  • "Bend has so many great restaurants, but I think The Drake is becoming one of my favorites. Great food and ambiance. Server very nice. I love the booths that fits 6. We were there for my husbands birthday so had the whole family. 10-90 in age. I think everyone enjoyed the meal."

  • "Drake is obviously a popular, busy restaurant...inside and out. Reservations are likely a must. Our waiter was very friendly and seemed to have a good time doing his job. He failed to let me know that the rib-eye steak special was going to cost $40 upfront, but he did emphasize it was dry-aged beef more than once. I guess that was the code word for pricey meal. The steak was not a good cut of meet, and was nothing special at all. I have eaten in mediocre restaurants and had a better steak dinner, and paid less than half the price. My wife's pork chop was dry, but she did like how the meal was prepared. My son was happy with his fish and chips, but it was nothing to rave about. Would we go back? Not likely."

  • "Great restaurant in the heart of downtown Bend. The bartender made a perfect martini, very cold which is how I like them. Food was wonderful! I had the pasta special which consisted of orecchiette with diced vegatables and a bacon cream sauce - absolutely delicious. One member of our party had the hangar steak, which was plentiful enough to feed a hungry man, cooked perfectly - described as great. The other two had the pork and beef meatloaf, shaped like a very large meatball with a slice of perfectly cooked bacon draped over the top, sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes, and served with asparagus - both of them loved it. I would highly recommend Drake for a nice dinner out, with or without friends."

There was an antique car show going on in town, so our server suggested we both sit looking out the window so we could watch the show while we had our dinner. By doing so we took up two tables , which was a "big deal" since it was such a busy night, so "kudos" to our server....food was very good, and we did not feel rushed...would certainly go back. satisf"

  • "You may have thought, as we did, that Drake was a second-tier restaurant in Central Oregon behind such fine eateries as Ariana and Zydeco. Guess again. Our recent visit convinced us that Drake is up there with the best, especially if you are a bit adventuresome in your tastes. Yes, the atmosphere is energetic and informal but the food is wonderful and so is the value. If an appetizer of corn-breaded, deep fried peppers stuffed with salmon mousse over raspberry jalapeno jelly sounds a bit strange, they were delicious as was the chilled melon soup. Our main dishes of salmon and softshell crab were excellent as well. We’ll be back soon."

  • "We gathered with extended family, 7 of us. Had a good experience in food & friendly professional service. The appetizer 'popcorn' was a treat, enjoyed by all! Everyone enjoyed their meals, too full for dessert though. The only thing not ideal was the noise level is such that with a group of 7 it was hard to hear others not right next to you. There is outdoor seating, though little tables right on the sidewalk wasn't a good fit for our group. Will be back!"

  • "The only negative was the bar service was rather slow so we had to wait about 12 minutes or so for our drinks which were not complicated by the way. The food was very good. Well presented and tasty. My appetizer salad of beets, plums and a cheese was delicious. A fairly small restaurant so not great for a group but they do combine tables and move things around to accommodate. A nice buzz.....not a quiet romantic spot really. There are also tables outside though a bit close to the traffic."

  • "Before booking my reservation I read some of the prior reviews, which were mostly favorable. I agree with the reviews. The customer service is outstanding. The food was well prepared and nicely presented, along with delicious. Trinity was our server and she is outstanding! She was attentive without hovering and her recommendations were superb. The food was great but the service really made our night. We will definitely be back!"

  • "They took the best dish off the menu and replaced a wonderful filet with a hanger steak! No comparison ! The owner did give me his card and told me to call him personnaly two days prior to our visit. Very nice gesture but I would not be comfortable doing that."

  • "Trust the nightly specials. This week it was marlin, a fish not that familiar to many people. Yes, the waitress was right in her swordfish comparison. The fish was perfectly prepared with a carrot jus and won the hearts of the two people who ordered it. Presentation was lovely. The other diners went with menu standbys, fried chicken and hangar steak. No complaints there. We passed on apps and feasted on desserts. The ice cream sandwich was one to share but brought smiles as its size brought back childhood memories with its accompanying glass of chocolate milk. Flourless chocolate cake gets its own high marks. Drake is a welcome addition to the limited Bend dining scene."

