  • Public Transit: We are located very close to the LRT line on 7th ave, with a station at 5th St. Several buses stop on 5th St and 8th, including the #3 bus, which runs frequently, and the 300 bus that runs from the airport.

  • Parking Details: Anyone can park on the street in front of or around the restaurant, as available. There is also a pay-parking lot on 5th St and 8th Ave SW, about a minute"s walk from the restaurant.

  • "The menu is not updated on web. Which was disconcerting. We were initially guided to a table in the midst of other tables even tho a quieter table was available. And we had made reservations. The waitress was too chatty - it became annoying. Food was good"

  • "We called in to Downtown Food on a whim for a late night supper. The food was great as always and because it was around 9pm we had the front of the restaurant to ourselves for a romantic dinner. The simple wine list provides an easy selection of good wines and we shared the Boar Chop which was absolutely delicious. The house provided us with the special appetizer free of charge which was an added bonus. Always a good spot to visit."

  • "Good: Wagyu Beef Tartare; Wild Boar Chop - big portion, not game-y tasting; Chocolate Tart with smoke infused whip cream - best of the night. OK: Miso cured sablefish - a good dish but nothing that distinguishes it from the same dish in other places. Bad: Tempura-battered sushi roll - taste & texture of the rice didn't seem right (altered by the deep frying?), fresh real wasabi was a dry and solid lump (sitting out too long?) Annoying: The wine had a dry cork; 2 or 3 attempts got it open; some cork in the wine so one server offered to filter it but when we get to the dregs another wanted to just dispose of what was ½-¾ of a glass. Servers should talk to each other especially when there are only 4 tables. Espresso arrived without crema."

  • "Read the reviews so the wife and I decided we needed to give the restaurant a try. We arrived Friday around 6:15 to find the restaurant to only have a few patrons, so this was a bit disconcerting. This concern was quickly alleviated when the food arrived. I started with the tuna tataki followed by the wagyu beef ravioli and my wife ordered the tomato salad starter followed by the wild boar chop. All the food we ordered was amazing! The freshness and the flavours were all incredible and the servings were of the right portions. Our waiter explained what was in our food when it arrived and was at our table when required and was never over bearing. We will definitely be back with others in tow."

  • "I had lunch here with friends and having been to downtownfood a few times, I thought it was a good choice. The food and ambiance were great, but the service leaves something to be desired for being intentionally ambiguous or deceiving in respect of drinks. When someone asks for water, bringing a bottle of water and charging $6.50 for it is not an acceptable practice."

  • "Missing New York for it's cuisine while in Calgary for 5 weeks, a friend told me to check out DTF. Forget not being disappointed, it was one of the best meals I've ever had, and given the quality and detail of the food, very very reasonable. It was so good, I went back 3 times, each time with different people, all of whom had the exact same response. We had the tasting menu on the last evening where you were sad that each course had to end. I can't say enough good things here to convey the complexity of the flavors and the inspired tastes."

  • "We dined here with friends. We were able to visit over wine befote enjoyinga delicious dinner. The wine list is fairly small, but has some very good ones t moderate prices. Two of us had the wild boar chop, one had duck breast and one ravioli. Everyone loved their food. We all shared the key lime dessert & declared iy a winner. My only criticism was that I thought there was a lack of salad choices. Would return here."

The restaurant was relatively small and decorated in a modern style - we liked the photographs of scenes from downtown Calgary on the walls. It was a good place for an anniversary dinner - quiet enough to have a conversation, nice ambience and food for the occasion without being too stuffy. Good service. We will return - and recommend this restaurant to others. Nicely done all round."

  • "Three of us went for lunch, and had heard mixed reviews, but wanted to try it for ourselves. We ordered the pork gyoza to start and they came out burnt on one side. No mention of it from the server when some of the bottoms were left on our plates either. We ordered our mains - two burgers and a banh mi sandwich, and the server explained that the burger was freshly ground steak and it's typically cooked to mid rare, and asked the first girl how she took her steak (she said mid-rare). The second girl didn't get asked (and she wanted it medium), and the server never told us what came on the side (if anything). The fries were overcooked (they were seriously hard), we had to dig through them to find the bigger ones, etc. All in all terrible"

Portions are not large which is fine for lunch. The others at our lunch had no complaints and also commented on the above average lunch experience."

  • "I took my wife for dinner and a show her 30th birthday. Our server, Megan, was very aware of our time constraints and helped us with ordering, drinks and dessert. The food was incredible!! I recommend the duck breast and the dtf ceviche. Both were well constructed, perfectly plated and were full of flavour. My wife enjoyed the atmosphere, food and conversation with our server who was incredibly personable and attentive. All in all a wonderful experience!"

The house made everything is exceptional, this is a labour of love for which I can not say enough about. Attentive and charming without being intrusive. This was a great restaurant for business meetings as the sound was not overbearing. I will definitely return to this neighborhood gem. "

  • "A must do dining experience in Calgary. The flavours of Asian meets West is truly unique and creative. Every fine detail of the dishes was well thought out. A group of 3 shared the fresh rolls, maki roll, and pear bacon salad. We each then had mains of wild boar, halibut, and scallops with pork belly. Portions were perfect to leave us with room to share the banana chocolate ganache dessert. Loved it all!"

The first four; ceviche, a fresh cool green pea soup, Sichewan eggplant, wagu tataki, were all small courses; each with a beautiful presentation and distinct flavours that left you craving more. Often I have a problem when a series of items are placed on a plate but not integrated together, I need not worry at Downtown food. The large fifth course was a thai green curry with a generous portion of halibut placed on top. It was a satisfying course. The vegetables throughout the meal were cooked to perfection, the green pea fresh and firm, the eggplant creamy with a baked skin, the okra and water chestnut just right. Dessert was tequillime pie, and macaroon GO"

  • "I had dinner with a couple of friends awhile ago just to check the restaurant out. We decided to go with the tasting menu with several bottles of wine. The exceptional part of the menu was a beautiful LITTLE eggplant dish however beyond that everything else hit the 'good' spot but nothing more: very small portions that all seemed just a bit pretentious. The service was very good and the place itself was nice enough. However, for three people and a bill of ~$550.00 with only two bottles of wine I expect 'exceptional' across the board; I can't see going back any time soon."
