Diner Reviews
  • "Austin was our server and he was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about not only his dishes but his bar selections. It was a fabulous atmosphere and experience for our daughters 21st birthday dinner. Thank you"

  • "Had a great meal here- I think the quality of the food is not quite up to par (I was not blown away the way I usually am at higher end restaurants) for the prices but it was made up for by the great service and the endless supply of those amazing breads. Still thinking about that sweet honey wheat roll... Yum!"

  • "Dudley's has a reputation to stand up to and they do! We had a lovely dinner with friends in the bar."

  • "Had a wonderful experience here. My wife and I had our 5 year anniversary dinner and the experience made it even better. Great service, food was outstanding and atmosphere was perfect. I'd recommend getting a reservation without a doubt. Gets busy in a hurry"

  • "Food and service were great! Verry, very loud. Back ground noices was terrible. Do not plan to have a quiet conversation."

  • "We were visiting my daughter in Lexington and she heard great things about Dudley's but had never been there. We made our reservations through OpenTable and she arrived first and was seated when my wife and I arrived. The food was outstanding and creative. A pressed watermelon salad was a unique experience. The crispy duck special was delicious and the desserts were sublime. Our waiter, Austin, kept our classes and coffee cups full and was there at a moment's notice to meet our every need. I highly recommend Dudley's."

  • "We dined on a Monday night for my husband's birthday. The restaurant provided a nice, quiet atmosphere to go along with the great food and a knowledgeable and attentive server. A very nice touch was the birthday sundae to which my husband was treated!"

  • "We eat here every time we're in Lexington and the food is always great."

  • "The food and service were very good, but the wines were expensive. It is a nice place to go for a special occasion, but it is a bit pricey for frequent dining."

  • "We have been going to Dudley's for many years. It is one of the best restaurants in Lexington."

  • "But we had no idea it would be one of our top five dining experiences. The restaurant is beautiful and, as requested, we got an intimate table out of the way to celebrate a birthday. Our waiter was fantastic - attentive but discreet. The food was superb - some of the best oysters we've had (and we've lived in Florida and on the East Coast). My steak frites was perfection as was my husband's "lamb two ways". They also had our favorite wine (Camus). As a birthday special I received tiramisu - now, I generally am not a fan of tiramisu, but to be polite I had a taste. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Next time we are in Lexington, we will be back."

  • "The salad and the raw oysters were very good. My colleague and I ordered the pasta chicken dish as an entrée. That dish was only average. The most disturbing part of the evening were the small flies that kept swarming around the table. We told our waiter. His explanation was that the windows were open in the bar and that the flies would come in. I finally killed one, and it fell in my wine glass. The waiter did replace the wine. After swatting one fly, two more came swarming to the table. In a "fine" dining establishment, I would expect more sympathy regarding flies in the dining area."

  • "Not only was it so much fun the food was excellent and service even better. I can't wait to visit Lexington again so I can have dinner again at this GREAT Place!"

  • "Traditional steakhouse fare coupled with a magnificent wine list (Opus One, Insignia, Ray Estate). The service was the best part though--ask for John. "

  • "My favorite Lexington restaurant. It never disappoints. Food is excellent, service outstanding, and atmosphere very nice. It is my go to place for special occasions."

  • "Perfect evening on rooftop. Service outstanding and food the best. Scallops and oysters on half shell so tasty. One of our favorite downtown stops. We try to make it as often as we can and recommend it as tops."

  • "Restaurant has a nice feel, good food and great service. Saw it in Garden & Gun magazine earlier this year. "

  • "We could not have asked for a better experience. The three things that make dining experiences delightful are: ambiance, service, and fine food. Rarely do you find all three. Dudley's on Short nailed all three much to our great pleasure. "

  • "This is always a sure bet for a great dinning experience in Lexington!"

  • "This is the second time we have eaten at Dudley's on Short. Service is impeccable. Food is fabulous. Wine list is extensive, but overpriced. Always a wonderful dinner experience. "

  • "They always keep their menu fresh and source local ingredients. Great food and great service at a fair price, it's a simple formula but it works. Best rooftop lounge in Lexington. Great bar tenders. "

  • "Derby weekend in Lexington. A nice mix of upscale tourists, horse people from out of town and local. Vibrant scene with great service and good food beautifully presented."

  • "The service was excellent, prompt, and unobtrusive. The meal I had consisted of a moist, perfectly pan-seared salmon on a bed of orzo with spears of asparagus. My salad was chopped Brussels spouts with pine nuts, which was not only unique, but also tasty. The wine was a Riesling and complimented my salmon nicely. The space is comfortable, with fine art paintings surrounding the room. The number of tables felt a bit tight to me. My one major complaint is that it was far too loud in there. I could barely hear my companion sitting two feet away. The high ceiling and flat surface walls made the noise level, yes, energetic, but also annoying. I left as soon as possible in order to be able to carry on a conversation without shouting. "

  • "They handled our group of 6 for lunch very well. Reservation was handled easily and they accommodated our party that trickled in a few minutes late very well."

  • "We went to Dudley's for an early dinner on a Monday night. The decor is lovely but the noise level was so loud that it was difficult to hear my friend speaking. Our service was good. We had the Bibb salad which wasn't particularly remarkable but the pasta Dudley was good as usual. "

  • "This is the perfect place for a nice business lunch. My business associates were from Canada and Australia. They both enjoyed this quaint local restaurant."
    Dined on 4/28/2014
  • "Excellent food and service. My only complaint is that it is very loud inside."
    Dined on 4/27/2014
  • "Another great experience at Dudley's. Our food and service were both outstanding. The Brussel Sprout Salad is one of my favorites. We had dinner in the dining room and then enjoyed the patio for an after dinner cocktail. Both servers and the bartender were all friendly, helpful, and professional. "

  • "During a recent visit to Lexington, several friends recommended Dudley's for dinner. We found Dudley's to be tastefully decorated, well appointed and comfortable. The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without an overbearing presence. The menu has good variety and the food is exceptionally prepared. A great dining experience. Will certainly return on our next trip to the Lexington area."

  • "Food, service, decor were nothing special. The two of us were seated in the middle of a room with guests and wait staff scurrying around us constantly, making it difficult to have a relaxing meal and easy conversation. Pretty pricey."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "They did not have room for us on Easter because we made the reservation online. We were treated like it was our fault for making the reservation online. We had to eat at a table outside because they did not have any other seating. The hostess was very rude about it! We were not the only ones they could not accommodate. They should not allow reservations if they can not manage them properly! "

  • "My wife and I were there on a Thrusday night - The city of Lexington has Thursday night live in the pavilion area that is very close by, this may have increased the noise level - the bar area was packed with a very lively crowd. The food and service was great, osters were fresh and fantastic flown in daily, Salmon and Sea Bass were both exceptional. Great place in Lexington to unwind and have a great meal. Reservation suggested."

  • "After we made a reservation, our group had heard from locals the restaurant was in decline. Our experience was good in all aspects."

  • "Everything about Dudleys was FANTASTIC! The food was outstanding and our waiter was one of the best possible! We'll make a point to dine here next time we are in town."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "It was as always a very positive experience. We dined in the bar area and the only negative is the noise level is higher than elsewhere in the restaurant. Service great and food always excellent and tired something different this trip. Will see you all again."
