Diner Reviews
  • "We had an awesome meal, great variety of rolls and the tempura veggies were outstanding. The $70 Group-on made the experience even sweeter."

  • "My wife and I went here on our trip to St.Louis. Great service...the sushi chefs are fun to talk to. Learned a lot about sushi!"

  • "Our waitress, Chelsea, was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She was charming, outgoing, and helpful with every question we had. She gave good recommendations on their best sushi rolls and their house sake, and checked in on us frequently to assure we were having the best dining experience possible. Everything tasted superb and of great quality, and this is coming from someone who eats a lot of sushi. The hot house sake was also terrific. Also be sure to try the fried green tea ice cream. The restaurant itself is unique and charming, my only critique of the entire experience is the they music play. It was pop mixed with techno-y type music. Either some traditional Japanese music or softer music would enhance to feel there."

  • "My boyfriend and I love Drunken Fish, especially when they put out a Groupon. Normally we go to the Central West End location and have always had a great experience. We live downtown so the past 2 times we went to the Laclede's Landing location instead. The food and service have always been top of the line. My only complaint is that both times we have been sat right by the kitchen door so you can smell dishwater and there are constantly employees going in and out. It is not a deal breaker where we would never go back but I was surprised to get seated there more than once, probably because other people ask to move which I would never do. "

  • "I love this place. Great food, ambience, service. Everything is top notch. We had the best table in the whole place, right next to the large open doors. Definitely try the Spiderman, White Tiger and Drunken Fish rolls. I highly recommend dining here."

  • "This was a great find. Awesome recommendations from Yelp, Opentable and the Four Seasons!! Wonderful service and fun night even when it's pouring outside! "

  • "Great quality sushi & food. Fine dining with dress as semi-dressy. Outside park in lot directly across from it or in garage for the St.Louis arch nearby and walk (very close). The manager Cory is always very concerned with diners being happy. Orders are brought quick. Many of the staff have been there for years. Live music on weekends (one-man show). Weekends can get busy (I recommend a reservation) and a bit loud with chatter because most groups come then, but week nights are very quiet & romantic. Extensive wine, cocktail, sake list, & menu too. You could come every day & try something new! A bit pricier than the norm but nothing outrageous. No seats near front door so no drafts. Will do singing and a dessert on birthdays."

  • "The food was not as fresh as usual but overall it was an okay experience."

  • "This was my first time at The Drunken Fish and I was truly not impressed. I tried it based on rave reviews from friends in my age bracket...early 30s. Our server, John, was the best part of the entire experience, everything else was truly subpar. We made reservations and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. We had a seat at the bar, and after 15 minutes, we still had not been addressed by the bartender. We finally were seated at a booth directly across from the kitchen/server pick up station. Of course, this was the only seat available, so for the duration of our meal, we had numerous interruptions and lots of noise. The drinks were overly sweet and, equally, overpriced. The food was mediocre and not satisfying."

  • "The sushi was amazing, but the service was slow. Our waitress wasn't around often, but the bus boy kept our waters full and was quick to clean up which was very nice. Overall, it was a good experience."

  • "Got a late reservation on the Mardi Gras Eve. Nice quiet table. excellent service, excellent food. Try and make this place everytime we are in St Louis."

  • "It's been a long time since I've been to this location, and the outside almost appeared do be closed. The place was pretty empty, but the food was good and the service was decent. Pretty pricey for just decent though."

  • "I went there with my 4 kids and although is isn't considered a "kid friendly" restaurant, the waiter could not have been nicer. He was friendly with my children and the staff provided excellent service. The food was DELICIOUS! My kids and I highly recommend the crispy eel roll."

  • "Wonderful food, great drinks and wonderful service! The only problem was we had to wait 45min to and 1hr for our 7:30 reservation! They were packed and trying their best, but some sort of compensation would have been nice...maybe some free edamame, because we were starving and the wait was a little rediculous."

  • "I reserved the seating for two. Forced to front of resturant where cold draft with 'kill' the front seating area. But Corey abilities to host us made us forget about the freezing temps and enjoy and unforgettable 2nd date. Great food as always!"

  • "We love drunken fish and have been to many locations. Then sushi is great! This location is my least favorite- strange waiter and hostess. We will go back to drunken fish, but not this location again."

