Diner Reviews
  • "A very nice restaurant! Such nice ambiance inside & immediately outside the door! It's too as it's in a strip mall :(. Once inside, you forget all about that! It's beautiful inside (like Los Alros Grill's twin). Nice huge bar, subtle lighting. Good food, drinks, and service! Menu options are nice & cover a wide range of choices making the final selections hard to pick from since everything sounded SO GOOD! And it all was! We'll be back!"

  • "It looks out of place, but the food and service is wonderful! Lots of parking."

  • "This is a good restaurant for special occasions, nicely appointed and decorated, great ambiance. The food and service are very good but the prices are more like I would expect to pay for amazing food and service. :) That being said, the menu has a good variety of choices for nearly anyone, which makes it ideal for a special occasion or group activity."

  • "We went here for our anniversary and had a decent time. We were not read the specials, but heard the waitress telling others after we ordered. We were also not given bread when other tables were. The food was okay, but not anything overly impressive. I had the stroganoff. The meat was good, but the sauce was common. Wife had a smoke chicken dish, that she did not finish. Both dishes had waaaay too many onions. I had the Boston Verne cake for desert which was good. Wife had apple crisp that had a burnt top. I had a cherry gimlet that was pretty good. Wife had a mint juelip that she did not finish. Overall, I expected more for the $112 price tag of the meal. I'm not all that picky, but the joint did not live up to what I heard."

  • "We arrived at 5 PM on a Tuesday, so the restaurant was quiet. My friend and I both had the brisket. It comes with delicious cornbread, beans and coleslaw. The brisket was very tasty and very tender. I will come back."

  • "Discovered by accident---serendipitous! Great menu and wine lits. Broad range of whiskies, and bar tenders who know how to make cocktails! Extraordinary appetizers (potato-wrapped scallops), and daily specials. And main courses to die for! We will be regulars, no doubt."

  • "Fine dining at its best. Service excellent from arrival to departure. Staff seeks out ways to make your visit more enjoyable, attentive without being intrusive. Broad wine and menu selection, well prepared and served. Drinks a bit expensive. In fact, all this comes at a price but well worth it for a romantic, special or culinary experience."

  • "This place blew me away. I thought it was going to be another "flash in the pan" joint. To my delight, the inside was romantically moody, set for people watching. The service the best I've had in a very long time...didn't have to request a thing. The staff saw to everything without asking. The food prepared beautifully, tasted as good as it looked and the portion sizes were above expectations. Will be back again and again!. Someone knows how to run a first class restaurant. It was expensive but well worth it. Thank you!!!"

  • " We made this reservation because it was fairly close and still open for a 9pm dinner. Now keep in mind this location is in a strip mall so we were not expecting a lot. just a place open to eat. I normally do not drive by this location so it has been some time being in that neighborhood. Well i was blown away they have remodeled the whole place it is awesome inside with a wonderful outside eating area with fire pits. We were seated immediately and our waiter was there within minutes we had our wine and ordered I had the wild salmon and my wife the slow cooked bbq half chicken it was very good no complaints price was fair the atmosphere was great and service as well will come back again"

  • "Celebrating our anniversary, we brought a special bottle of wine and left it with the host. While waiting for our table, we enjoyed a drink at the well staffed bar. Drinks were amazing. When seated, the wine was waiting for us at our table. Service was outstanding and the food was very good. I'll be coming back!"

  • "I lived in this area for over 17 years and just discovered this restaurant a year ago. how did I miss this gem? a little noisy but great food, wine list and special drinks (Pesco sour and Caipirinha). The fire pits outside are great. wish the view was better than a parking lot."

  • "This was our first time dining at Dry Creek Grill and it was wonderful! The staff is friendly and well-trained, efficient and professional. The ambiance was welcoming and refined. The food was delicious with beautiful presentations, we really enjoyed every dish! Loved the outdoor seating with the fire pits, it would be a great place to enjoy a cocktail and an appetizer while waiting for a table."

  • "The food was good, the service excellent, the beer list better than average and they have a lots of flat screen TVs. It was Fathers Day, we had reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant can be pricey (my prime rib was $47) I have eaten there 3 times and have never left hungry. The salads were small but contained unusual combinations which made them tasty. My only complaint was the noise level which was high but not enough of a deterrent to keep me from returning."

