  • "Delicious meal, beautiful beach setting, comfortable and gorgeous restaurant, very good service. All four of our kids loved their meals - including the BBQ ribs. My fish and prawns in banana leaf and coconut milk was divine. We ate out at 10 different restaurants this trip - Duke's was head and shoulders above the rest."

  • "Went for sunset dinner. The view was beautiful. I am allergic to fish & seafood so I cannot comment on that. My husband had the mahi mahi. I had the mango BBQ ribs. We both liked our food. However, the bill was $111. I did not think the food was exceptional enough to warrant this price. The price is more for the atmosphere than the food itself."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere, great food and exceptional service - Dukes is a "don't miss" Hawaiian dinner."

  • "Our meal consisted of local fresh fish. One prepared grilled the other macadamia and herb crusted. Fresh grilled vegetables and the house rice were good sides. The drinks were boozy. We would definitely recommend the sunset!"

  • "Excellent steak right on the beach. the outdoor ambiance was great, the staff sat us right away upon our arrival with a reservation. Beautiful outdoor setting. Did not try and schedule in time for sunset which i must imagine would be spectacular. Definitely going back."

  • "We ate here for dinner and asked to be seated outside. This is a excellent place to eat, especially if you want to see the sun set. I recommend this place as a must eat location!"

  • "The locations that the duke restaurant group has are amazing with multiple menus and excellent food across the board. We had the pleasure of eating at Hula grill, Leilani's and Dukes in our visit. Great prices, great atmosphere, great location and great food. Drink service has room for improvement but is not a reason to avoid these great restaurants. If the bars are packed sit in the restaurant quick seating and great food."

  • "Being new to the Duke's restaurant scene, we have come to expect a certain level of comfort and ambience from our first visit on the island of Kauai and were not disappointed. Although this restaurant (Maui) seemed a bit smaller at first, it is well thought out for taking in the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and having dinner and drinks while the sun sets over the ocean. All the wait staff we met were first rate and very friendly from the bartender Josh to our waiter Grayson. Grayson was a gem; affable and friendly with a quick wit and catered to our every need. He was extremely knowledgeable on the specials and menu items and because of this, we are returning for dinner this evening! The foold was excellent as well."

  • "This is part of the Hula Grill, Kimo's chain, but work it. The location is a beautiful condo, right by the ocean with beautiful sunsets. Nothing gourmet here, but food is very good and WAY better than avg chain food. This is one of their best locations. We make a meal of appetizers and wine--tapas style. Love it."

  • "Everything about our dinner here was great. There was live entertainment that night that was just perfect, not too loud or obnoxious. Our server was very good and helpful. We overlooked the ocean and it was a beautiful evening. We all had fish dishes that were very good and the aloha pie for dessert was great. Plenty to share. We will be back next year!"

  • "Seated right away, nice booth with gorgeous water view. The server was prompt in keeping our drinks fresh, great descriptions of specials. Food was delicious. Even let my daughter order off the bar menu. The bar seating is even better than the dining room! And the prices are better too, food just as wonderful. Enjoyed our delicious meal while watching the gorgeous sunset and listening to live music. A great location to really feel pampered and relaxed. Servers also work the pool area and were wonderful there too!"

  • "We live near Duke's sister restaurant in Sunnyside on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Both feature fresh, local preparations that are expertly composed with something to suit every palate. I particularly appreciate that the portions are not overwhelming nor heavy on fillers like potatoes/rice/pasta but emphasize fresh, local produce. The wine list isn't extensive, but includes a selection that is simultaneously accessible, value-priced, and pairs well with the menu while still being interesting enough for the more experienced oenophile. What stands out, however, is the service. Across the board, I've never been disappointed. Wait staff are knowledgeable without being pretentious and go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating."

  • "This is a beautiful spot on the ocean! We were celebrating our 45th anniversary and it was the perfect place! The food was perfect - just the right amount - I had beef and my husband had fish - both perfect. It was a little rainy out on the lanai but the umbrella placement made it very cozy. When the waiter found out it was our 45th, he brought us a huge piece of Hula Cake - another delicious treat! "

  • "The food and the ambiance can't be beat. Great seafood and amazing Mai Tai's. Dukes is great, but noisy. So, if you want to avoid some of the noise, go early. No matter, what is on the menu, it all looks good. Their Mud Pie is the ultimate dessert item."

  • "We came to Duke's at sunset and were promptly seated. Our server was Michael. He was great. The food, however, was not. I ordered the scampi kealoha. The shrimp was flavorless, and the ravioli tasted like something that had come out of a freezer bag. My husband ordered the seafood risotto. The flavor wasn't bad, but the lobster was served in its shell, making it difficult to remove and eat. We would expect a lobster tail to specifically be served this way, but in risotto? No thank you. The next table over ordered the fresh fish, and it looked very good. Perhaps we just chose poorly, but at those prices (and ala carte also!) it shouldn't taste like something I could pick up in my grocer's freezer."

