Driskill Grill - Driskill HotelBoth my wife and I tried theBoth my wife and I tried the Five Course Chef's selection. Food was good but the portions were tiny. If we return it will be to order from the regular menu.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly impressive! My husband and I made our annual trip to the Driskill grill amd hotel and as usual we left completely blown away. We usually do the sevem course meal, but felt adventurous and did the nine...a choice we did not regret! Bryn, chase and scott took excellent care of us! I continued discussing how remarkable the service was wity my husband. I think this was our favorite time there! I am thinking its a tos up between Friday night and Saturday night when we decided to go there again. The staff remembered us, knew our wine preferences and was quick to make another amazing dining out experience for us. We will most definitely continue our annual trip to the Driskill grill and hotel.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDriskill GrilleIncredible, very comfortable, excellent staff, indescribable food.
Everything we had hoped and expected this event to be!
Thanks, Driskill Grille!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection!Fabulous food, fantastic service and fun historic setting. A must visit in Austin! We will be back for the filet again!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSometimes you just have to splurge. If I had ordered the filet mignon like my girlfriend did, I would've said that this was one of the top 5 dinners in my life but like a fool I decided to get crafty and order the ribeye. While it wasn't bad, there was way too much fat for a 40 dollar steak. That being said, the woman's filet tasted great along with everything else from the potatoes to the bacon wrapped dates we got as an appetizer to the bottle of wine. Oh and the Driskill ice cream sandwich was amazingly awesome. They even had Madeira wine for after dinner which i had to partake in with dessert. You're going to drop some change at this place but if you know that going in, just enjoy the night.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh-end Texas DiningGreat service, wonderful food. British server was top notch. Dessert was awesome. Wines were excellent.
Quibbles...The bacon wrapped dates were overly soft, the tables for 2 were lined along a bench, 2 feet from other guests.
Overall, excellent.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Great FoodThe service, food, and ambiance here was just AMAZING. The food was exceptional and one of the few places where its actually worth the price. From the soups and salads to the entrees and the desserts were all very tasty and well executed. We even had our 7 month old with us and they were extremely accommodating. We would definitely come back next time we're in Austin, TX.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerFood was awesome -- very creative , interesting , and delicious !
Attentive, friendly waiter. Charged for 2nd glass of wine that was never received, but they promptly took that off the bill.
Have not had a better meal in Austin !5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMmenu was very limited, espeicallymenu was very limited, espeically for myself (picky pallet) and my wife (vegetarian)5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Amazing!!We had the 7 course Chef's tasting menu with wines when we had dinner with our son. Every single choice was absolute perfection, including the wine pairings! The service was also superior! I can't imagine a better evening & we can't wait for our next trip to Austin to do it again. If you haven't had this experience, it's an absolute must! One of the best evenings we've ever enjoyed!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceWe had dinner before attending a concert at The Paramount Theater. The food was great, the service wonderful.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great serviceThis is one of the finest restaurants in Austin. Make reservations early, as the dining experience is relaxed and intimate, and tables go quickly.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs expectedI guess I'm a food snob, but I tried the 7 course dinner and wasn't impressed because I felt like I've had it all before. Maybe parts of 2 dishes were creative, but the rest was as expected and didn't blow me away. Nonetheless, my family and friends enjoyed their meals very much. So if you've never tried a fancy, multi-course meal, than this is a great place! But if you're expecting something different, go elsewhere!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't beat Driskill's meatAll courses superbly delicious. Soup was divine. Filet perfect. Best venison I've ever tasted & perfect pairing with wild boar chop. Historic atmosphere of the hotel and bar is magnificent. Service was very good, but was overshadowed by the excellent quality of the food. Waiter great. Sommelier less so.