This place is great for people watching, especially on 4th of July. It is right in the middle of town and a good lunch or dinner place to stop off at in the middle of your Bend experience."

  • "A couple of weeks ago we had a not good visit to Drake, but after talking to someone on the phone about it we were offered a $20 gift card. We decided to take advantage of it and boy were we glad we did. We were greeted immediately, taken to a great table, the waiter came over right away. The waiter happened to be the person I talked to on the phone and he made the evening wonderful. We enjoyed the pimiento cheese appetizer, not something you see on the menu everyday. The special was a 12oz boneless ribeye, locally sourced. I could not resist but knew we had to share, and it was perfect. We then ordered dessert which the waiter comped!! We will definitely be coming back"

  • "We continue to be impressed with Drake. Over the past year it has become even more efficient, and has brought on an excellent new chef who is making substantial and welcomed changes. My wife ordered the ahi dish for the second time, and liked it even better. My halibut was excellent and my friend from out of town found the meatloaf outstanding. We will continue to make Drake our standby restaurant."

Must haves on the menu include the portobello fries, roasted beets & avocado salad, shrimp & grits and the brown rice risotto....all fresh and fantastic. Service was polite and efficient, but not rushed. A must for anyone in Bend."

  • "Being from a large market, like San Francisco, New York, or Atlanta, I grew up accustomed to the cream that emerges from fierce restaurant competition. When I moved to Bend, I quickly had to adjust to the lower standards that can flourish in a weaker, less competitive market. Some degree of disappointment in either the food, the service, or both became the expectation at local eateries. This is why I'm pleased to rave about Drake. My wife and I have been their on 5-6 different occasions and we grow more impressed with each one. We had the Fried Pickles, Shrimp & Grits, and the Draper Valley Chicken. The southerner in me found the grits a little lacking but the fried chicken was near perfection. Our server was pleasant and attentive."

  • "Located in downtown Bend, Drake's interior is reminiscent of upscale diner. The owner is focused on creating on a memorable guest service experience every time. With Chef John Gurnee now at the lead in the kitchen (as of roughly April 2014), the food is deliciously memorable every time too. Casual dining dishes witih fine dining details. Check the website for the menu. Daily specials that incorporate season, farm to fork focus are always delectable. One pasta done each day and among the best we have had anywhere. Save room for dessert for seasonal delights. Only drawback here is limited seating and a good amount of it is at high counter height. Make reservations for booth or table. "

  • "This was my 3rd time to dine at Drake and the 2nd time to dine here with my son and husband. When we walked in we were greeted with a "welcome back" by the hostess. We had a great table and the service was very attentive. The food is amazing. My son tried the fish tacos which he thought were great. My husband and I decided to share the soft shell crab sandwich. I asked the waitress if she thought it was big enough to share and she said yes but recommended french fries instead of the usual house chips. When she served us the sandwich had been perfectly cut in half and plated on 2 plates with a large serving of fries on each plate! The sandwich and fries were perfect. The three of us can't wait to go to this wonderful restaurant again."

  • "Drake is my favorite restaurant in Bend. When i go there, I feel like i'm not in Bend, b/c it has a "big city," sophisticated feel. At the same time, it has a cozy feel, like "Cheers," where everybody knows your name. The menu is varied and delicious. You can indulge in fried food or eat lighter fare such as yummy salads and grilled fish. My recent favorite on the menu is the portobello mushroom fries. Strips of battered mushroom that are fried to a delicious, golden, crunchy sheen--melt in your mouth and served with a decadent sauce. See you there! "

  • "Had a wonderful lunch here while visiting from Portland. My wife loved her burrata and fried-green tomato panini & my soft-shell crab BLT was deliciously unique. Service from Tiffany was awesome. She was very helpful on the wine & beer list. Atmosphere was perfect for a nice casual lunch. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Bend!"
