A word from DP An American Brasserie
dp, An American Brasserie, is a signature restaurant by Dominick Purnomo. It offers a menu of imaginative and inventive cuisine, over two dozen small plates, traditional favorites and a selection of Chef Yono’s signature menu items for lunch and dinner.

At just under 2000 sq ft with 18 foot ceilings and an abundance of natural lighting from six oversized windows, dp is a room that demands attention. Our dining room offers a mix of table & banquette seating in a decidedly more casual atmosphere than Yono’s.

It features a 25 foot custom mahogany and granite bar stocked with a full array of spirits, cordials, and of course myriad wines by the glass. We pride our beverage program on fresh, seasonally inspired cocktails, and a by the glass wine program, which changes several times per week, that rivals any in the region. Guests are also invited to peruse the 900 selection Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence” winning Yono’s wine list.

Diner Reviews
  • "expectations were not high but i was pleasantly surprised by our nice meal"

  • "Lovely meal and walking distance from the palace as well as Capitol rep."

  • "On a busy evening our server Liz was on top of it. She was superb! Thanks for a great dining experience."

  • "The wait staff were not familiar with how the food was prepared. I asked on 3 different dishes and the response was "I am not familiar with how it is prepared." Mostly green young staff on last Fri night and the vegetables were not cooked ..crunchy to say the least. Entree was average and there was nothing special about the place."

  • "$18 for 5 raviolis (and all vegetable to boot), no matter how good, is overpriced. Great food but would never get ravioli again!!"

  • "The menu and food were very good, as usual. The table provided us was not the best location and the noise level was a bit high. My dish, the shrimp special, only contained 2 pieces of shrimp which was disappointing. All other dishes ordered were fine."

  • "I was visiting Albany for business and found this restaurant on OpenTable. I went with colleagues and our children. It was wonderful. The noise level is quite high so soft talkers beware. But the starters were a fantastic way for all to share and have tastes of the great food. The crab ragoon special starter was a favorite. Who knew? DP did that Kale would make a fantastic Caesar Salad. We even got instructions from the waitress on how to properly make it at home (the secret: massage the Kale with olive oil and lemon before making the rest of the salad."

  • "Great, no, absolutely fabulous cocktails and drinks, stylish, huge awesome windows, excellent menu served in appropriate portions (not gigantic portions that kill your appetite). Food is delicious. We do plan to frequent it often."

  • "What a pleasant surprise to actually find a restaurant in a hotel that had very good food and was reasonable priced. Would definitely recommend this establishment even if you are not staying in the hotel (even though the hotel was great as well!"

  • "Interesting and eclectic menu. Well stocked bar and excellent cocktails. And the food was excellent."

  • "The new Lobster Ravioli recipe is incredible. More like a dumpling with chunks of lobster inside. wow! as always, DP's excels. Hats off to Dominick, Donna, Yono, and the cooking and wait staff."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the diverse menu, modern cocktails and extensive wines by the glass. The room is energetic & full of natural light. We look forward to going back."

  • "Took a simple burger to a higher level. The food was great and the waitress we had was terrific. Very attentive yet not bothersome, we went there before a show at The Times Union Center and had plenty of time to make the show."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "This restaurant was recommended to us because it was close to the Palace Theater where we were going for a show. We didn't know it would also be in the hotel where we stayed! The service was excellent with all servers working pleasantly together. The summer bean soup was outstanding - a simple vegetable broth with vegetables in it. We also had the poached pear and candied pecan salad, and the cheese plate. Accompanied by pretzel rolls, it was wonderful, light fare."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We had dinner before a show at the Palace Theater. Lauren, our server, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We gave Lauren the wine basics, and she asked us each 2 more questions, and then brought the perfect wines. The dinners were spot on - a basket of warm pretzel rolls with a great mustard, appetizers of a single diver's scallop and the fried calamari, and entrees of a crisp eggplant sandwich and the leg of lamb. We had room for dessert, and they were both decadent. Not an inexpensive meal, overall, but great food, presentation, and tremendous service. We will be back."

  • "Another great dining experience at DP. Great food, excellent service, interesting wine lust and a lit of fun before the theater. Brought friends who really enjoyed the place and being introduced to the Indonesian noodles. They'll be back and so will we."

