Diner Reviews
  • "Extremely noisy. Confusion with servers asking same questions. "

  • "Worst service we have ever had in New York. It wasn't a busy night and there were several empty tables, so no real excuse. After being seated, took way too long for server to show up. We ordered chips, with guac as a starter and the chips came first and guac arrived 10 minutes later??? After we received our meals we NEVER saw our server again. We sat waiting with dirty plates on the table for 15-20 minutes. We finally found what appeared to be the manager. He has zero personality, didn't really care and eventually sent our server over to us. We finally received our bill. Never an apology for the poor service. Probably the first time ever that we didn't leave a gratuity."

  • "We had a great experience at Dos Caminos. The food was great. The ambience was fun. Service was excellent. It was an all around great meal. Best fried ice cream ever!!"

  • "Atmosphere: Pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was and I especially liked the decor. On a weeknight, you can find this restaurant filled with people who just got off work. It gets more crowded around 9pm. Server: Very attentive and always came by to make sure we got what we needed. Also got a visit from the manager. Food: We DEVOURED the guacamole. It is so good. They also make it in different flavors if you are feeling adventurous. Get the Asada Taco if you like steak. I really enjoyed the Surf And Turf Taco and would definitely recommend that one. For those Mac n cheese lovers, you have to try the Mac N Chorizo!!! They don't offer happy hour at this location. I would say drinks are pretty pricey (or average for New York)."

  • "Great place for a large group of 10 work dinner. Always good food, good drinks and fun atmosphere and really good service. Definitely make a reservation for a larger group."

  • "The food and service were excellent as always. We are going back in two weeks again for lunch."

  • "I am always comfortable going to Dos Caminos. As soon as I tell them I am gluten and dairy free the waiter/waitress always helps me identify what I can eat on the menu. They are well prepared for people coming in with food allergies. I appreciate that extra service."

  • "Guac is the best! Love the Margherita's ---- no fancy, schmancy kind, just a good 'ole frozen Margherita with salt, the best!"

  • "Enjoyable evening with really good service. I enjoyed the ambience noisy but nice. Full selection of tex mex meals....no chilli isn't it tex next?.... I personally enjoyed the mar y tierra tacos."

  • "Perfect spot for larger groups, we sat downstairs at one of the big round booths. Nice mood lighting, upbeat music even on a Sunday night. Great food! Chips and salsa for the table is great! Love the fresh salsa verde! Waiter was friendly and accommodating--he put in a takeout order right away for my sister who had to leave on short notice once we sat down."

  • "The food was good, the drink list was good. A little pricey, but not extraordinary. Only complaint is that my friend and I were seated next to a 6 year old's birthday party. The parents and wait staff could not control the children."

  • "Dos Caminos is a great scene - a DJ is mixing tunes, the margaritas are great, the made-to-order guacamole is delicious, so what if the entrees weren't memorable? We took our kids, but it isn't really kid-friendly. They thought the kids' tacos weren't good and it's definitely an adult atmosphere. We would go back if only for the caramel tres leches cake for dessert!"

  • "I had the guacamole, veggie tacos and flan. It was all so delicious. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "I went to Dos Caminos twice in one week, once with girlfriends it had been recommended to us based on the Margaritas! I'm so glad to have been the atmosphere is great, it's quite loud but in a fun way I got a really good vibe from all of the staff and diners. The second time I went back with my parents as they were visiting for the weekend and even they said that the music and layout really made it. The food was impeccable on both occasions and although you kind of have to have a Margarita the Mojito is really great too if you're into them! I'd reccommend the Shrimp Quesadillas and the Brisket Enchiladas, both were so filling and really very delicious. The guacamole is made fresh at your table, it is the best I've had!"

  • "I was disappointed. Expected much more in service and food. Reservation was 8pm on a Saturday. Maybe Meatpacking location is better but I'm sure the food is the same and that was just okay. Not bad, just okay."

  • "Waiting for 25 minutes for a margarita is a crime! Especially after the apps already arrived. Food was very good and when I finally got my drink, it was too. Maybe our waitress was having a bad day, but she certainly didn't respond even after we noted that things were taking a long time!"

  • "I've been to Dos Caminos my last 2 visits to New York City. The margaritas and guacamole are TO DIE! I would consider the menu selection "upscale" Mexican. The food is really amazing and the service is always good. You HAVE to try the cornbread side dish.....SO FREAKING GOOD for those who love cornbread. If you're a Mexican food lover and/or foodie, this place is a MUST!"

  • "I'd been to other locations and was not impressed, but the food and service at this location was great. I will definitely return"

  • "After we were seated, it took 20 minutes to get a glass of water and another 20 for someone to eventually tell us that there had been a "major emergency in the kitchen" and we should leave."

  • "My friends and I had a very nice time. The music was was great. We all enjoyed our dinner and our drinks. Our waiter was very attentative and patient and cheery, it was so pleasant."

  • "I've been to Dos Caminos many times due to its convenient location. Every time I go, the sercvice is abysmal but this time really took the cake. After being seated for our reservation, it took about 30 minutes for a sever to even acknowledge us and anouther 30 minutes to put in a drink order. They brought our guacamole with cilantro when we had specifically ordered it without, so we waited for them to correct that and the waiter FORGOT that we had ordered a main course. So, what we wanted to be an easy dinner out turned into us waiting even longer just to get our food. Won't be going back."

  • "Been here numerous times as my office is blocks away. Also visited location in Atlantic City. Consistant and the food is great. Love the Durango Margarita! Guacamole is a must."

  • "I frequent Dos Caminos usually on Friday's for Lunch or Dinner. This visit was on a Wednesday night and found that the food was not its usual tastiness, the plantains were not ripe and were missing the drizzle of signature white sauce. The empanadas were a bit overcooked and the Prickly Pear Margarita (which is my favorite) tasted extremely bitter as if it was made incorrectly or used different products. I'll give it a 3 star rating for its Wednesday nights but it seems the kitchen and the bartender are better on Fridays."

  • "outstanding food, great service, fun atmosphere, best guacamole and dulce de leche cake. disappointed that flan was removed from the menu--how can you not have flan at a Mexican restaurant?"

  • "The waitress was great - loved her, the kitchen messed up two orders and then they didn't put cheese on our quesadilla. they left one person without food when they forgot a plate which ended up being wrong. They were also extremely slow at 1:30pm. Our party of 5 went through 3-4 bowls of nachos. don't think ill come back with a large party."

  • "Generally this a great restaurant for food. Ate there Friday night. Had made a reservation through opentable. Got there 5mins early and we were seated right away!.. Which was great! We started with a guacamole. They ask for your spice level and we requested very spicy. It came rather bland. The fish tacos were okay. The goat dish was rather good. Not sure what happened, but it looks like the food quality has dropped some.. The service was efficient, even the water glasses were refilled in a timely manner."

  • "The waitstaff was friendly and responsive and the food was very good. We enjoyed trying a couple of dishes we don't usually find at other restaurants - goat and plantain in particular - both were very well prepared and tasty. Thank you!"

  • "Easy check in despite literally lines of people streaming in. Simple menu, Very tasty dishes and out quickly however not enough help. We had to flag down whomever we could to get each part of our lunch ordered. Never saw the same person twice! This made it feel a little like a cafeteria instead of a restaurant."
