Diner Reviews
  • "Went for a date night and had an overall wonderful experience! My boyfriend did the dinela 3 course meal which was a great deal. We both loved the risotto! Only wish was that there were more options for wine by the glass!"

  • "1. our server had too many tables in his section and couldn't keep up - service was very slow and we waited 15 minutes for just the bread and first round of drinks to come out 2. one of the guests has an allergy and the waiter recommended something wrong, another person with the restaurant came by to change the order 3. my risotto was crunchy and stuck to my teeth - requested a replacement. in the meantime everyone finished their apps and I got stuffed on bread 4. in the end - a few people requested a separate checks and waiter said OK... not OK, got one bill oh and did I mention it was a birthday? over all, the food was decent but so many options in LA I don't think I need to return"

  • "Went for DineLA. They offered a great selection from their menu. The wife and I both enjoyed our dinners. We came a little early and hit up happy hour too. We plan on coming back for a HH before going to a show somewhere downtown. Definitely recommend!"

  • "Came here for dine in la with the hubby and was quite disappointed. Both are appetizers were really salty and the main course was just ok. The only good part was the deesert. Wouldn't be coming back here for dine in la..."

  • "Waiter MIA the entire evening after taking the order, which was screwed up by either the waiter or the kitchen (how did an entree specifically ordered, "medium well, NOT RARE", turn up almost raw on the plate?) another missed dish, which the maitre'd exchanged, was appropriately not on the bill when it was presented for payment, but mysteriously showed up in the total when the waiter brought the credit card receipt for payment. Seriously!! Used to be my favorite LA restaurant. Was really looking forward to this dinner. What a shocker"

  • "Drago was highly recommended by a foodie friend and of the 8 of us that were dining, only 1 had been before. We were seated in an awesome private room that really helped our experience and overall the food was great. One of the managers even came to introduce himself. Early in the ordering process the waiter acknowledged that we were going to a performance and had time constraints, but even with reminding him later and then directly asking for the check, it was VERY rushed and uncomfortable for our group. The helper guys seemed to be really trying hard, but there was an overall lack of direction and confusion. VERY disappointment especially for a restaurant of this stature for what could have been a 5 star night."

  • "Drago Centro is a favorite of mine. My only disappointment this past Saturday was that Chef Ian was not there, so I didn't get to see him."

  • "Drago Centro is a delight on every level. Lovely, open style decor and setting, out-of-this-world cuisine, artfully and tastefully presented, with caring and capable service second to none. A superb dining experience on every level."

  • "It was my first time there and I'll be back. I loved their pappardelle and pheasant."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The food was good, but the entrée (pappardelle with pheasant) was too salty. My major complaint was the inattentive service. My group (6 people) was seated promptly at 1 PM. The dining room was a bit noisy at that point, but it emptied out soon afterward. Yet, it took at least 10 minutes for us to get the server's attention to take our orders, and another 10 minutes before the server brought us bread. Afterwards, each course of food took at least 20 minutes to come. It seemed that the servers were more interested in cleaning up the tables than in serving us. Also, some of us opted to have half of our entrees boxed. We were given tickets to claim the boxes before we left, but 2 boxes turned out to be mixed up."

  • "We went for the Dine LA menu and it was terrific. My wife and I both had wonderful dinners and the service was outstanding. One of our favorite restaurants."

  • "My first experience at Drago Centro many years ago, when it first opened and participated in dineLA, I had the most amazing, rich, luxuriant rib dish. Perhaps I've inflated that original experience in my mind, but subsequent visits never quite measured up. Present day, no more meat for me, and vegetarian options on dineLA menus can be scarce, much less amazing, rich and luxuriant. This time, Drago Centro was a wonderful surprise. I had an amazing tomato and ricotta tart with a light basic mousse and a rich stroke of thick balsamic, a delicate yet luxuriant and tangy eggplant parmesan, and a passionfruit pot de crème that practically screamed in your mouth with all its flavor. Thank you Drago Centro, for reaffirming my love for you!"

  • "We love all the Drago restaurants. We live in Pasadena so we frequent Celestinos often. Drago Centro is consistently good no matter what you order. Three of us had pasta and one of us had branzino. All really good. Can't go wrong here."

  • "Chef Drago and his brothers own several restaurants in Southern California. This one is the top of the line. Since they opened Drago Centro we have been there for dinner 4 or 5 times. The food rating should be 4.5 stars, as it ranges from very good to outstanding. It is a place that we will return to periodically."

  • "The ambiance is Downtown power broker cool: white linen, tall glass windows, enough lighting to conduct business. While not the ultimate indulgence in fine Italian, the cuisine is reliably prepared with thoughtfulness & a hint of creativity. The portions are more than adequate with value for the price. Service dwindled. Ushered to the bar as we arrived early, we placed our drink orders only to run out of time and have our drinks meet us at the table about 15 minutes later. We sat for no less than 5 minutes without menus. Greeted by a server who vanished after an intro, our order was taken by an unannounced staff member who lacked refinement yet possessed the qualities of an order-taker. The sommelier was personable and made a stellar pick."

  • "modern Italian done with style. An excellent choice for downtown dining."

  • "We went to a show and thought it would be great. After all, We love some of the Drago brothers restaurants. Not this brother, I guess. The food was over priced and not that good. We waited over a half hour for our table and the service was just ok. I wouldn't return. It wasn't very loud, though. That's always a bonus. We could hear our friends."