  • "When you enter they make you feel special. The menu is creative and varied to fit fussy eaters or people with some sense of adventure. Service is professional but not intrusive. A good pairing before or after Cap Rep."

  • "Another great dinner experience from Dp's.Our kids absolute favorite place to eat."

  • "Very good food! Have been several times and always had a good meal. The restaurant can be loud however."

  • "DP's was a last minute decision for my graduation lunch after getting recommendations from co-workers. Many other places in Albany seemed too expensive or overrated for lunch. DP's was EXCELLENT. My parents and other relatives present couldn't stop saying what an excellent choice it was for lunch. My uncle commented that his bloody Mary was the best he's ever had. The waiter was excellent, the food was excellent and it was definitely a great way to end such an important day."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "DP's is the casual side of Yono's restaurant. The two make a great duo, DP's for lunch and more laid back dinner fare. Yono's for best in the Capital Region fine dining. The proprietors, Yono and Dominick Purnomo are very friendly and super-knowledgable about great food and wine. Food is a unique comination of Indonesian and American/Continental fare. I simply love the place."

  • "Lovely, airy room with a menu full of lots of interesting choices. Calamari was excellent - crunchy, not greasy, with tasty sauce right in each bite. Special burger was over the top; salmon dinner was a favorite. "

  • "DP's series up fine drinks and food. On this visit a local rum was suggested, and met with my approval. I again had the mussels with curry coconut and they were tasty. Others had burgers and found them very good, French fries excellent...maybe too few! The berry sorbet is bursting with flavor. The wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We were there on a Thursday evening, if you want a moderate noise level go after the post work and pre theatre crowd. The noise level dropped a little after 7 PM."

  • "Wife and I brought our daughter and fiancé for her bday. No one finished the meal and my meal first came out as a fatty Fillet M. They apologized and I eventually ate when everyone else was "done". No management came to appologize or even entertain a comp. Off our list!"

  • "My wife and I took our friends to celebrate their engagement and it was wonderful! This was my 2nd time at DP and both have been very enjoyable. The wine/drinks list is excellent and everyone had a great time. "

  • "Our first dining experience at DP An American Brasserie left us wanting to return, and soon! My husband and I were first wowed by the beauty and ambiance: stunning bar, plentiful light, and beautiful wooden accents throughout the restaurant. We'd had a reservation, and we were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us promptly. It was not long before our cordial server took our drink orders. We were not only impressed by the wine list and full bar, but especially by the number and quality of the craft beers on draft by breweries such as Ommegang and Brooklyn Breweries. The food was utterly incredible - from my husband's amazing JP burger to my melt-in-your-mouth Asian salmon. We'll return again, and soon! Bravo!"

  • "Tables were too close together. Hard to walk in between tables and could hear everyone's conversation and everyone could hear mine. Some food was very good while some food was not worth ordering. Fries were lame. The bread they give you is pretzel bread which is good and tasty. The croquettes appetizer was not good. Short ribs were good but lamb salad was tough."

  • "Had Dinner here before attending a concert at the Palace since it was located nearby. The wait staff asked if we were attending the show and ensured that we were accommodated. The food was very fresh and the Indonesian noodles were fantastic. I would come back. "

  • "This is our go to place whether its date night, out with friends or when I take clients out for lunch. The varied menu has something for just about everyone. The cocktails are better than any in the area and the wines by the glass are extensive. Service is always proficient and friendly."

  • "DPs is conveniently located near Cap Rep theatre and a large parking lot, a great combo from my point of view. This restaurant is run by true professionals! The menu is creative, albeit a little pricey. The wine list is extensive and chosen with care by DP himself. The waitstaff are friendly, efficient, and a real asset to make the dining experience a satisfying one. Just before and right after a show at Cap Reg the place is really busy so make your reservation in advance."

  • "DP's is a favorite place for our family to dine. The food is always cooked to perfection and the wait staff personal are very attentive but no too invading. We highly recommend DP's."

  • "Very consistent in high quality food and service. The service is efficient without being too intrusive. Our meal was very nicely paced. We were able to enjoy our meal and not rushed to make the evening performance at CapRep. The food was well prepared, used very fresh ingredients and excellent presentation. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience."