  • "We ate at the Drunken Fish at 5 pm, so we would not be late for a 7 pm concert. We were seated right away, and our server was very friendly and attentive. Our food was good, and arrived quickly as I would have suspected since there were only two other tables seated when we ordered. The two negatives I would note are that the booth seats were not very clean, And while we were there, one of the cooks pulled the vent hood filters (to clean them I suppose) which made the vent hood very loud! Currently there is also a lot of road construction in front of the restaurant, so watch your step. I would like to go back some time and eat a little later to see how the place does with a larger diner group."

  • "The Drunken Fish exceeds my expectations with every visit. The staff is super friendly and the food is to die for. I recommend the Superman Roll and the Drunken Fish Roll."

  • "The actual restaurant front door was very difficult to get to due to construction. There was not even a path made to get to the front door. Once we made it to the restaurant we were seated right away (since we had reservations). Make reservations on the weekend. Our table was right next the a window and it was very cold the entire time we were there. Otherwise good service and good food."

  • "Great food, great atmosphere! Our server Alyssa couldn't be more sweeter. The only thing is the construction is an eyesore and the snow and ice was dangerous to walk on! I definitely would go again! My favorite specialty roll was the Eskimo roll! Def recommend it."

  • "I took my wife to Drunken Fish Friday night and it was outstanding! The service was extremely attentive. There were multiple people who made sure every aspect of our experience went smoothly throughout the visit. The food was incredible! I have never been much of a sushi fan, but will definitely be back."

  • "Since we arrived in the early evening there was not too much going on even though it was a Saturday. I expect that the restaurant got much livelier later considering all the service staff was dressed as Mario characters. The sushi was very good and it was easy to share the various dishes among the three of us which made it even more enjoyable."

  • "Food was great. Didn't realize there was live music and should've asked for a table where we could have conversation without asking each other to repeat because we couldn't hear what anyone was saying."

  • "The ambiance in the Drunken Fish Restaurant is very serene and peaceful. The dim candlelight is fantastic for couples or groups wanting a tranquil environment for entertainment. The staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu. They also have a good sense of humor when dealing with my Hispanic husband requesting tortillas ;)"

  • "My title should say it all. I found all the sushi to be bland (even for Midwest standards). All the rolls were much more expensive than they should have been for the quality of food. We had a modest discount applied to our bill (we had a 25% off promotional voucher) and neither the server or manager knew how to apply it. There are better places for me to spend my money and get better product. We will not be back."

  • "Stopped in for lunch during the week, it was really quiet. I think it was because it was a bit slow. The atmosphere is very modern and cool. The menu was great, I love sushi and anything Japanese, so it was easy to find something. The calamari salad was light and refreshing. We had two rolls and they were both excellent, fresh. The only concern I had was that there was only one waiter, for all the tables and the bar. I felt bad for him, he couldn't keep up and it seemed the management team was having a meeting right int he middle of the restaurant, so the manager was not able to help him. All in all a great lunch...they just need to have more staff during the day."

  • "With a parking lot directly across the street and plenty of room this is the idea place to start an evening on the landing. The service at the bar was great and the atmosphere is pretty cool. This place is huge. Much bigger than it appears from the street. I had a couple rolls and they were very good. I would recommend this place if you are looking for something besides burgers and beer."

  • "Atmosphere and ambience was great but service was very poor. Went there on a Saturday with a group of friends and waitress was very slow and the place wasnt that packed. Food was pretty good. Would go back but would ask for different server."

  • "I'm not big on sushi. But I had a Philly cheesesteak roll with soy wrapper instead and it was amazing."

  • "I typically love this restaurant, Ive taken a lot of my friends here. However, they offer a happy hour every day between 5 and 7. And again later in the evening. Our reservations were for 6 PM. We were not asked if we were there for happy hour, we were seated at a booth, and when I asked the waitress what the "happy hour" specials were, she told me they are only at the bar. I asked to move, but because we'd ordered drinks from her, we had to close out with her first. Then we moved to the bar, still were not offered a list of the happy hour specials and although I ordered my second drink at 6:50, it was conveniently forgotten until 7:10. So even though we chose to eat during happy hour, I didnt get a single drink at happy hour price"

  • "Went after a tornado warning so the experiance may have been abnormal. The Food was decent AND THE SERVICE was superb. Not as cheesy as an American Japanese steak house. But the food was bordering line; it could have been a bit more authentic but again the taste was decent. Example the yakatori chicken had no sake/mirin flavor it was just grilled. It tasted good but was not yakatori."
