Diner Reviews
  • "Very very good. The best guacamole in N Y. A good Mexican place in the city"

  • "We told the waiter we had to be in and out in an hour. There were only a few other tables and he assured us it would be no problem. Didn't come back for 20 min to take our order. Guac never came out, food came out 30 min later, cold and the hamburger my friend ordered was so rare it wasn't even seared. Will never return. Don't waste your money."

  • "Affordable and kid friendly for brunch. This is a regular Sunday place for myself, wife and kids. We are big fan"

  • "Love this place. My fiance and I can go for a nice lively dinner for two, or bring a group of friends for a hopped up fun evening out. We have a great experience every time we go here, this most recent visit was no exception."

  • "The best Mexican food I've had! The only com is that the staffing was short so it took a while to get our check and leave."

  • "Always a fun time and I never miss the delicious fresh guacamole. It won't be cheap or typical Mexican but you can count on good quality and fun drinks."

  • "Used to love this place but was not happy with this visit. I ordered my burger medium-well and ended up with an extremely rare cooked burger (completely 100% pink). The staff were nice and immediately took it back and apologized, but I was stuck without food while the rest of my party finished their meals. At the end, I figured they would offer some sort of compensation or desert (or something?!) but unfortunately we did not receive anything which was a little frustrating. Once we received our check, we opened it to realize it wasn't even ours. I notified the waiter who then again apologized and brought us the correct one 10 minutes later."

  • "Food & drinks are good, service is slow & room is very hot."

  • "We picked this restaurant for our lunch date (four friends) and it was great. The food, especially the guacamole and the desert (the ice cream sundae) were amazing and definitely worth the cost, which might I add was exceptionally inexpensive compared to many places in this neighborhood. I will most definitely come back."

  • "Good food but not spectacular. Wasn't wowed but it was convenient for after works drinks and dinner. If you are looking for GREAT Mexican, head downtown to La Esquina."

  • "Dos Caminos was one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. We shared warm tortilla chips with 3 types of salsas. I had the vegetable taco and my friend had the Carnitas or pork taco. Each meal came with rice and refried beans. The Margaritas were also sensational. We were too full for dessert. The waiter was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food or want to try something unique."

  • "Dos Caminos is a nice place for a business lunch. At first when when walked in, I thought it was going to be too loud, but then we were lead to a lower level with nice ambiance. The food is very good and our server was helpful. My dining companion has food allergies and her plate was clearly labeled. I'd go back."

  • "The margs and guac were amazing but our tacos and enchiladas were luke warm at best. Entrees don't seem to be worth the price, but a really great place for drinks and appetizers."

  • "The food was delicious, the organic margarita was awesome and the waiter was excellent! Worth it!"

  • "Super-attentive staff aims to please. Our host offered us outdoors (too hot), upstairs (too loud), and downstairs, away from the bar (perfect!). Once seated, our waiter was attentive but not pushy, offering to bring drinks and guacamole while we decided on our order. We ordered the tacos (which, after the delicious guacamole, available in mild, spicy, and hot, was more than enough food), which were perfectly garnished for the right blend of savory and spicy. Dos Caminos Third Avenue made the perfect place to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in several years, and I felt like the staff did everything they could to make the evening a lovely experience."

  • "I used to work for this concept and I know what is expected from the servers. My friend and I were highly disappointed with our server. He was not at all friendly and barely came back to check on us. He did not ask us if we wanted guacamole or chips and salsa. Our food was pretty good so that was not a disappointment."

  • "Ordered the carne as ads, off the menu for lunch, at the waitress' suggestion. Absolutely delightful, well marinated, simply delicious. Service is great, friendly without being annoying. Definitely recommend it."

  • "portions were far to small for the prices. dinner was more like an appetizer. wasn't impressed after i had such a great experience a few years back."

  • "This is the third Dos Caminos I have been to, and this location has the best décor. The food and service are great at all the locations I have been to."

  • "I would like it more if the food were better. I ordered the veggie tacos. They were overstuffed with tomato and cucumber and a piece of asparagus. I added rice and beans to it to make it more interesting; Still I only had one. My friend had the chicken taco and couldnt enjoy it because it was too spicy. We got full off of the delicious guac. Yum. The ambience is my speed on Third Ave. It was just decent."

  • "I've been here several times and it never disappoints. The menu has changed some, but the quality and uniqueness is still there."

  • "People have told me this is very similar to Rosa Mexicana (which is a restaurant I don't care for), but they were wrong. Dos Caminos is fresh, fun, and delicious! The guac is perfect, the scene is young, and the menu is creative, but delicious! I had the shrimp quesadilla, which was HUGE, and thought it was outstanding. We went on a Friday evening and a dj was there playing some great 90s hiphop. Will definitely go back. I've heard their brunch is great!"

  • "I went here with my boyfriend and we love it. Me especially because I loveeeeee Mexican food. Our server was amazing and treated is very well. I had snapper it was delicious and my boyfriend had a rib eye entree. The ribeye entree came with cheesy rice , the most delicious rice I've ever tasted. Will definitely go again."

  • "I have been here numerous times and the food is always good. We started out with the guacamole and chips as every good party should. The chips were crunchy, but not greasy, and the guac could not be any fresher. I had tacos for dinner which were good, but I think they should give 5 rather than 3...nonetheless the meal filled me. I just like eating. For dessert, we had the 3 scoops of icecream; one being avacado, the other being cinnamon, and the last being the watermelon sorbet. The sorbet tasted like someone just froze fresh watermelon juice and was noticably refreshing. The cinnamon was nothing special, but I would order it again. Now, for the highlight... the avacado icecream which was UBER creamy. Try it... you will love it."

  • "As well as the okay seating, the server was Fine. Not good not great. The hostesses were okay at best. We had a reservation and they made us walk downstairs to claim the reservation (the main dining room so that wasn't weird) but when we got downstairs the girls looked at us like we were cross eyed and didn't have a reservation... Anyway we ended up having a fine time, the weighter was good not great and I would go back!"

  • "Poor service, glasses was dirty- have to request new glasses twice and it took over 15 min to get them. After having half of our appertizer we left, The Guacamole - when it finally arrived- tasted awful. Dos Caminos is not the same restaurant as it was 12 months ago. Don t go there"

  • "I met a group of former colleagues for dinner the other night; there were four of us at an outdoor table. The seating was great, with welcome space heaters on an unusually cool May evening. The service left much to be desired. When we tried to order a margarita, we were subjected to a diatribe about the 300 variations that were stored in the server's head. We had to partake in a ridiculous back and forth when all we wanted was a plain rocks margarita (needless to say, the recommended suggestion was significantly more expensive). We had to trace our server down several times to get a second round of drinks and to order food. Getting water glasses filled was next to impossible. After all that, the food was mediocre and expensive."

  • "Fun drinks, fun food and fun staff make for a...you guessed it...a fun time!"

  • "I met a friend for dinner at Dos Caminos at 3rd Ave for dinner and drinks. We enjoyed a delicious meal complete with very tasty sangria. The prices can be a little on the expensive side, but overall, it was a great place to dine and catch up with an old friend. I recommend this restaurant to others looking for a slightly upscale Mexican dinner in NYC. "