  • "Very expensive - doesn't warrant it as extremely noisy w/kids crying thruout our meal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our second visit and first visit for our guests. Will NOT BE VISITING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "Food and service very good, but the noise level was too loud. I was screaming at table mate sitting across from me, and when I used the ladies room, my ears hurt from the level of noise. Ate dinner at 7 pm on a Thursday night. Ask for a quiet booth."

  • "A hidden gem in San Jose, Dry Creek Grill was found to be very good service with high priced a la carte menu. Probably would not return except for special occasion. Specializes in steak, but offers small variety of other main course items. Alcohol is over priced. If you don't know where to look, you may not see this restaurant located in small strip mall"

  • "Too pricey for just okay food. The Opa was overcooked and the server forgot about us. We won't be coming back or recommending it."

  • "Dry Creek Grill had been highly recommended by two friends, and we were very pleased that we went. It was a wedding anniversary dinner date, and it was delightful. Wide variety on menu, including a fun and informative drink list. Looking forward to trying a Happy Hour. I've heard it's a good time for an after work beverage with friends."

  • "Dry Creek Bar & Grill great food, very nice atmosphere and decor very stylish. Nice selection of choices for dinner. Our dinner of Prime Rib Stroganoff, Prime Rib Dip was savory & tender. The Caeser salad along with the chilled shrimp was tasty. Dessert, Boston Creme was a delight. I would highly recommend this place, for dinner with your significant other. Superb!"

  • "... well I want it to be good, very good! Strogonaff was good, was lacky a little flavor This visit, we had to re-order the cornbread app. because it was not hot, barely warm. the second order cam quickly, the plate was burning hot, the butter was melting the outside of the slices were hot the inside was maybe warm!!!! Make sure you ask for it right out of the oven, not the warming tray! The BBQ plate was okay, the slaw was good.... Will I return, well maybe but not immediately."

  • "Warm Belvedere martinis and cold mashed potato's. They really need to change their selection of olives for the martinis...tasteless and pitted. I will bring my own olives next time. "

  • "If you like to share small plates, be sure to request Bar menu, as there are few appetizers that are terrific, and not on the regular menu. Tempura green beans, yum. The Kennebec hand sliced potato chips with your choice of pulled pork, smoked brisket or chicken...and a few more. Plenty of fish, steak and other choices. The Buluga spinach was raved about (came with Halibut). Haven't had anything we were disappointed in. Really good sides, often prepared very differently. Often come with party of 6 or more, service is always terrific, and they pace the meal well. Chairs are comfy. It can get quite loud, and hard to hear your tablemates. We have sat at tables in all areas and there aren't any quiet areas. "

  • "Supposed to be the "in" place for San Jose....I'd say it's meh. First time I went I ordered ribs and a small bone was caught in my throat. Not nice. Then second visit I ordered Grilled Pork Chop, just ok. The salads were yummy, but main courses were a lot to be desired. We won't be coming back unfortunately. Really nice atmosphere, if only the food were amazing!"

  • "We were very excited to return to Dry Creek Grill. The steaks we had were cooked perfectly. Substitutions were handled very well. Our server did not check on us until the plates were clean. I had been trying to wait a bit to ask for bread, but after 30-45 min, I realized I was not going to get any service. And I could see our server checking in on other tables. This was odd, unexpected, and left the experience less than satisfying. We will return, just hope to get the same excellent service we are used to. "

  • "Went for a work dinner. The black cod was out of this world. One of the best dishes I have ever had. The waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and very funny. Can't wait to go back. The only draw back is there needs to be a balance with the music. It was difficult to sit at the larger tables and be heard or hear what others were saying, because the music was just a touch too loud. Might consider turning it down and keeping it as background music not the focal point."

  • "I went here on date night with my wife. This place is located between Downtown Willow Glen and The Pruneyard so you'll need to plan on driving to the next part of your date (whether it be a movie, bowling, etc). Food was very good and the staff was very attentive so it was worth the drive. We'll definitely be going back again to try some of their other items."

  • "My sister-in-law recommended this local gem and we are glad we tried it. The variety of food was impressive and our server was friendly and knowledgeable, ready to provide recommendations. I had the Memphis style pulled pork paired with the Santa Cruz Amber beer and it was delicious. My wife and I are looking forward to returning to try several other dishes. "
