Diner Reviews
  • "Server was great, was super impressed by the staff and how attentive they were. Food was excellent as well, delicious and savoury."

  • "interesting menu, great drinks. our waiter put the bill down on the table when he brought our coffees. really? who does that? we had a late dinner reservation; the last seating. when your bill comes in at $200 a couple, you expect the staff to have some manners."

  • "The food was excellent and there was a great vibe, especially for a Wednesday night. Th portions were VERY small for the most part, but the prices did not reflect the quanatities. The $40 steak was half fat, half meat which was very disappointing. The liver was truly the size of an appetizer, and I am ot a big eater. On the other hand the chiicken could have feed 2 people, which is very inconsistant. The service was excellent though."

  • "Place was packed so was pleasantly surprised when the hostess offered to seat us 30 minutes early. They accommodated dietary requests exceptionally well. Mussels were amazing. Everyone enjoyed the cocktails. Food was good and served hot."

  • "Our server was inattentive. We had to ask 3 times for water. She was less than friendly. The servings were very small and expensive."

  • "Lovely design, fun and energetic. The tartare is outstanding. Service attentive. Pricey but I guess that's Canada for you."

  • "This restaurant is till too noisy (my second time there) for a productive business lunch."

  • "Lively venue with good food, great service and wine list. Very noisy - prepare to leave with no voice left! A place to have fun, but not fot catching up with a friend's news."

  • "Drake 150 has a vibrant lunch scene with a good mix of suits and hipsters. The food is great, the staff is attentive and knowledgable and the venue has a cool, upscale casual vibe. I confidently recommend."

  • "Although the food wasn't awful something just seemed off. The service was quite slow and not very friendly. Especially due to the fact that they weren't very busy. A telling sign, especially on a Saturday night. The eclectic decor is a weak attempt to create the feel of the drake. Has some neat elements but again something seems off. Maybe if the wait staff lost the head to toe denim look and went with something more dressier they could class it up a notch."

  • "Too moisy for dinner, appetizers were good, mains were overcooked and uninspiring. Kitchen seemed overwhelmed."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Food is basic pub fare but at very high prices, I found my waiter did not know enough about the wine or spirits list to make a good recommendation and the service is shockingly slow. An old fashioned will run you 16 plus tip, these are high prices for NYC or London let alone Toronto"

  • "First time at restaurant and went for lunch. Food and service were both excellent, and I highly recommend."

  • "I met a friend at the Drake One Fifty and had a great time overall, but the one complaint I had was the noise levels. I guess the trick is to come with a larger group and get seated in one of the rounded booths. I did this last time and could hear everyone at my table. But being seated in smaller 2-person tables at the back - and being seated between similar tables on either side, made it consistently difficult to have a conversation. I also had to ask the gent sitting at the neighbouring table to my right to move his coat, because he hadn't taken advantage of the coat check and I was pretty much sitting on it. None of this, however, interferes with the quality of the food, the great wine or the superior service."

  • "Loud and full. Seems to be a great spot for guys to go to after work, before they have to put their wedding rings back on and catch their GO train home. And the girls don't seem to mind. Great fun to watch."

  • "Terrific bar and drinks, great design, and tasty homemade food for a reasonable price in this high-ticket area."

  • "Had the ransom note and pink unicorn cocktails both great. Shared the fritti, charcuterie board, and pizza. All very good. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We tried to get a set on Friday but the place was packed. We know that the food and drinks are good here so was kind of expected on a Friday night at about 8. Went back on Saturday, sat at the bar and ate and drank. Kate I belive the bartender was very helpful and suggested some drinks and some things to eat. We declined some of the food options because we were there for the steak tartar."

  • "we are looking at some other options,e.g.the Keg but since none of us in the group tried the Drake One Fifty before,we decided to give a try. It turned out to be a smart choice."

  • "Food sounded spectacular on menus and tasted great, however most plates are extremely small (something similar to Momofuku) and the prices were quite high. The pizza was a very good size however the added olives on my pizza (of which there were maybe 8) cost me an extra $5. Overall, food was alright but wouldn't go back unless I was using an expense account and had a late meal beforehand."

  • "Not particularly busy for a Saturday night. Food was good (especially the cauliflower appetizer). Menu is a little limited."

  • "Went to Drake One Fifty for the first time for a welcome lunch at my new job. The greeter was very welcoming and asked to take our coats as soon as we walked in. Specials were mentioned and orders were taken quite quickly. Food for lunch was a good amount and desserts were great. Our table ordered the steak, the short ribs, liver and onions, salad, and the lobster bisque with the tortellini. Portions were a decent size with the exception of the lobster bisque. I had asked if adding the tortellini would make it a good size for lunch which the server said yes to, but I didn't think it was adequate as there were only 3 pieces of tortellini. Other than that, everything was great."

