  • "Our first time at Dovetail. Great service. I had the Cajun shrimp dish with the Georgia red salad and my wife had the chicken and grits dish with the asparagus soup. Both dishes were very good. We had the salted caramel pie for dessert and it was also delicious. I would definitely recommend Dovetail. Definitely one of the best Macon has to offer."

  • "The good news is that the food was very good to excellent. The table distribution in the very tight space, however, makes it very difficult for staff to get around. A member of our party kept getting bumped or brushed until we took the initiative to move the table. The server was clearly upset when we mentioned the discomfort level and maintained an unpleasant attitude for the first 30 minutes or so. There were never any apologies offered either from the different individuals bumping into us or the irritated server. There are a couple of good spots that would make for a much better dining experience. Request a table next to the window and you should be OK."

  • "Delicious food! Love the put-ups, and the ham fritters. Our entrees were also really good - pork chop and shrimp. Our sweet, attentive, and friendly waiter, Jake, recommended the cracked pie for dessert. Oh my goodness! It was so good! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will be back!"

  • "My wife and I arrived for dinner and were seated according to a request that I had made. We were graciously treated to complimentary champagne and a complimentary hors d'oeuvre. Our oysters were magnificent and our main entrees were delicious. My wife got the shrimp and I got the pork chop. There were no complaints and our waiter was superb. We look forward to dining here again, soon."

  • "What a great find. My husband and I love supporting local business and we love to eat. Found the Dovetail while having drinks and a burger in the Rookery. I was delighted to see there was another restaurant upstairs. Upon entrance the Dovetail takes you back to someone's Southern kitchen with a nice ambience. The food was delicious....mind you we ordered the special plus three other entrees!! We are true foodies and will definitely return to the Dovetail again. Thanks for the hospitality and great food."

  • "We had gone there for the first time the previous week for dinner and everything was wonderful. Food, Wine and Service. However, we were told how great their brunch was and were given some recommendations. Made reservations on OpenTable (1st time user) and requested a table by the window. Our visit started with not getting by the window. Then our waiter came back to tell us had run out of what I had ordered. I ordered the veggie frittatta, that had been recommended, Very disappointed. Very small amount of veggies, and sauce, mostly just egg. The grits were very good. Music has been very loud both times"

  • "I very much enjoyed a belated Valentine's Day dinner with my girlfriend last week. The atmosphere was wonderful (a little loud for my tastes, but I'm more noise-sensitive than most - that being said, neither the music nor the crowd interfered with conversation, so it wasn't insanely loud, just a hair louder than I'd expected), and the service exemplary. The food, however, was the real star of the evening. From the app through the entrees and into desert, we were continually surprised - pleasantly - by the quality of the food and the preparation. Couldn't have been happier with our meal."

  • "My boyfriend treated me to Dovetail for our Valentine's Day dinner. I was immediately impressed with the unique rustic, yet classy appearance. The food was sensational. I had the portabella soup and the veal tenderloin, my boyfriend had the ham fritters and veal tenderloin. Absolutely wonderful. I was delighted to find that our server was energetic and excited to have us- she was awesome and super friendly. I was given a rose at the conclusion of the dinner- that was unbelievably awesome. My only complaint was that the place was outrageously loud. The music was already on the loud side- which caused people to scream over the music. I couldn't say a word to my partner because it was so loud, so we resulted to not saying much to each other."

  • "Dovetail is our favorite restaurant in Macon, so now that we live in Akron, Ohio, we find ourselves there whenever we come back for a visit. This latest visit was for Valentine's Day and it was perfect. The menu was slimmed down but special. I had a filet, cooked medium rare, with a fried lobster tail and broccolini. My wife had the shrimp and grits, which had a smoky flavor and made me a little jealous. Though, I mean: Steak and lobster."

  • "This place has some star dishes especially the desserts! The pastry chef Anne Dunne makes an amazing butterscotch pot de creme. The brunch was good...we loved the peach preserves and biscuits as well as the fried chicken Benedict with bacon jam! Excited to go back and try some of dinner entrees. Our waiter Ken was amazing the perfect amount of attentive, as well as, being very knowledgeable about the menu items and offered great suggestions."

Next time will go downstairs for twice the Food at half the price with the noise level I expect If you go to Dove tail's just don't go hungry. On a positive note wait staff was great."

The menu was small but what it lacked for in quantity it made up for by far with the quality and taste of the food. If you truly like a fine dining restaurant in a nice quaint atmosphere this is the place. The food was excellent! The service was outstanding! The atmosphere was great for a nice dinner date. A very good selection of alcoholic beverages. And to top it all off the price for the food and the whole experience was great. Looking forward to going back and trying their spring menu!"

  • "Had the rabbit lasagna and the collard green noodles (don't be fooled-- just thinly shaven collards) and both were OUTSTANDING. Our server was excellent and very helpful. I think their espresso machine was broken, however; my friend's cafe latte couldn't get above tepid, but the waiter was accommodating! I've had almost everything on the menu at this point, and it's culinary perfection each time I go!"
