Diner Reviews
  • "great food, attentive friendly wait staff, not too noisy, a great dining experience"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "It's a shame that a restaurant that has many ingredients for getting things right, gets things so wrong. Slow, inattentive service for our party of 8. Waitress would be gone for 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Was never asked if we wanted a second cocktail. Was never offered a wine menu. All the food was underseasoned. Vegetables and potatoes were boring. Lots of staff, who don't seem interested in the needs of restaurant guests. Nice ambience, but the place has an attitude in which the staff seem to think the restaurant is finer than it really is, and they aren't particularly friendly or having fun with the customers, which is a shame. Nice concept but it fails: the food and service are not worth the price. "

  • "I was impressed with the quality of the service and the preparation of the food. The restaurant was clean and the people friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. "

  • "No complaints. Great neighborhood restaurant. However very noisy. Ask for Quieter room. Very good food and large portions."

  • "Ordered the flank steak and it was delicious. Tender, tasty and seasoned very well. Our waiter Mark was attentive, explained the menu items I asked about very well and didn't feel rushed by him. My date and I enjoyed our meal and our service. I would recommend to family and friends."

  • "We were recommended to come to the restaurant by a good friend who goes regularly. We were so impressed with the quality of food, atmosphere, and of course the beer list! Two people in our party had the BBQ platter which I highly recommend. "

  • "Vibrant scene. Food is delicious and the bartenders are great mixologists."

  • "Yummy food! Even yummier cocktails, the Sazerac is the bomb!!"

  • "Second time here. Enjoyable, good service, good food."

  • "I have been to Dry Creek Grille several times. I was disappointed this time. I don't know what happened in the kitchen. The soup which I so love was tasteless and the meatloaf another big favorite of mine was drenched in 'sauce' and just unappetizing. I hope this was just a one time happening...I love going to Dry Creek, it is so close and usually a beautiful experience."

  • "Cozy environment. Waitress was helpful and attentive. Appetizers, Main Entree & Drinks were all very good. Tasted like fresh high quality food. Comfortable spacious seating. At times, the restaurant got loud and it was hard to hear my husband. There are lots of tv's. Other than that, we loved the place and will be returning."

  • "I loved the atmosphere - modern upscale inside, fire pits outside. The service was really good - only complaint that our salads arrived before our drinks. The food was outstanding - salmon on risotto with parsnips and carrots, diver scallops with spinach and risotto cakes, mixed BBQ. And the beet salad must be ordered! I would definitely go back. The biggest complaint was that as the meal went on, it got louder and louder and louder! Go before 7 if you want to talk."

  • "Great interior design. Very expensive. Very noisy place."

  • "My friend & I each ordered a half-chicken & asked to sub out some of the sides. The server didn't indicate that there would be a sur-charge for substitutions nor was it stated on the menu. I subbed mushrooms in place of the mashed potatoes that came with my chicken & my friend subbed mashed potatoes for the beans that came with hers. How hard would it have been to give my friend MY mashed potatoes & simply charge for ONE substitution? Also, when I asked for my leftovers to be packaged up, there were still several mushrooms & brussels sprouts on my plate alongside the chicken. Upon arriving home, all that was in the box was chicken. Was it necessary for me to specifically ask for ALL the leftovers to be boxed? Ridiculous."

  • "For the quality of the dishes, Dry Creek Grill charges too much. The meatloaf was overwhelmed with BBQ sauce, and the Stroganoff was bland. The steaks were out of my price range. The wait staff was wonderful and attentive."

  • "Tuesday evening was our third time dining at the Dry Creek Grill. Every time we have had wonderful food and service. While it is possible to spend a lot for your meal if you select the more expensive offerings, you can have an absolutely wonderful meal at a moderate price. This is our new favorite restaurant and we will be back several more times this year and beyond."

  • "Had another fine meal here and once again the service was super. The food was very good but there was a few minor problems. The mark of an outstanding restaurant is how well errors are corrected and the style of the correction. They corrected there errors with style and grace even if the mistake might have been caused by how I ordered they adjusted my meal immediately. I can recommend this restaurant without hesitation and will be back."

  • "Have been here for dinner on four occasions both early in the week and later in the week. Vibrant atmosphere, good food and excellent service on each visit, but things can and does get somewhat noisey....more so at weeks end when the restaurant's crowd level and activity peaks."

  • "Food was okay, but a bit overpriced. The meal consisted of a soup, an appetizer, four dishes (no steak), and two desserts. It came out to be $160 with tip and nothing wowed us except for the deviled eggs and the apple crumble."

