The prices here are especially (only?) good at happy hour, and the sushi and sashimi are very satisfying. It may not be the best in town for sushi, but it is one of the coolest spaces for it and worth braving the traffic and parking challenges of the Power and Light District for. Will need to try a wider selection of menu items on another visit.

After making a reservation online in advance we arrived at Drunken Fish about 10 minutes early for our dinner reservation on a Wednesday night. They were pretty full when we checked in. The hostess said it would be 10 minutes and that they were clearing off the table. We waited in the bar area ( in view of the hostess) for 25 minutes and when we noticed people who had walked in after us being seated we went back to the hostess. She asked "how can I help you?" again. We explained the situation and she said oh it will be just 5 more minutes. We waited at least another 12 before being seated at a table. The food, as always, was wonderful and our server was very nice as well. However, we were very disappointed that it took over 30 minutes to be seated when we had a RESERVATION. I would not waste my time with a reservation just show up expecting a long wait.

There were 4 in our party and we ate allot! Enrooting, except one was fabulous. One sashimi we had was not great, and management came over and took a look and said it had been cut wrong (had chewy cartilage). Manager very apologetic and took care of problem immediately. The place is a bit crowded, as in tables very close together, but overall a great dining experience!

Arrived for reservation, was checked in by hostess, and then waited while she seated two groups with reservation times after ours. Then asked again for my name and promptly seated us. Server was very friendly and attentive. Food was good. Wine tasted like it had been opened a while but did not send it back. Had theatre tickets to the REP but no one was aware of the 15% discount advertised for season ticket holders. Luckily, I had brought the book from the REP. Manager came and took a picture for future reference. Discount was honored. All in all, good evening.

This was my first time at Drunken Fish and I would recommend this restaurant to other. It had a nice variety of sushi options and the prices were reasonable. The wine list also had an good variety with an array of prices to fit most budgets. The service was excellent. Our servers name was Jordan and he was very attentive. I would definitely go back.

Wife and I were out of Town and wanted to try something different in KC, and Sushi sounded good. I expected much more. Sushi was very good, if not particularly imaginative, appetizers were "bleh." Bartender couldn't figure out how to make a Gibson, and then the drinks we did get were very watery. Service was uninspired, probably detracted from the experience. I can get equal or better Sushi and service/dining experience in 3 different places in Lincoln, NE alone.... that's a bummer.

Food is always excellent. Priced well service has always been top-notch, even a new waitress Saturday evening (Stephanie) was well trained enough to make excellent recommendations. My constant and only fault with the place is the noise level is way too much. It's very hard to have a casual conversation.

The place is always very busy but I don't know why customers keep coming back. Both times I've gone the food has taken an extremely long time to come out, the last time it took an hour and 10 minutes, it was ridiculous. The cocktails and martinis are overpriced too for not having very much alcohol in them. I am all about hot spots and having a good time but drunken fish disappointed me both times I went.

My parents were in town & had never eaten sushi, so my wife & I brought them to our favorite sushi joint in Kansas City. As always, the food was fantastic. They really do a phenomenal job with the food here. The service? Eh... Our 8:45 reservation go us seated at about 9:15. It was a busy Saturday night though & the hostess was doing her best. When we headed upstairs though, that hostess literally walked off before we were even off the stairs & without saying a word. She eventually turned back & angrily ushered us to her from across the room while she rolled her eyes, visibly annoyed. We almost walked out at that point. Literally the worst service experience of my life. 30 minutes later we had water. Yes, 30 minutes. Food was great though.

I took a group of ladies here for a friends birthday. Within minutes of being seated a waiter dumped an entire tray of waters onto my back completely soaking my hair, outfit and handbag. The waiter apologized and scurried off and we never saw him again. I ran to the bathroom and when I returned there was another waiter taking our drink order. I requested to speak to a manager about the incident and After receiving apps and drinks (about an hour later) the very rude unapologetic manager shows up and says "well what do you want me to do give you more napkins?" I explained to him that I've had better service at Applebee's and I couldn't believe a MANAGER of all people would represent a company this way. He left without resolution!

Our favorite rolls are the Spicy Eskimo and the Starburst. The Gyoza are also delicious. Service is usually very good, but we were disappointed in our waitress the last time we were there, which is why service is rated as good. Fantastic selection of rolls, although a fair majority of them have some form of tempura in them. Our server was fantastic and we can't say enough great things about him. We come here quite a bit. I won't lie though: a big reason is because of the location. There are so many inconsistencies to this place. We've actually decided we like the one in Leawood FAR better. I ordered sashimi in both locations, and the Leawood location's cuts were almost twice as big. The rolls are sometimes too sloppy here. Part of eating sushi is the beauty of the plate. It's up and down here yet the Leawood location is always beautiful. We have started to go to Nara more. Several of our friends have had the same experience. If someone else opens a good sushi place in the downtown area, Drunken Fish will be in trouble.

Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance to grab before a concert. Showed up and got seated on time order or drinks and food immediately and was told we would get it in time. Took 25 min. For our wine to get to our table and then waited another thirty with no sign of our food, waiter told us it was next up and said he run our cards ahead of time. When he can back with our cards he said he was wrong and the food would be another15 min. Nothing was offered to us for our inconvenience and our order had to be cancelled after waiting an hr.

Starting with drinks, I had a Mai Tai and my girlfriend had the "Drunken Fish" cocktail. Both were strong, and reasonably priced considering the area. We began with the chicken skewers appetizer, which was tasty but unremarkable. The sushi rolls themselves were good, but not great. I did try one of their "signature" rolls - the Philly Cheesesteak Roll - and was pleasantly surprised. The spicy salmon roll and California roll were average to slightly above average. Dessert was fried banana won-tons with vanilla ice cream. The won-tons had a caramel sauce drizzled on them, but I feel like they were still missing some flavor. Service was friendly, but somewhat slow-paced - be prepared to spend some time savoring your drinks and apps.
