Diner Reviews
  • "We've been there before where we've waited an hour and a half for a table. Calling for reservations doesn't work when they are busy...best to go through open table for a reservation. This time, it was a Sunday evening and it wasn't crowded at all. Very quiet. The food is always good...and if you like Sushi...it's the best!"

  • "Food was excellent as always! we got our favorites, lettuce wraps, miso soup, drunken fish roll, spicy tuna, kamikaze roll and fried bananas. Our server Sean was just as great as the food! Thanks for a great night!"

  • "Drunken fish had a good selection of sushi which is what I was looking for. The starburst roll was my favorite of the ones I tried. I also enjoyed the cheesecake dessert. We will be back sometime."

  • "Wait staff a 10. Service a 10. Food a 10. Atmosphere a 10. As usual is doesn't get much better.."

  • "Fruit flies buzzed all around our table, the menus were grimy and unclean, the sushi was overpriced and very poor quality. Restrooms were equally filthy. We are definitely not coming back and will let friends know not to frequent this establishment. The dirtiness and flies really needs to be addressed."

  • "We went for my wife's birthday. As always, the food and service was great."

  • "I made my reservation online. It did not show in their system when we arrived, so we were seated at a table in the back near the bathroom. It almost felt as if I was sitting in the hallway. I even had my confirmation email on my phone that I showed them."

  • "My husband and I have been to Drunken Fish twice, and both times were superb! The sushi is wonderful - very fresh and great mixtures. We love this place, but because of the price, we can only go on special occasions. It is well worth the price, we just can't go all the time of on a whim. This is by far, our favorite sushi place in St. Louis."

  • "The food was amazing but the cocktails were terrible. We have been to another location before and this one was the most disappointing. You could see how unorganized it was. It also took a very long time to get each thing we ordered due to the confusion in the kitchen area."

  • "Michelle was an awesome bartender! Had a great time talking with her, while she made some great drinks! She was friendly and fast and patient...especially because of the fAct that we got there 15 min before the kitchen closed. "

  • "This is our favorite restaurant. We have been going here for years. The food is still good but the atmostpher has taken a turn downward. When we arrived at our reservation time we were greeted by a woman, who we were later told was the manager. She was unfriendly and dressed in what my wife described as yoga pants. She didn’t seem to fit and we thought she might be better off working at an Old Family Buffet. The rest of the staff were nice as was our waitress but the place had a different feel, less chic. There are plenty of places to get good and less expensive sushi, but we’ve always liked TDF. We hope this experience was just a fluke and not a trend. We will certainly give them another shot. "

  • "All of the orders were slow due to too many people. Not sure would it be better if visited the restaurant other than Saturday. "

  • "The only problem was the service was very slow. It took way too long to her our food and even longer to get our check. Almost an hour to get our check."

  • "Make sure u clarify the Groupon with the waitress. We did with the hostess and the server but was completely shocked when both said we could still take advantage of the happy hour pricing and then our bill total was over $200! We were expecting about $50 after the Groupon. Also, One of our orders was wrong and the waitress argued with us and never fixed it"

  • "Good food. Had sushi and rolls. Edamame was good. The tuna appeared less than fresh."

  • "This is the first time I have ever tried Sushi, and our waiter was VERY helpful in "educating" me. I tried her recommendation, and I was very pleased. In fact, I am going back this week, and I plan to "branch out" in the Sushi world."

  • "Overall the food that was good. I have been told my many different people that the Drunken Fish is one of the best Sushi restaurants in St. Louis. The sushi there was good but in my opinion it is not worth the extra money. Some of the standard rolls there are about $13 - $16 and I do admit that they are better than other places but no where near worth a $4 - $7 mark up. I also got a large bowl of miso soup for $7 and to my surprise it was the same size and quality of any other sushi restaurant that sells it for $2.50. The worst part about this visit through was the service, we were constantly ignored. For a meal that should only take 45 minutes we where there for over 2 hours. It looks us over 30 minutes to even pay the bill. "

  • "We are regulars here so we know what we like and we know what to expect, which is a very well prepared and served meal. This past Friday for the first time we had a meal that wasnt up to par. Chicken wings not crisp and teriyaki not as good. Waitress said next time order them crisp so she can watch for it. Not really acceptable as it should be crisp out of the kitchen and we had no reason to expect otherwise and give that order. Tuna Poppers a completely different sauce OK but not nearly as good. Gyoza, poppers, wings served at room temp. Great maki rolls, big and generous. Sashimi yielded great salmon and tired, sad, purple tuna. White tuna small pieces. Eel nigiri very good. Basically kitchen prep issues. We expect better for the money."

  • "Reservation made for two, weekday, 6:30. Place nearly empty so why put a couple at the one table that is right by the door to the kitchen and right by servers counter where they pick up the food. Service was slow, taking too long to return after saying "I'll give you a few minutes." Menus were left on the table throughout the meal. And surprisingly, the food was bland."

  • "Enjoyed our visit. 4 of us shared 2 apps, Sashimi platter, 2 rolls and a dessert cheesecake roll. All great for sharing! Especially dessert roll - perfect 8 piece sushi looking dessert - easy to share. Sashimi was very fresh. We like to wrap rolls in cucumber instead of rice and they will do that on any roll! (no rice at all, then)"

  • "I took a girl, now my girlfriend, on a first date to your restaurant on a Saturday night. I've been to this location before, and thought it to be a great place for a first date, and it did not disappoint. The service was helpful, the food was good and arrived in a timely fashion, and the experience itself was great. We will most likely be returning on future dates."

  • "We were very pleased with our meal at The Drunken Fish. They have excellent Sea Bass, if you like fish. The make over of the restaurant was long overdue, and is now much more comfortable."

  • "As I was eating my sushi... I found a piece of plastic wrap in one piece. I am a chef and I understand that the fish is wrapped in plastic while being chilled. Anyways, the manager was notified and when Andy came over , he was not apologetic at all. He simply said," well the fish is wrapped in plastic and this happens sometimes!" What?! I'm sorry but plastic was not listed as an ingredient so it should not be in my food...ever!"

  • "We dine here often. Always good sushi, good service, and a good time. My only suggestion is that they should expand the Bar area if possible"
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "The atmosphere was great and the food was good too. I wish we would have had better service I understand that she was busy but she wasn't very prompt or attentive to any of her tables. The martinis were wonderful but the one mixed drink I had taste like soda."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "The food was good, not fantastic. The waiter we had was terrible. If we had paid full price I would have been very disappointed. I always feel like the waiter makes or breaks the experience at a restaurant and unfortunately this was not a good experience. We only get a "date night" once a month and this was not a positive experience."

  • "The food is always great but the service is always slow. I have visited The Drunken Fish many times service has been slow on every occasion with one exception. Last visit I requested more wasabi and it was not delivered until we were more than half way through our meal."
