  • "Hash browns over cooked. No flavour in hollandaise sauce. Kind of bland. Coffee non exciting. You asked"

  • "Quite a surprise find. Have driven by but haven't stopped until now. Good pub food and nice outdoor sitting area. Decent beer selection. Great food prices. Will now try it for brunch on a weekend. Now that I know it's there I will stop by more often."

  • "The grounds are beautiful leading to the building and I loved the actual penetenitary building. They just don't make them like that any more ! It was our first time and wee were there early and were the only two in the restaurant for maybe the first 30 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a bit cold, the music a bit noisy but the staff was most accommodating and did what they could to either turn off the air conditioning or turn it down (it was a dull and rainy day; one of our first over these past few weeks) and also turned down the music. By the time we left, it was quite full. I would definitely go again. I picked the restaurant and was very glad I had chosen Dublin Castle. Well Done, Everyone ! We will definitely be back"

  • "First I should point out, my family and I are really not a demanding bunch. Give us a place to sit, some food and drinks, and we’re happy campers. Secondly, I’m really not one to pull the discrimination card. But really, when literally all the other tables are getting adequate service, and we’re the only ones left out in the cold, the mind starts to wonder – is it the way I’m dressed? Is it my skin colour? Is it the way I part my hair? Whatever the reason, after an hour of waiting, my family decided that an empty table and a server with clear disdain for us are inexcusable, and acknowledged that Mothers’ Day brunch was utterly ruined. On our way out, the manager offered some half-hearted apologies, but they rang false. The damage was done."

  • "This place has a fun atmosphere but the service was very poor. Not only did our server not come back to check on our meals, we had to ask the bus person 3 times to find her. Drinks were good but very slow in coming. Food was mediocre & barely warm. Had to go into the restaurant to settle up the bill as our server could not be found when we were leaving. Bill was $140 for 4 of us which, with the service provided, was far too high"

  • "First time we've been able to lunch outdoors. Both sunny/umbrella and covered outdoor seating on lovely large patio. Delightful and delicious. "

  • "We had reservations for 11AM (same time last 3 yrs). Seated on time, waitress did not know about orange juice/champagne drink. All she mentioned was the eggs benedict. Your webpage sports buffet with roast beef, yorkshire pudding. We were told that the roast beef was not available until noon - still not being carved at noon. The platters were frequently empty. We only had prawns as we do not eat pork. There was no scrambled eggs, hashbrowns. The so-called dessert (small danish) is something you would see on a continental breakfast, not a Mother's Day buffet. I spoke to a woman (owner or supervisor?) expressing disappointment. Brunch means assortment of breakfast & lunch entries.....not provided. "

  • "I really liked the atmosphere. It was lovely on the outside patio! We went for Mother's Day Brunch ... and I don't think they were prepared enough in the kitchen for how busy it was going to be! I know that most, if not all, of the people there had made reservations ... so I don't feel the restaurant can use any excuse as to why the buffett kept running out of food! They tried to keep up - but it just didn't work out in their best interest! I am sure that they will lose customers because of the simple fact that they didn't staff that day properly. I overheard others on the patio saying how disappointed they were, and that this was their 3rd year coming for Mother's Day - but today was definitely the worst experience they have had. "

  • "Two of our party ordered the steak and turf. Not a good choice. The steak was grossly over cooked and very small......the prawns were very good. The two remaining guests had cod and chips and the pub version of Chicken Cordon bleu (sp?). They were just ok."

  • "We came here for lunch on the weekend to use up an expiring Groupon. We got there before noon and was so surprised to find it pretty busy. I realize they are going for an Irish theme, but it's such a shame to see a building with such great history to look so modern and renovated. Staff were very friendly. For a small space, they had quite a few servers working, which is fantasic! Food was very fresh tasting. I'd definitely come back to try out their brunch items."

  • "I was happy with the ambiance, location and service, but the food took approximately an hour to arrive, and it was luke warm at best. I might recommend going there for a drink, but not for food."

  • "This place is billed as child friendly but does nothing for kids for breakfast or lunch. The food tasted prepared and cooked in old oil it didnt seem fresh at all. This is a bar trying to be more and just not getting it right yet. I see this as a great place for a few pints at lunch or in the evening but some place i would rush back to and definitely not a place i would return with my kids."

