Their cocktails are well crafted and their prices are fair. The Drunken Fish roll is a must! Their fried rice is big enough for at least 4! The staff is courteous and make the dining experience enjoyable. The management stops by multiple times to ensure everything is to your liking. My mom lives in KC and my sister and I both live in different cities so when we get together, we have a lot of catching up to do. The noise level was perfect so that we could easily carry on a conversation, but not too quiet that we felt like the whole restaurant could hear us. We heard that the Happy Hour was one of the best in town so we went on a Friday night to check it out. What a deal. We each had a couple drinks and we shared 5 sushi rolls (which were of very good size) and spent a lot less than expected for a fabulous evening out. Next time, we will try to sit on the rooftop patio, which was closed due to rain that evening. Cool atmosphere and great food (we've had sushi everywhere from New York to San Francisco). Fun takes on classics and tasty originals. I recommend making a reservation at least a week in advance. It opens at 5pm and fills up quickly - by 6:30 the wait was nearly 2 hours. Our group had sushi and all of it was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and looked great on the plate. The special rolls were the best, but I felt they were pricy with some at $16. On the other hand, they had reasonable priced wines by the glass and bottle. Our server, Steve, was very friendly and really tried to make sure we had a good night. The only complaint I have is that our drink service was slow the whole meal. For example, we ordered a round of drinks before dessert, but didn't get them until we were nearly finished. I like it because their strawberry cheesecake dessert roll is fantastic. I don't like it because it's expensive and I seem to always get sat in the worst spot in the restaurant (like RIGHT next to the door on a cold, crowded night). This last time, I froze our entire meal as everytime someone opened the door, I got blasted by cold wind. Our reservation was for 8:15, we arrived around 7:30 because previous event ended earlier than expected. We were told we would be seated closer to our reservation time, which was understandable. 8:45 rolls around and we still haven't been seated. When we arrived, it took a few moments for them to find a table for us, which was discouraging because I had made a reservation and because we could see plenty of pen tables. When we were seated, it was at a glowing table in the very front of the restaurant. The glowing table was great but the chairs were slightly to high and my legs barely fit between the chair and bottom of the table (I'm not a very big man). We ordered warm sake, which was wonderful, and our sushi was outstanding. We had 2 signature rolls and a classic roll. Both were some of the best I've had. We topped off our meal with the green tea fried ice cream.