  • "Food was great....very delicious however disappointed with the server who took care of us that night. He was very unattentive to our needs, very unhelpful and seemed very uninterested in assisting us. Also, we found the tables for two were way way wayyyy to close to each other there was no privacy for our romantic dinner. It was difficult for any conversation without interrupting the table next to us. I also placed a note that it was a special night and we wanted perhaps a dessert and we were not taken care of. I regret choosing this restaurant for our anniversary dinner and dont think will be back"

  • "While the food was fair and imaginative and service excellent, the noise level was intolerable. It was impossible to have a conversation. I couldn't hear the person I was having lunch with. Would never go back or recommend it to anyone."

  • "First thing's first - it is extremely, extremely noisy at Drake One Fifty. Perhaps it was the day I visited (Thursday night) or the location of my table (close to the bar), but I was honestly shouting to my boyfriend for the good part of our dinner. Looking past the noise level, Drake One Fifty is a wonderful restaurant. It has a great ambience, and the food was superb (the beef tartare and seafood pasta are highly recommended). I will return for another meal, but probably not on a Thursday night for dinner."

  • "Drake 150 is new to the Toronto scene and I've been there twice. I found the staff friendly and prompt. Food is very tasty. I thought it was a bit over-priced but good quality."

  • "Excellent food, great service, great Thursday night after work vibe - love it!"

  • "Had to move tables to get to the seat they were so tightly packed. Not a good spot for important or discrete conversations. Ordered oysters - lovely. Charcuterie for husband was nice - enough for two in my opinion. Had a bourbon manhattan on ice and a basil gin smash that was very good. Mains were pickerel w/ brussel (or "brussels" if reading the menu) sprouts and celeriac purée - outstanding. Husband had white bolognese pasta. This is a great spot to go for a table of 4-6. Two ppl get the seating shaft due to space. The menu is truly interesting but servers don't know it inside out. Love the design and lighting. Music was missing - didn't really notice it and I always notice, so not sure why I didn't this time."

  • "This was my second time at Drake 150 and first time on a weekday. 6:30pm - 8:30pm Food was great. Noise level was rediculous! Couldn't hear a word my guests were saying in our booth even after asking to be moved to the quietest place possible. Acoustics seem to be the problem. Big problem! Couldn't hear myself think. Won't be going back on a weekday."

  • "Great vibe for an afterwork drink. The wine list was good and the appetizers were good but the main course was lacking. I had the seared tuna which was nothing extraordinary and a bit salty. My friend had a the steak tartar which was average."

  • "The decor was contemporary-meets-classic, very fresh. I went with 6 ppl, we had a big booth with lots of room. We all ate different meals and each plate looked perfect, chicken, steak, lamb, cod, gnocchi, meatballs and house cured charcuterie. When it came to dessert we couldn't decide, so we ordered one of each. They were all fresh and delicious. I personally enjoyed the Lemon Tart and Pie, yet my husband enjoyed the Olive oil Cake. Overall the service was friendly my only downside is it was busy meaning louder than expected, (The restaurant was busy but the food is amazing) The space is huge and open, this also means it doesn't feel busy."

  • "If you are looking for a sure thing, Drake One Fifty is the place. The sharp yet inviting atmosphere is the perfect place to enjoy nice wine, good food and great company. Whoever designed their wine list knows their stuff and all wait staff are savvy to their menus which is very refreshing. I enjoy ordering a variety of dishes and sharing when I am there. The warm Olives are always a great start and the Drake Poutine is an absolute must have. If you dine on a Friday, be sure to try the plate du jour. pricing and portions are well matched - my favourite hot spot in Toronto right now, reservations are a must as even Tuesdays it gets packed. Enjoy!"

  • "Had a terrific night with friends at Drake 150! Food, service & restaurant all hit the mark! This is a spot to return to!"

  • "We ordered the porterhouse...very good but not like the prime rib. My guests all ordered the single portion prime rib. Not the same."

  • "Food and cocktails were outstanding. Many interesting menu items that included a fantastic pickerel, and pan seared octopus ... The only downfall was that most people would have to take out a second mortgage on their home to eat there. Overall, if you can afford to spend without thinking , Drake 150 is a must try!"

  • "We ordered the Baller which is the market price seafood platter at market price. Very disappointing. Mussel meat that was that the size of my thumb nail and clams that had no flavour. You would think with all the food we ordered they would be treating us well. In addition to the Baller we ordered 4 other apps for a party of 4. We also ordered entrees and desserts and a bottle of wine so you would think service would be great. Perhaps they were thinking just based on the bill we would need to give them a min 15%. We needed to ask for water etc. Creamed Polenta as an entree saved this place from dismal to pretty good. Other entrees were decent as well. Desserts were pretty good, nice portion for the price."

  • "Definitely overpriced for what you're getting but you're also paying for the great ambiance, good cocktails, and the superb service - those 3 things are enough to make me want to go back there, just not for food."