  • "Service was great. Food was okay. One party member had steak sandwich - ordered medium rare, got medium at best. The chicken bites tossed in chili sauce was fabulous, but the onion rings were typical frozen ones. House beer was good. I'd go back. Ambience alone was worth seeing!"

  • "When we arrived we were told that they WOULD accommodate us because we made the reservation online, but that they were expecting a big group, so we'd have to have the table that's near the entrance (least desirable location) and out of the way. From the beginning we felt unwelcome. My husband requested a basic entree from the menu and he was told that they were out of steak - at 7pm on a Saturday night. It was implied that he was at fault for wishing to order something they couldn't offer (from their limited menu, no less). There was no actual manager present as when we requested to speak to a manager, our server left and then came back informing us that she was the "acting manager"."

  • "Meal was great. Only one person in our group didn't like the beer in the gravy. We had a waitress in training so, we had to repeat our requests a couple of times. Overall, it was very enjoyable, and we enjoyed the location. In fact, we're having a group lunch there in a few days. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Was a great get together for a friends birthday. Only trouble were the yellow jackets, and really, the restaurant had little or no control over that. Traps were noticeable, perhaps the flowers drew them. Food and service great, as usual. Always return!!"

  • "We love going to Dublin Castle. It's in the residential area of the Brewery District but the patio is where it's at!!! Great atmosphere, friendly service and decent pub fare. Their dublin burger is very good and my husband enjoyed the Cheese-Steak Sandwich. The brunch on Sundays look great too. They are available until 2 pm which is awesome for a lazy sunday. We ride our bikes from Uptown and it's a perfect weekend, sunny spot to check out."

  • "Dublin Castle has an amazingly huge deck, you can see the Fraser River if you are sitting on the South side. As the name suggests it is a castle. We ordered the lunch special, fish and chips. Two huge pieces of fish and LOTS of chips, hand cut. It was an excellent value for money. No room for dessert. Not being a New West resident, not familiar with hours and bar scene. The drink menu seemed very adequate for a brunch/lunch."

  • "We have been twice to Dublin Castle and this time was a bit off . 2 people had breakfasts and they really enjoyed them. I had a toasted sandwich that was good but the bottom piece of bread was soggy. It was a smoked meat sandwich with only Dijon mustard on it so it shouldnt have been soggy. Fries were great....soggy bread really took away from what should and could have been an awesome sandwich. Our other meal was the clubhouse and the meat tasted burnt. It really took away from the sandwich. disappointed a bit but things that are easy to fix or get right next time. Service both visits was great !!! Patio is very nice on a sunny day !!"

  • "A group of seven of us went there for brunch on a Sunday and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Pretty good value also in my opinion. We had two breakfasts (2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, hash browns and toast.....a small fruit salad also ) and two of the special drinks and our bill was $30. the special drinks were double vodka and lemonade... very refreshing. The patio is a very nice spot to enjoy a meal and a drink. the area is very quiet and one that I had never been in before"

  • "We had lunch outside on a beautiful sunny day - the surroundings were great as was the view and the service. We were a group of women and our server couldn't have been nicer. She had great patience with us. Would go again."

  • "The food was great, service good. The view was just OK as there are a lot of buildings & trees. You need to be higher up to really see without craning your neck. I was very disappointed regarding making a reservation with out of town guests that when we arrived we were casually told to take any table. I had requested an outside patio table and there was no umbrella coverage available even with my confirming with the hostess for directions. Luckily, the table beside us vacated and we were able to move w/i 15 minutes. I do not see the point of making a reservation when it basically was take your chances when you arrive. I would return but personally speak to a manager on duty if I was to make a reservation."

  • "I''ve been to the Dublin Castle a few times. It's close to home, and has great outdoor seating. The food is really yummy. My brother had an issue with his choice, and the server was great about getting him something else! Which he was happy with! Will definitely be back."

  • "Have been here a number of times for work gatherings and also for brunch on weekends. LOVE that it's a kid friendly pub/restaurant. Service is always fast and friendly. Food is really good and drinks are reasonably priced. In the summer, the patio is amazing space with a really nice view of the Fraser River and valley beyond."

  • "My brother and I went to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as we thought there would be great music and dancers. It was a disappointment to not have those things but would have come on the Sunday as I heard there would be dancers every 2 hours. The food was ok and the service was very good. Thanks. ( the only thing was our taxi driver could'nt find the place and we go charged double because he was lost, not your fault lol!!!)"
