Due LireHomemade everythingWe've been coming here for a few years and just love it. We always have a terrific meal. Homemade pasta to die for coupled with great antipasto, salads and amazing bread make this one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago. Service is really friendly and they have a reasonably priced wine list with plenty of nice pairings for the menu. Bravo Due Lire!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTry due lireDelicious food. Great deal on wine on Wednesday nights. Nice patio. Try it.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDining al frescoI have been coming to Due-Lire for nearly two years, and the owner, kitchen staff, and servers never fail to impress me. The food is rustic, flavorful, and downright delicious! The wine list is just right, and will appeal to all price points (if you can, the Recchia Amarone is divine!). Massimo, the owner, is friendly and completely down-to-earth, he really makes the restaurant along with the wonderfully comedic but knowledgeable wait staff. A must try, especially now that they have their patio open! It will remind you of a Northern Italian farmhouse and you will not want to leave.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodeverything was delicious, from appetizers to dessert5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA welcoming space with excellentA welcoming space with excellent food. This evening was a celebration for a friend's birthday, and though we were a late night six top in this intimate space, we were never rushed. The food was fantastic, and our server was warm, knowledgeable and humorous. We've enjoyed every meal we have had here, and last night was excellent as well.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food very much.Enjoyed the food very much.
We had a 7pm reservation on Friday night. For the first part of our meal, the noise level was moderate. Later two tables were seated, one with three exuberant women and one with two couples. The noise level went through the roof. Some noise deadening curtains or panels would help greatly.
We would still go back, but probably on a quieter week night.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSupport this Lincoln Square gemAnother very satisfying meal! Due Lire is a clear cut above the other Italian restaurants in the Lincoln Square area. We enjoyed a terrific light and creamy mushroom soup that really surprised us. The fresh mushroom flavor was finely balanced with a lightly foamed creamy soup. The texture and flavor made this dish a real delight. The pasta is made fresh and the wine list is solid. Highly recommended for those who appreciate well executed Italian fare.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNoise spoils this restaurantFood is tasty and made-to-order. All pastas are made in-house and there is a nice selection of dishes. My husband's entree was a delicious meat sauce that the owner informed us was cooked for many hours; my tortolinni was more spinach than cheese and that made it more flavorful. Because the dishes are made-to-order service is a little slow. It is unpleasantly noisy. I would definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Due Lire--and it was great! We'll definitely be back.
The service was difficult--slow to get going-- when we arrived, but as the place cleared out, the service got to be very good. The manager/owner and our server were very personable, and really helped us have a fun evening.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic service, good drinkFantastic service, good drink menu, and great food. A bit out of my price range for an everyday meal, but worth it for special occasions. We will most definitely be coming back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed the shrimpI really enjoyed the shrimp ravioli---great shrimp flavor with a nice, subtle tomato sauce.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAccommodating to get us toAccommodating to get us to Old Town School of Music on time.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant dining experience.Very pleasant dining experience. Food was delicious. The specials had a different twist from the usual Italian fare. We were going to a show after dinner so appreciated that the waitstaff paid attention to our timing.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNaples comes to Chicago! What a gem! Started with the eggplant melanzane and it was great! Asian eggplant sliced in coins, with fresh mozzarella and warmed cherry tomatoes! The mela and rucola salads were perfectly dressed. The rucola was nice a peppery! The bolognese on the home-made flat noodles of the Maldafe was outof this world. A perfect combo of meat and herbs. Perfectly cooked whitefish, the porchetta and spinich tortelloni completed a perfect meal. The wine list had some great selections and we were offered BOGO - as it was half-price wine night! The owner, Massimo, was charming and we felt as we were back in Napoli!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, the experience atOverall, the experience at DueLire was good - not great. Most dishes were skillfully prepared but were not interesting. On the other hand the staff was great, attentive and helpful.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated my birthday hereCelebrated my birthday here with my girlfriends. Had a great time. Staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and just made the whole night wonderful. We loved that as a larger group we could sit and relax, catch up & chat, and never felt rushed like they were trying to turn over our table. We will be coming back!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
