Diner Reviews
  • "It was a bit crowded, but for a busy day service was great. I wish the restaurant had smaller booths for two as it makes it difficult for servers and patrons to get through the dining area without bumping into others. Food was great."

  • "We enjoyed the dinner, food was very good, service as always -excellent."

  • "When we booked, we did not realize it was "Restaurant Week." The place got packed quickly (good for you all) and I think you could have used another server. Ours was excellent: Andrew - very personable, but stretched thin. The food quality was very good, but not "excellent," which is what we are used to from you. We blame it on RW and will return soon."

  • "We were a group of seven, with a 9 year old and a 74 year old birthday person. They gave us a horseshoe table in a nook, with a great view of the other diners and the street. Service was friendly and impeccable -- a combination not often found. Food, as always, was outstanding. The Restaurant Week menu was top drawer. A slight problem: all the main dishes were enticing - it was really hard to choose. Look forward to a return visit."

  • "Great experience. The halibut was outstanding. The outdoor dining was pleasant to the eyes."

  • "Even with the restaurant week $30 special, this was not worth the money. I order the crab cakes and they came with nothing except some leaves of lettuce - no vegetable, no starch, no salad nor any soup. The food looked lost on the plate. I also ordered the Thai calamari which normally sells for $12 if ordered separately. The serving size was 8 small pieces, when I expected enough to feed several people, as you would normally get at any Italian restaurant for far less money. The noise level was bad. A large party of 12 sat next to us and you had to shout to talk. This is NOT the kind of atmosphere I would have expected of a restaurant of this price and caliber. I won't be returning!"

  • "Food was delicious, management and staff went to extra lengths to make our dinner an memorable experience. Loved the quiet booth we were seated at also. Have been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed! Always our first choice for a special occasion dinner."

  • "As always Dressler's didn't disappoint. The food and service were excellent. This is the best place to eat in the Lake Norman area and blows all other restaurants in Birkdale out of the water."

  • "Our reservations were at 5:30pm and this is when the restaurant opens. We were seated immediately and greeted by several servers. All of the servers who stopped by our table were courteous and attentive. It's sometimes difficult for a restaurant to cook steak well done, but Dressler's delivered. My ribeye was perfect. The sides- just okay. I ordered asparagus and mashed potatoes. Initially they brought out roasted potatoes. I tasted them and asked that they correct and bring out the mashed. Both were just okay. Our dessert- apple cake was delicious. I'd recommend to others."

  • "Ate here with family, all adults. The food was very good, nice atmosphere, great service. Not for young children. Prices on par with other restaurants of this type. Valet parking a must. Would go again."

  • "Excellent food, service, and just an overall great experience. Creative dishes were excellent. I had crab stuffed zucchini as a side on my main dish and it was excellent. I don't normally like zucchini, but loved it prepared that way. The ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce was melt in your mouth excellent."

  • "We have been patrons (more like friends) of Dressler's for years now. They never disappoint. This is one of the few places that I'm comfortable recommending to friends, family, and business acquaintances. Jon and Kim Dressler have a winning formula, with great food, a pleasant atmosphere, and a host at each location who makes you feel like you're family from your first visit. John Glenn is a treasure. He will ensure that you have a great experience. And don't miss Mom's homemade desserts. I've bought them for business and family functions over the years, and they're the real deal."

  • "From the minute John welcomed us at the door until he followed us outside to thank us for coming this was an extremely enjoyable experience! This is the best restaurant in the whole Charlotte area. Food, service and atmosphere are all outstanding."

  • "This is an excellent restaurant with excellent service and atmosphere. It was not very busy at 7:00 PM. It is a very upscale restaurant, but prices are reasonable in the $20 - $35 range"

  • "We've rated Dressler's as a five-star restaurant in the past, but Sunday night was a big disappointment. The Rib Eye special was way over priced at $33 and the quality of the meat was mediocre/poor - very difficult to chew with tough gristle throughout. To Dressler's credit, they offered a token complimentary desert which we accepted, but the meal failed to live up to their own high standards. To wrap it up, we attempted to pay a portion of the meal's cost with a VISA pre-paid gift card which led to a 20 minute hassle before they accepted it. Dinner price, quality and service were a big disappointment given the excellent meals we've had there previously."

  • "I've been there before, but don't remember the food being this great. Smooth service and great food. Ambience is a little outdated, but acceptable for Lake Norman."

  • "We had a great meal with six adult family members on a Friday night. Service was professional and friendly. The food was great. Look forward to going back a few times in the next year."

  • "Having it be in Birkdale Village is a definite plus, but I think this place stands on it's own. Spent our anniversary dinner here, meant to be relaxed, casual, people watching, etc., and the food blew us away. Scallops were amazing, and the halibut was fantastic, and a great bonus with lump crab on top. Would definitely go back!!"

  • "My husband is allergic to seafood so I don't cook it at home. So I'm always happy to go to Dressler's because they offer so many wonderful seafood choices, but also some wonderful steak, chicken, and pork options for my hubby. This visit I enjoyed the seafood and grits, loaded with shrimp, scallops and fish in a mild Cajun sauce. Delicious. The service was truly outstanding."

  • "Food was good. Our table was beside a table of office workers. They became increasingly too loud as they consume more alcohol. It made the restaurant feel like a bar."

  • "Dressler's can't be beaten for friendly, honest and truly exceptional homemade food. Service is enthusiastic and accommodating without being intrusive. The menu is typical American food taken up a notch by the excellence of the ingredients and obvious care in the preparation. Portions are generous and everything is delicious!"

  • "My wife and I have always enjoyed Dressler's and this visit was excellent as well. I normally order crab cakes but opted for the blackened grouper special this visit. It was excellent as well. I can always expect good service, Jon and John seem to always have good staff and good service. It is our go to place for special occasions and when we just want a an evening out. Good food, good wine, good service the best reasons we know to dine at Dressler's."

  • "This restaurant was so good the first time, we had to come back, and we were not disappointed! The service is excellent, but they don't hover. The food is delicious and the portions are just right. The atmosphere is perfect for conversation. One of the nicest things is that when you have a reservation, you are not made to wait - you are seated on time. We will go back again."

  • "We had a family renunion at Lake Norman and wanted to take everyone to an upscale restaurant that the adults would enjoy but would also make six children ages 2-11 feel welcome as well. Much to our surprise, Dressler's hit that target exceptionally well. The well-trained staff was gracious to all of the kids' demands. The adults' entrees ran the gamut from filet mignon au poivre to halibut and superb crab cakes, all of which pleased the crowd from around the country. A great choice for families looking for something special while vacationing!"

  • "Dresslers knows how to impress their customer. They provide excellent service, and several food and wine choices for the most discriminating palates. The restaurant is very clean and pleasant to the eye dressed in crisp white table clothes. Best service in Charlotte. The blackened Mahi over lobster risotto was delicious and portion size larger than expected. Calamari appetizer was off tonight -a bit chewy. "

  • "Me and my sister's came to Dresslers to celebrate a birthday! Very welcoming, and the ambiance was perfect. We wanted a fine dining restaurant to celebrate the occasion without the noise of the dinner crowd. From the hostess to the clearing of our dinnerware, it's was a delightful experience. Thank you"

  • "Was there on a Wednesday at 5pm and one of the first dining this evening. The Goat Cheese and Garlic has become our favorite starter, Scallops were great and my father in-law had a perfect blacked heart of Ribeye. We will be back, this is now our favorite Charlotte restaurant! "