Pricey, but well worth it.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service and foodOur waiter Bryn was great and the food was too! We will definitely go back for special occasions.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant restaurantBeautiful room, delicious food. My son had the filet mignon that is aged in premises. He said it was wonderful. I had the halibut. Exceptional meal great service.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe 7 course meal with wineThe 7 course meal with wine pairings was an exceptional experience. The sommeiler excellently paired the wines and was most cordial, knowledgeable and helpful. We were never hurried or rushed and the relaxed dining experience allowed us to fully savor the chef's outstanding preparations. The beet salad was a special favorite.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific nightOverall experience was great. The food was outstanding, and the wait staff were very polite. They really make sure you enjoy your time there. We started with the Driskill Caesar Salad, and then moved forward with the Ahi and Filet Mignon. Both were prepared perfectly. Would definitely recommend this for a special night out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSmallest Particle in the Universe! The portions on the tasting menu are extremely small. I left hungry, which was my choice, but I felt after 2 hours of a lovely, but extremely tiny seven course "legendary flight" local options on Austins street scene were my best dessert. Otherwise, the place is wonderful, great bar, one of the best in town...and a chef with an excellent taste for what diners enjoy, and a menu that could dissatisfy only problemites. My only advice...avoid the tasting menu if you want a heavy course, otherwise try one of their other excellent items...word to the wise...if the portions too small, don't say you heard it from me!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMScott and Kenny helped makeScott and Kenny helped make our night unforgettable. Every little detail was perfect.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealFriday night meal for two, initially worried as it was quite quiet but it soon filled up. Simple menu yet with interesting flavor combinations everywhere. We went a la carte but would really like to try the tasting menu when I'm back in town. I tried the bacon wrapped dates (stuffed w/ chorizo & cheese) as an appetizer, the sweet and savory combo was a delight. For mains I had Rib eye, lady had the Fillet, both cooked as requested and delicious. As it'd been our first meal out in a while we pushed the boat out for a great Burgandy for me and a half bottle of Sancerre for her, both were great and served with a miniumum of fuss. What made our night was the service from everyone but particularly Bryn who was fantastic, attentive and a hoot!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful dining experienceA wonderful dining experience for my girlfriend and I, We thoroughly enjoyed every part of the meal.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I really enjoyedMy husband and I really enjoyed a nice dinner there for our 14th wedding anniversary. The hostess was very sweet, she let us know it would be a few minutes before our table was ready, even though we had made a reservation - which just isn't a big deal to me. Apparently it was a big deal to the couple that came in after us with a reservation because they huffed out after being rude to the hostess when she said their table wasn't ready. She was a little flustered by the experience when she seated us, but we let her know we thought she handled their boorish behavior really well. Your servers/manager were all very outgoing and nice, as well as attentive, though they could use a little more training in the "fine dining/serving" area.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExperience the fancy side ofAustin!Very nice, old Vintage atmosphere and lovely service. The only negative is we didn't see real healthy selections on the menu but they were accommodating.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, service and ambianceThe food, service and ambiance were all fantastic! can't say enough about this place!!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceJohn, our server was outstanding! He really made our date special. Thank you.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe continue to be awed byWe continue to be awed by the thought that is put into each dish served at the Grill. Each ingredient in a dish serves a purpose and enhances the flavor. We do the wine pairing when dining here - always such a pleasure! Highly recommended for a special treat!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice intimate restaurant.Nice intimate restaurant. The steak is worth ordering for sure.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic Austin fine diningI ate at The Driskill Grill during Austin Restaurant Week. The appetizer and entree were quite good. The grouper was perfectly cooked and full of great flavor. Lovely presentation. I could take or leave the dessert (poached pear); it was very simple and lacking something...especially compared to the other option (chocolate crunch bar) on the menu that my companion ordered.
They also presented us with an amuse bouche and sweet nibble at the end. Both were quite good.
Ambiance is great; it's set in a historic hotel. I've been told that Driskill Grill skews old, but ARW was a good mix of folks...likely due to the low price of the set menu. Our servers for the evening were very friendly and efficient. We felt like we were in good hands.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch all around! ServiceTop notch all around! Service was spectacular - helpful but not intrusive or overly attentive. We ordered dinner off the Restaurant Week menu, which can sometimes be disappointing, as some restaurants diminish portion sizes or serve un-exciting dishes. Not the case here! Steaks were beautifully prepared, side dishes were flavorful, sauces were phenomenal. We'll definitely be back!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI went there for dinner withI went there for dinner with a friend before a theatre show and the wait staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst class service and worldFirst class service and world class food. A wonderful place for a special night out.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food !! And greatDelicious food !! And great service - very professional.
The restaurant is quiet and one can actually have a conversation - How nice !!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDriskill is getting even better!Just went to the Driskill since the Hyatt group took over. The menu changes were excellent! The dishes seemed a little more adventurous and special. The wait staff was very attentive without being over anxious. The servers indicated that they were really pleased with the changes that are happening under the guidance of Hyatt. We are so glad! Driskill will continue to be of our favorites in Austin!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night! We had the most wonderful time at the Driskill Grill. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion. The food is outstanding and the service as good as anywhere I've ever been. I highly recommend it.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone was so nice and sweet!Everyone was so nice and sweet! I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the food!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
