Dragonwell BistroWe went in the early afternoonWe went in the early afternoon so we can give an accurate review of the bar scene, but they layout of the room is condusive for a great bar scene. The Happy hour menu is very tempting and drink price is well priced.
The server was very helpful.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe entry curtains are stunning. The entry curtains are stunning. I like the convenience of the reservation online system. The staff seated us right away and were very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious but we go primarily for the cocktails. We all love the lemon drop. My new fave is the Far East Martini.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Hour WinnerI love Happy Hour -- it's lots less expensive and you get a chance to sample many more menu items. Dragonwell Bistro qualifies as a perfect example with an Asian "tapas" style weekday happy hour from 4 - 6 pm. We had pork lo main, salt & pepper calamari, General Tzo's chicken, spring rolls, chicken satay, and the special steamed boa plus two cocktails. The bill was $43!!
The food was uniformly excellent and the service was brisk & informative. On a somewhat related note, any restaurant that features a photo of the owner hosting dinner with our current President is my kind of place.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the finest ChineseOne of the finest Chinese restaurants on the West Coast! The dumplings were as tender and flavorful as the best we had in Singapore and Hong Kong. The Dragonwell shrimp, cooked with delicate tea leaves and served with the same tea, were delicious. Owner and staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Too bad I live so far away.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is Hen Hao Chi (delicious!)Four of us shared four entrees (duck, scallops, lion-head beef meatballs, noodles), a pot of tea, a bottle of wine and two orders of the bao (soup-filled dumplings). Every dish was delicious. Having spent time in China last year, I can attest that the roast pepper-skin duck was authentically prepared and served. The meat was tender and savory, but authenticity means small bones in some pieces (fact, not criticism). Tea selection was broad, we had kee mun (a red tea) and it was delicious. The bao were tender and the advice on how to eat them was much appreciated. I would recommend this restaurant both for discerning Asian diners and those who want to learn more about authentic Asian food. Prices are moderate.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGathered here for my husband'sGathered here for my husband's birthday dinner mid-week with a total of 7 people. Thanks3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe OpenTable reservationThe OpenTable reservation made the morning of my lunch with a client, and confirmed by email, was not received by the restaurant. Caused some uncomfortable moments as we struggled to get a table. Restaurant excellent; OpenTable not good.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis has been a very reliableThis has been a very reliable place for tasty Chinese food for a long time. I have never been disappointed. I recently discovered that one can request brown rice, which is a nice option.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful night diningHad a wonderful night dining clients.