  • "The case of a great restaurant, just not sensitive to details...requested via OT, for a quiet romantic table for a special occasion. It was not heeded or acknowledged! We were put in the middle of the "theatre crowd" and pressed to order / eat / vacate as quickly as possible. Not the kind of evening we intended to spend in downtown LA. The whole scene could have been avoided if management had read our OT request and shown just a little personal interest in obliging our stated request. It was all about turning tables and getting people food during a specific window, and we got caught in the middle of it. We expressed our "frustation" to the GM, but it was too late to recover the evening. A really bad first impression!"

  • "Without a doubt, the most moist and flavorful piece of chicken in LA! The truffle mushroom sauce was quite tasty as well. Other people in my party enjoyed fresh, homemade pastas...crab fettuccine and spaghetti marinara."

  • "One of the venerable names in italian dining in this city should be ashamed of the service at this restaurant. A beautiful room...good food...utterly ruined by poor service and an incompetent staff. Maybe some refresher training is in order to keep the name of this wonderful food family from floundering! With all the wonderful dining choices popping up all the time downtown I believe this one will be in deep trouble if they dont clean up their service act!"

  • "Picked Drago Centro on reputation, partially for Music Center shuttle, which worked perfectly. Restaurant is a large open room, extending onto a glassed-in patio. Pleasant, but elusive staff. I had to try harder than I should to catch someone's attention. Wine list offered a number of attractive choices by the glass. Caesar salad excellent. Tasty burrata suffered from too little heirloom tomato. Spaghetti carbonara 1st course good, but over-cheesed, dominating the dish and making it dry. Venison loin was wonderful -- tender and flavorful. Branzino perfectly prepared, firm and sweet. Bomboloni an ideal dessert choice, light and tasty. 2 kinds of very agreeable bread; like coffee and water, lacked replenishment. Nice evening, not flawless."

  • "This restaurant needs someone to teach them how to treat customers the way the customers deserve. It was a Friday evening which is understandable that most restaurants are busy. Having said that, we had this waiter (Michael) who we think (giving him the benefit of the doubt) were given too many tables to attend to. Having said that, his attitude was condescending (in our opinion) and was hardly to be seen. We constantly had to stop our conversation to try to find him. We ordered another glass of red wine and was told it was out of stock and agreed to settle for something that he or the sommelier recommended. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for him to bring to us. We placed our dessert order with another waiter because he was not around."

  • "We found this restaurant through the booklet by Jonathan Gold "best 100 restaurants in SoCal", published in the L.A. Times. Drago Centro seemed to be the one that we wanted to try on a weekend stay in downtown L.A. and are we glad we picked it. The food was delicious; the wait staff was attentive without being intrusive; the view of downtown L.A. was wonderful."

  • "An outstanding restaurant in all respects. There was not one area that needed attention. This is truly an outstanding restaurant experience."

  • "We have been to Drago several times. The atmosphere is quite nice. On this occasion the restaurant was full, and a bit noisy, but the meal was excellent. It is on the expensive side, but good for a special occasion or business dinner or lunch. Service is exceptional."

  • "My friends and I went to celebrate our best friend's birthday. I looked into several restaurants in different areas of LA, asked around and in more than one occasion Drago came on top. Well, I must say it was the best choice, from the moment we enter the parking lot, yes, the parking lot the service was great, the elevator takes you straight to the dinning room, nice and open and the patio would be great for a large event. Attentitve service. Let's talk about the food, we all share Burrata with the sweetest heirloom tomatoes and the freshest burrata, ever! My favorites Basil spaghetti alla chitarra. Tagliolini with bay scallops, sea urchin cream, & squid ink and the Roasted corn and ricotta agnolotti. Great selection of wine and desserts."

  • "I usually have a great experience here, but the last time was not so great. The waiter was hard to find and the food was lackluster. I probably won't be going back for a little while."

  • "Excellent food with easy accessible valet parking. The noise level was a distraction. At a table for two we could not hold a normal conversation because we could barely hear each other."

  • "Solid Italian food in a lovely space. It's a little confusion how to get into the restaurant but once insides, it's lovely. My party of four arrived early when it was quiet. In a short time, it got crowded and quite loud. I had a hard time hearing my colleagues. Lunch entrees were good. Service was good. I appreciated the offering of the black napkins even before I thought about it. They also remembered that I preferred room temperature water throughout my meal. Initially she was very attentive but once it got busy I found myself calling for her. Very good but not outstanding."

  • "This is the best Italian restaurant downtown. The meat is amazing, the pasta is deliciously prepared. Service is thoughtful. The room is lovely, though large, and sound bounces off the brick walls. We live downtown, and this is our go-to place for a really good meal."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "The olive bread had a olive pit inside and rabbit ravioli had 2 small bones inside. This is not acceptable for a restaurant that I spent about $100 per head there."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We had a party of four, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. My main course was the duck breast, which was very tender. The atmosphere is open and modern looking, with some view of downtown LA buildings. Outdoor patio dining is available. The service was some of the best we've experienced, with the courses being served to all simultaneously. Also the plates weren't cleared until everyone was done. Extensive wine list with emphasis on Italian wines."
