Duck Club at Lafayette Park HotelGood place for a business mealThere are not many places in Lafayette where it's quiet enough to have a conversation over a meal. So for a business-related meal this is a great spot....good food, comfortable booths, quiet.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for foodiesI haven't been to Duck Club for a while and my friend was hesitant to go. I was glad that she agreed because the oysters were fresh and sweet and it made a big difference in her experience. I came for the duck confit and was not disappointed. We will certainly go back6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we ordered wasEverything we ordered was excellent, except I thought the French onion soup was a bit salty.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to this beautifulWe went to this beautiful hotel for breakfast to meet a friend we hadn't seen for awhile. We were seated at a nice window table overlooking the pleasant patio. Drinks came promptly as did our food order - the lox and bagel plate, the salmon Benedict and the quiche, with fruit, all excellent. We also had a very appealing pastry sampler. The breakfast menu is more limited than the brunch but there was plenty of choice. Coffee and water were refilled promptly and we did not feel rushed even though they were setting up for brunch at 10:30.
Will we come back? Yes, to try the brunch, lunch and dinner! We eat out a fair amount and consider ourselves foodies. The Duck Club is a quiet, peaceful place to eat good food and talk.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSplendid breakfast choiceA serene and well appointed space looking out on to a courtyard. Quiet enough for a business conversation or nursing a hangover from the delightful tavern adjacent. An attentive staff, moving confidently throughout and a menu that is compact but with all the traditional offerings and a few unique ones. The lemon-blueberry pancakes, for example, are light and precisely cooked, with a light citrus tang to the blueberries. Can't go wrong here--unless you go healthy and try the chicken apple sausage links. The absence of moisture or flavor suggests they need to find a new brand.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad We Took a Chance! My wife and I had dinner (and breakfast the following morning) while staying at the hotel. In the past, we have found restaurants associated with an on-site hotel can be hit or miss---this one was a hit. We were highly impressed with the restaurant. Top notch all the way. The staff were friendly and attentive during both meals that we ate there. Food was very well prepared and flavorful. The dinner entree was a little smaller than I expected; however, that was fine since we're both trying to watch our weight! The orange creme brulee was a great choice for dessert. Our server (Vivian) definitely made our dining experience pleasurable. We will be certain to eat here again if we are in the area.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a party of four, we hadAs a party of four, we had a quiet booth off to one side. Service attention was very good and timely. Three different entrees received high reviews. The scollop 'special' had very good flavor, but only two scollops - too light for a $24 dish. Our wait person was very knowledgable and friendly - almost too friendly. We didn't really want to hear about allergies and her dogs. Otherwise, an excellent experience; we will return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything from the appetizerEverything from the appetizer to the dessert was fabulous.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI made this reservation inI made this reservation in honor of my lady friend's birthday. I hadn't dined at the Duck Club for years so decided to give it a try as I wanted her birthday dinner to be special- and it was!
We started with a crab cake appetizer that was incredible, shared a salad and each of us ordered a steak for dinner. The steaks (she had the filet and me a New York) were perfectly prepared and excellent in every way.
We finished with a dessert that was 'on the house' and even decorated with 'Happy Birthday' drizzled in chocolate on the plate along with the customary candle.
The only criticism I have was I ordered two glasses of sparkling wine ($16 ea. is my memory?)and it was about 3 oz. so I thought that was not a good value.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA good getaway. We have always enjoyed this restaurant. Feels private with booths by the window overlooking courtyard. Service great. Food is quality. We go to this restaurant and stay overnight at the hotel just to get away even though we live in walnut creek.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI scheduled a business lunchI scheduled a business lunch meeting and checked in at the desk for my reservation saying I'd wait for my party. It was raining, so I had comfort food -- essentially a grilled cheese with ham and tomatoe soup while my dining partner had ... I forget. My meal was very tasty, service good and this place, inside a boutique hotel, quite nice. The noise level was low so we could talk. The only (minor) downside is that I received a "no show" message from Open Table even though I did check in at the desk and used my credit card to pay for both of our meals. That was easily rectified however.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a memorable and deliciousFor a memorable and delicious dinner, this is one of our top places to go to dine in an elegant environment with relaxing ambience, comfort with a sense of privacy and top-notch, friendly and attentive service. Before the sun sets, the adjacent, treed and flowered open courtyard is a lovely backdrop to view and provide a sense of beauty and tranquility. Enjoy!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always excellentThe food is always excellent at the Duck Club. They always provide innovative menu items and it is cooked perfectly. The service was a little to be desired on our last trip as we were waiting for a while before we were served but it was pleasant at the same time.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
