Diner Reviews
  • "My husband liked his briskit entree but my pescado tacos arrived lukewarm. It took so long to get the food I are it anyway. Guacamole and sangria were good and we would go back although with low expectations for the actual meals."

  • "I thought this location might be less of a twenty-something party scene than the downtown site, but on a summer Saturday evening, it was all large groups of young adults in celebratory mood. I will say that the staff was polite and professional, we were seated immediately once our party had all arrived and our server was friendly and efficient. The downstairs dining room is less raucous than the upstairs bar with its thundering music. But, bottom line, the margaritas were dilute, the guacamole tasteless, and the tacos flaccid and bland. All in all, a TGI Friday's caliber meal. With all the really good Mexican food in this city, I would recommend this location for a quick after-work drink, at most, then move on somewhere else for dinner."

  • "I loved this resturant but when I was there on Saturday I found out they changed the menus . I was not happy. I rallied and knew from past trips that the food was amazing. So I picked a special. It was very spicy and I winded up sending it back and chose my favorite veggie tacos. Well that changed too, in the past the veggie tacos were amazing. With marinated eggplant, mushrooms and I think onions and zucchini . Now they had avocado and some sort of chopped veggies on top. I was disappointed. My husband and son got the brisket and liked it but felt was giving them indigestion as they were eating it. I know sometimes resturants eliminate dishes to save money but it seems the quality changed as well Disappointing :(."

  • "The first type of tequila I ordered they ran out of. I ordered another type and they ran out of it as well. It took 15 minutes to find out whiley wife was enjoying her drink. I found it odd since both types of tequilas are standard on the drink list. Food was good."

  • "I kept hearing about Dos Caminos and it lived up to my expectations. I didn't know the restaurant was as big as it was. Loved the decor!! Food was great tasting. I want to try it out at night and have a cocktail."

  • "My husband chose Dos Caminos Third Ave (one of our favorite go-to's) for a recent meal w/ a group of out of town guests (that included 3 children). I was surprised that on a Tues. night at 7pm the bar scene was spilling out in to the main restaurant & that there was a DJ stationed downstairs (we were seated at the table closest to him). While this made it difficult to carry on a conversation at a normal speaking level the food, & especially the service, made up for the loud room. Great guac as always, solid Mahi tacos, and apps. I appreciated the fact that a kids' menu was available and that it included accessible Mexican choices (rather than just chicken fingers). Our server was excellent with our guests who were not used to dining in NYC."

  • "I love Dos Caminos, however, after dinner tonight I'm not sure I will return to this location. I ordered the Grilled Mahi tacos and when they arrived they were ice cold. When our server returned to check on us, I asked if they could be re-made. Our server obliged and apologized. However, the 2nd plate of tacos were just as cold, if not colder then the first ones. The fish tacos are my go-to order at Dos Caminos (since the Shrimp tacos are no longer on the menu), but tonight they were not even edible. I was also disappointed that our server did not ask how the "fresh", remade tacos were. I've never complained before however, tonight was truly not acceptable. On a positive note, the guacamole and drinks were perfect."

  • "The service was terrible. We never received our guacamole appetizer, no one came to clean away our table at any point and it took forever to get our drinks. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Wonderful fresh guacamole with sauces!! Tacos only so-so."

  • "The food here was faultless. The Guacamole was great and so were the enchiladas and tacos. We also enjoyed the frozen margaritas. Our waiter was great - obliging and attentive and great about bringing more chips for guacamole and dip. The hostesses on the other hand, we're useless. It took 2 desks and 3 tried to get seated and we had a reservation that seemed to mysteriously go missing between desks."

  • "I brought a friend from the UK here who doesn't like Mexican food. He was surprised that he loved the food. It wasn't at all what je expected. I love the frozen pomegranate margaritas."

  • "The best Mexican food I've had! The only com is that the staffing was short so it took a while to get our check and leave."

  • "Love this place. My fiance and I can go for a nice lively dinner for two, or bring a group of friends for a hopped up fun evening out. We have a great experience every time we go here, this most recent visit was no exception."

  • "We told the waiter we had to be in and out in an hour. There were only a few other tables and he assured us it would be no problem. Didn't come back for 20 min to take our order. Guac never came out, food came out 30 min later, cold and the hamburger my friend ordered was so rare it wasn't even seared. Will never return. Don't waste your money."

  • "Good food but not spectacular. Wasn't wowed but it was convenient for after works drinks and dinner. If you are looking for GREAT Mexican, head downtown to La Esquina."

  • "We picked this restaurant for our lunch date (four friends) and it was great. The food, especially the guacamole and the desert (the ice cream sundae) were amazing and definitely worth the cost, which might I add was exceptionally inexpensive compared to many places in this neighborhood. I will most definitely come back."

  • "The margs and guac were amazing but our tacos and enchiladas were luke warm at best. Entrees don't seem to be worth the price, but a really great place for drinks and appetizers."

  • "The food was delicious, the organic margarita was awesome and the waiter was excellent! Worth it!"

  • "Dos Caminos is a nice place for a business lunch. At first when when walked in, I thought it was going to be too loud, but then we were lead to a lower level with nice ambiance. The food is very good and our server was helpful. My dining companion has food allergies and her plate was clearly labeled. I'd go back."

  • "Dos Caminos was one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. We shared warm tortilla chips with 3 types of salsas. I had the vegetable taco and my friend had the Carnitas or pork taco. Each meal came with rice and refried beans. The Margaritas were also sensational. We were too full for dessert. The waiter was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food or want to try something unique."

  • "Super-attentive staff aims to please. Our host offered us outdoors (too hot), upstairs (too loud), and downstairs, away from the bar (perfect!). Once seated, our waiter was attentive but not pushy, offering to bring drinks and guacamole while we decided on our order. We ordered the tacos (which, after the delicious guacamole, available in mild, spicy, and hot, was more than enough food), which were perfectly garnished for the right blend of savory and spicy. Dos Caminos Third Avenue made the perfect place to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in several years, and I felt like the staff did everything they could to make the evening a lovely experience."

  • "Ordered the carne as ads, off the menu for lunch, at the waitress' suggestion. Absolutely delightful, well marinated, simply delicious. Service is great, friendly without being annoying. Definitely recommend it."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend and we love it. Me especially because I loveeeeee Mexican food. Our server was amazing and treated is very well. I had snapper it was delicious and my boyfriend had a rib eye entree. The ribeye entree came with cheesy rice , the most delicious rice I've ever tasted. Will definitely go again."

  • "People have told me this is very similar to Rosa Mexicana (which is a restaurant I don't care for), but they were wrong. Dos Caminos is fresh, fun, and delicious! The guac is perfect, the scene is young, and the menu is creative, but delicious! I had the shrimp quesadilla, which was HUGE, and thought it was outstanding. We went on a Friday evening and a dj was there playing some great 90s hiphop. Will definitely go back. I've heard their brunch is great!"

  • "I would like it more if the food were better. I ordered the veggie tacos. They were overstuffed with tomato and cucumber and a piece of asparagus. I added rice and beans to it to make it more interesting; Still I only had one. My friend had the chicken taco and couldnt enjoy it because it was too spicy. We got full off of the delicious guac. Yum. The ambience is my speed on Third Ave. It was just decent."

  • "I used to work for this concept and I know what is expected from the servers. My friend and I were highly disappointed with our server. He was not at all friendly and barely came back to check on us. He did not ask us if we wanted guacamole or chips and salsa. Our food was pretty good so that was not a disappointment."