  • "Our waiter was quite self centered and did not put in our order correctly. Our entrees were brought out before the appetizer. He tried to defend himself, but he should have just said he was sorry. They did take off our drinks from the bill as consolation. We felt rushed all evening. Have been here several times and not had that feeling, so we think it was more related to the server. This was a special dinner with friends from Oahu so we were not happy with that rushed feeling. "

  • "We made our reservation several days in advance as we knew that we wanted to go to Duke's as my husband has always loved it. We arrived and they said "ah, yes, your table is ready". We were then seated directly behind a very large post that completely blocked the view of the ocean and next to a large group with many children. We gave a look to the hostess who said there was no other place for us, but there were many empty tables. We sat there until our waiter arrived and then requested again to be moved. He had to get the manager, who then moved us to another table, which was better, but still partially behind a pillar. Many of the tables around never had anyone at them the entire time we were there. Food is also not as good as before."

  • "This is the restaurant you picture when you imagine Hawaii: grass umbrellas, tiki lamps, on the beach. Perfect. Food is fresh and interesting to boot."

  • "If you can get a table right on the beach walkway, this truly is a special place to have a meal. The outdoor setting is wonderful, and during a beautiful Maui sunset it's quite breathtaking. The service was excellent and we didn't wait when we had a reservation. The food was good, not great. I thought my seared Ahi steak was overcooked, even when I told the waiter to make it as "rare as possible," and the flavors on the plate seemed to overpower the ahi. While the food wasn't anything to rave about, the setting was a worthwhile experience."

  • "We are SF foodies and see a real step up in the level of creativity at Dukes on this trip to our favorite island. The menu selections were varied, fresh and local, which is important. Duke's is lively, yet able to converse well. Grayson, our server was attentive and professional. A perfect spot for Hawaiian sunsets for a full on ocean view from any table. Mahalo Duke's!"

  • "Worst server ever and that really took the jam out of my donut. We were looking forward to eating here and got let down. The view and sunset were amazing, but it stopped there. The food was ok but nothing to write home about, the service was terrible. Nothing came quickly except for the check. It was a job for him and he could care less about the guests. I would NOT recommend coming to this place, over priced and just not worth it!!!!"

  • "Duke's is in a great location on Maui in Honua Kai. Unfortunately, we made reservations for a night that was windy and rained. We were seated at the front with a great view of the water and impending sunset, but instead of enjoying the location, two of our party got blown and showered on a bit. I thought our waiter would offer to move us. I tried to suggest it politely to no avail. All of the others in my party enjoyed they're dinner. I didn't. That happens. The service was average that night. Our waiter forgot to bring requested bread refill and was not attentive to refilling water glasses. For a half empty dining area, our evening could have been improved by moving us back away from the elements and more attentive service. "

  • "Our dinner on Mother's Day was perfect. I made the reservations and mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, as well. They made sure we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. I had the kabobs and they were wonderful. My husband had a two fish dinner special and he loved it. The Hula Pie was offered free for Mother's Day. We would have ordered it regardless as we had heart nothing but great things about it. What a great evening and we are so glad we went."

  • "It's always hard to depart Maui near the end of a wonderful time on the island. We choose Duke's to celebrate the fun and festive time we've had with a great meal and a suitable wine to toast the next time we come. "

  • "We ate at Duke's on three different occasions this trip to Maui. Consistently good with excellent wait staff and great location. Very convenient for those staying north of Kaanapali Beach."

  • "Dukes is on property where we stayed (Honua Kai) so we ate there multiple times:dinner, breakfast and afternoon drinks. Nice atmosphere with tiki torches and live music after dark. Food was pretty good: Panko crusted calamari strips (very meaty, not rings), seafood risotto, and some sort of fish wrapped in Banana leaf. They gave us a free "Hula pie" dessert. Breakfast was just so-so. Happy hour mai Tais and Dukes lemonade for $4. There are better places to eat on Maui for sure, but it was conveniently located off us. "

  • "Every year we go to Dukes as a an ritual for the Macadamia Encrusted fish - which was excellent. Kula Salad was just okay. We usually get the Hula Pie but was too full and ordered the sorbet which was a big disappointment. Menu boasts three different flavors; we only got two since we were told "that's all we have in the kitchen." I told the waiter, who didn't offer any substitutions since we told him we didn't care for the sorbet. We just won't order that again."

  • "We have eaten at a few Duke's locations and this is one of the best. The location is great, on the water and just north of Ka'anapali. Fish preparations always delicious! We'll be back."
