I had ordered a duck breast entree here before and had loved it; absolutely the best duck I had ever eaten. This time around, the duck was a little under-whelming. Drago Centro was wonderful. Excellent food and drink in a beautiful setting. Much better than a more trendy restaurant a couple of blocks away that was so loud I thought my head would explode. There were four of us, everything we ordered was spectacular. I had an asparagus salad and salmon with an orzo pesto. My friends had a beet salad with red and yellow beets and some mozzarella cheese and balsamic dressing that was amazing, and the sucking pig that they loved. Another friend had chicken dish she enjoyed immensely. The wine was great. Excellent service, too. We split three desserts and the entire meal was not nearly as pricey as I had expected. Well-trained waiters provided the perfect balance of informative, and respectful. They were there just when we needed them. The food was all perfectly prepared with an artistic presentation. Our table ordered everything from fish to steak, all prepared in a sophisticated manner. When we asked for a table away from the patio, our hostess was not pleased. She made snooty comment and then gave us a beautifu booth. Their wine selection is very extensive, even the "by the glass" choices. When I was there the last time, I had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. Salad of apples, lardon, candied nuts and frisee was superb and outshined the beet salad in flavor. Our guest enjoyed the misto. Branzino, Salmon and Tuna were all cooked to perfection, and their accompaniaments were spot on. The only disappointment was the coffee. We would have enjoyed dessert, but we were on a theater schedule. All the food was excellent. The wine list is quite good with a large spread of wine prices. It is easy to find a good wine under $50. We had a Rosso di Monalcino for $48. They also have lots of good wines by the glass and small carafe. The carafes are 250 ML which would work well if you want to start with a white and finish with a red.
The decor is rather stark with lots of hard surfaces. We went early after an Opera Matinee so there weren't very many dinners yet and it was relatively quiet. However, it is likely that it could be quite noisy if they are busy.
