Scallops were seared to perfection and followed by Trout with crispy scallions and artichoke which was magnificent. Can't wait to taste all the new and improved menu items!"

The halibut was more delicious than I could have imagined, cooked to perfection, sitting on a white sauce made of celery root among other things that was delectable. The beet salad was wonderful also. Plating of the food was like a work of art. I left wanting to return immediately to enjoy the same meal again."

  • "Driftwood dares to be different. Fact of life: different is not always better. Nice to have a restaurant that tries, dares even, to be different. We liked everything we tried, but some dishes were not notable, not exceptional, so too, some of the combinations do not exceed the sum of the parts. Highly recommend Brussels sprouts with kimchi bacon, mint, scallion -- hard to believe recommending brussels sprouts at a seafood restaurant -- these were no longer brussels sprouts, they were elevated to extraordinary. Chargrilled octopus was good but not as good as available from street vendors in Bangkok. Red snapper with fiddlehead ferns was good; first time for fiddlehead ferns: very interesting, special treat, will look for them again."

It is all divine....but our favorite thing is ordering the mussels for an appetizer and then dipping the grilled bread into the sauce once we've finished the mussels off.....and then ordering another round of the bread to sop up more of it.   • "Have been to Driftwood many times altho' it's been a year since our last visit. This was not the fabulous treat it has been. Had an 8:30 reservation but did not get seated until after 9:00. Our waiter was competent but not more. There was a long wait between the appetizer & main course and the main courses had cooled off by the time we got them. I had mussels but had to eat them with a dinner fork . Food was good but not stellar. The scallop ceviche was slices dressed with sauce-odd. The mussels, an evening special, we're mediocre-they were not hot, no spoon offered for the broth, and at least half were barely open. Main courses were very good but not a good temperature. The bartender, Ryan, is fabulous- personable & good cocktails."

  • "I had a high recommendation from a friend for this seafood restaurant which did not live up to my expectations. The noise level was a distraction. The menu was limited and one member of our group referred to the selections as " too offbeat ", certainly too pricey and small-portioned for the location and "diner ambiance". The Cotuit oysters were covered with grapefruit bubbles/foam, an accompaniment which only obscured the raw oysters which should be seen before eaten The beat salad was delightful but the special for the evening, red snapper was dry and without interest. My companion truly enjoyed the seared scallops and pickled shrimp. Both desserts, ginger cake and pannacotta, were moderately satisfying."

  • "How many times in one meal can a person say, "What did you say?" I think this meal wins that prize. The food was fabulous, although portions were very small even on the Big Plates. Service was actually very weird. We were told to order our entire meal upfront so as not to have lag time yet we had the most lag time ever between appetizers and entrees. Table who ordered after us were nearly on desert by the time we received our entrees. So all in all, the jury is still out for us as to whether we will return to Driftwood. Fabulous, fabulous food, way too loud, weird service and way too trendy for our liking. For now it's a toss up."

  • "We have struggled to find good seafood in Dallas. Sure, quality (or quantity) may be there but is it really fresh - or innovative? So, when we drove up to what seemed to be a restored diner, it was a question. However, Driftwood succeeded at both! The littleneck clams with chorizo had a broth of excellent umami and spice. Thank God they served it with an amazing small sourdough style loaf to not leave a single drop. We also enjoyed the mussel escabeche - spicy even though there is a challenge to do that with a cold preparation and it was winter outside! Grapefruit curd with avocado-lime ice cream was a palate cleansing dessert with such flair that it was clear that the chefs understand balance."

  • "The food was delicious bit the portions were tiny. You must go early in the day because they tend run out of items on the menu. The service was slow. We had 8:30 reservations but did not get seated for 20 minutes. The bartenders make good drinks bit have horrible service. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes and they never took our order. If you eat here I suggest a lite meal beforehand unless you are willing to order 4 dishes and pay $75 alone."

  • "Did not live up to the reviews. The minuses of the experience were significant. initial encounter with the waiter was an announcement of what we could not order. He did not tell me a crab appetizer had raw jalapeños. After we ordered, he returned to tell us that the restaurant had only 1 serving of the monk fish left. We asked for a basket of bread. Out of bread. Then we waited.The waiter told us our plates were "next up," while we watched other tables being served. Not appropriate in this prices range. Two of the 8 or 9 dinner entrees should not be unavailable. The explanation was "you had a late reservation" -- as if it was our fault their kitchen was understocked. We dined at 830. Unacceptable in this price bracket."

  • "The small plate menu items should have been called tiny plates because that better describes the amount of food for an appetizer choice. For an entree, I ordered the black cod and another guest in my party ordered the grouper. The cod was dry on the edges but moist on the interior. However, it had zero flavor and the sauce it sat on was no help in infusing flavor. The grouper was equally bland. Someone else at the table ordered the poached shrimp which was tasty but not filling."

  • "I booked this restaurant after reading some reviews and looking on line....wasn't really sure what to expect. As soon as we walked in the door I knew I had made a great choice. The place is small but everyone seemed to be having a good time. We were seated immediately. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful the drinks were top notch and the food....could not have been better. All in all I would recommend Driftwood to anyone and we will go back."

  • "Had a reservation at 9pm to celebrate 3 birthdays. We didn't get seated until 10pm and dinner until 11pm! (that is repeatedly hassling them to rush) On top of having to wait 2 hours to eat, they ran out of half of the menu. Ordered the entire dessert menu, they even ran out of candles? The place is quite small; so to run out of everything, is a loss to me. Did the manager apologize or even compensate our dinner, dessert, drink or send us a bottle of wine to make up for the HORRIBLE SERVICE-no?! Between the hour wait at the bar and our food, we spent $400. It totally ruined our plans, appetite and mood. Will never come back or wish this experience on anyone. Thoroughly embarrassed for the manager & shocked this establishment is still open."

  • "I ordered the black cod. It was a tiny bit of fish with some tiny vegetables and it was COLD! The waiter was very nice and took it back to heat and it came back with a hot plate but the fish was still lukewarm. I sent it back again and the same thing. I ate it, but was not that great since it was lukewarm still. Though I liked the ambience it was difficult to have conversation because the acoustics are not good and the table next to us was LOUD. I live in Oak Cliff and have been to every restaurant and was looking forward to my first try at Driftwood because of the popularity. For the price and unsatisfactory food, I will not be back and will not recommend. In fact, I was at Urbano Cafe with 5 friends last night and recounted my experience."

  • "The food was excellent but expensive. Our server was very nice but it took a while to get our drinks. The small lobster roll appetizer was wonderful but $15 for a couple of bites seems pricey. We also enjoyed sharing the mussel risotto. The only thing we didn't care for was the seafood butter which accompanied the bread. Everyone liked their meat or fish entrees very much.. The meal was $80 per person with tax and tip which included an appetizer, entrée and a bottle of wine shared between 3 people and 1 martini, and 4 cups of coffee. Because of the noise level we will probably not go back but we would recommend it for others to try as the food was delicious.. Also, the booth was a bit cramped for 4 people."

  • "Appetizers 2: Lobster roll OK, very small portion. Chicken pasta average. Entrées 2: steak Bavette 3 small slices. Somewhat tough but acceptable flavor. Expensive. Fish (Char) fishy tasting. Wife didn't finish. We've had much better at Remington's, Chamberlain's. Best part of dinner: Roasted potatoes & Brussel sprouts (3 on a 5). Way overpriced and way below average. Poor value and even worse food. Will not return."