  • "Took a friend here for dinner on a Friday night to celebrate her birthday. First off, we had to change tables, and even though I had reservations and other tables were open in that section, we were reseated at the most remote table in the house next to a pair of weirdos. But forget that - the food was mediocre at best. My husband had the prime rib stroganoff which had only a handful of noodles and meat that tasted like it was 3-4 days old. My rotisserie chicken was blah tasting, & I love roti chicken ordering frequently. The "roasted" Brussel sprouts were shaved and nearly raw. Our guest said the scallops were just okay. For the price, it wasn't worth it. Last time we were there it was very good so not sure if we will return."

  • "Wow, were we ever impressed! The staff is well trained, they don't skip a beat. I t was my first time at Dry Creek and the food was so delish! It was a very, very pleasant dining experience. Kudos to the entire staff! Highly recommend Dry Creek Grill."

  • "The food was very good. We split the BBQ sampler, and added a salad and a side to split, and it was more than enough food for two. We brought in our own wine, but they did have a nice selection, and they offer wine from the "barrell"....interesting concept. They brought a very nice (complimentary) dessert (cheesecake drizzled with chocolate sauce and some fresh berries on the side) for my birthday. Much nicer than the standard scoop of vanilla ice cream that most places offer."

  • "The Service in this resturant is always bad. The food is bad. I had a salad that looked like it was made a week prior. I keep coming back to hoping this place will get better. I give up"

  • "Delicious food and drinks. Excellent wine choices. It really is a great neighborhood dining choice. One usually has to travel to Los Gatos for this type of restaurant."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant so we ordered meals that each other would like and switched half way through. For starters she had the the green chili soup and I had my usual Caesar salad. Then she had the beef stroganoff and I had the skirt steak. All was excellent and we had enough left over for lunch the next day. There are so many tempting items on the menu that we have to go back and try something different."

  • "Excellent quality food and service. The menu is varied from burgers to high end steaks and everything in-between. They try to vary the options so that they don't price anyone out. The decor is lovely and the restaurant is large enough that they can place you in the higher energy area or in a more sedate location. We were there for dinner but my wife had also been there for lunch. It was outstanding in both incidences."

  • "This was our fourth visit, celebrated a birthday dinner with eight people. Food was amazing as always, service was spot on. Sat two to each side, was perfect for the dinner. We've meandered through most of the menu and have never had a bad one. The ribs are superb, highly recommended as is the Prime Rib Stroganoff."

  • "Really superb food, every time. Excellent and attentive service with a spirit of genuine pleasure in hosting you in their restaurant. The only off note is that the hostesses tend to be less genuine than the wait staff. Pricey but well worth it."

  • "While the food is good and the ambience is awesome (you forget you're in the shopping center with Bally's next to it), I always find that the service is poor in the main dining area. We visit often, but only go to the bar area. When we're with friends, we use the dining section, but we've yet to be happy with the service. In our most recent visit this past Saturday, we had to ask for break, we had to ask for refills of our water (not even sparkling), refills for our coffee, and consistently search for April (our waitress) to help us. Not a great experience, but thankfully the food makes up for it."

  • "A wonderful surprise when you step up to this Willow Glen gem. I didn't expect to find waterfalls, firepits, high tech televisions and a cozy yet hip environment in this location, but I did. The mixed drinks at the bar were so good, I talked with the bartender and found out he use to mix drinks at a fancy place in Las Vegas. The manager is someone my husband and I recognized from our trips to Maui years ago. They have the best staff and I highly recommend this wonderful place."

  • "One of our favorite places . . . but not tonight. Our food was undercooked and my order was wrong. On the bright side, the sweet potato fries are divine and because they did not order them instead of the potato gratin, I received a whole plate of them, which I ate instead of my filet mignon. I didn't want to send it back, because I felt they would overcook it. Disappointing evening but we will give it another go in the future"
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "I really didn't like the food. Brisket was not tender and the BBQ sauce taste like bottled. Cole slaw was in huge chunks which made it hard to eat. The food altogether was just bland not really worth the price. You're basically paying for ambience. Bally has the monopoly on parking."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "noodles were dry and tough, there were too many mushrooms meat was tough. . I told her and she said, oh, okay, would you care to see the dessert menu?? My girlfriend and I have been coming there quite often and we were so turned off that we won't be returning."

  • "There aren't many places in San Jose for a special dinner out, but Dry Creek Grill is one of them. Had steak and scallops. Both were great. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant has a really nice casual yet classy ambiance. They had a great selection of appetizers. Only gripe was small portions on the scallops."

  • "Open noisy kitchen next to a very large bar that fills the room's center with booths and tables nearby that are washed over with the noise and distraction of many TVs on the wall create a kind of chaotic dining space. The drinks are generous and the food is very good. The prices are high. Might return again when we are feeling flush with cash."
