Diner Reviews
  • "We were there on a Thursday and the service as sketchy but we saw the waiters running so can't complain"

  • "I live in the neighborhood and this place is decent for outdoor dining but is also infamous for paparazzi squatting thus celebrity sightings. If that turns you on, do visit However, I reluctantly report this is no culinary gem. Tequila is their crown jewel offering a menu that would impress any tequila aficionado. If this is your potable of choice, DC should be your destination. Which also means that Margaritas are done well here. Warm chips and the three dip (hot sauce/salsa) condiment offering pairs well with your libation of choice, especially while enjoying the open air Soho atmosphere w/friends. But I would end things there and go elsewhere for a palate pleasing Mexican meal. Your pocket and your palate will thank me later."

  • "I really appreciated this restaurant - we were looking for a place to brunch with four adults and a small baby, and they were very accommodating here. The waitress was super nice even when our small friend was a bit upset and probably driving other people insane (sorry, everyone). The brunch menu is a great deal - an entree and cocktail for around $15!"

  • "This location is near my work. First time back for a while. Everything was fine until food came out and one of my colleagues had a big hair on the top of his food. We pointed it out immediately and they took it away and brought a 'fresh plate' 5 minutes later, leaving the rest of the group to start eating before our food went cold. No other mention from the restaurant though. Disappointing for what used to be one of my fave restaurants. Prefer the 3rd Ave location."

  • "Dos Caminos has a pleasant feel inside at night, they make good guacamole but the food was pretty average. My shrimp quesadilla had only a few fragments of shrimp and was overly sauced."

  • "Good environment , service everyone was very helpful. Food was great! Drinks even better!"

  • "Although the food was good the service was not- our waiter was not attentive or respectful because we were younger than the other patrons in the restaurant."

  • "Starters unexceptional and the guacamole was flavorless and overly pureed. But the surf&turf and carnitas tacos were exceptional, worth the price of admission. Also enjoyed the organic margaritas....."

  • "Love the margaritas and guac! We were a party of 8 and had very good service. Everyone enjoyed their meal!"

  • "The ceiling was leaking. It leaked all over my coat. Plus, the waiter kept ignoring our group."

  • "The staff always welcome us and take care to provide timely service, not too intrusive, no hovering. Offered a new beer this trip and I enjoyed the new taste. The guacamole (spicy) is our favorite opening dish. Not surprised to note the outdoor court was closed, no gas heaters running and no patrons standing in line to sit outdoors (Feb 16 visit and too cold, too much snow). We arrived at 1:30 Sunday for brunch and the restaurant was perhaps 40% full. By the time we departed, the place was full."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his 25th birthday dinner before going out for the night and we had a great time. The seating is very cozy ( we were between two couples, but you get used to that quickly and the music is loud enough that you don't feel like you are eavesdropping). The drinks were delicious and so was the food (we both shared the guacamole and ordered the mar y tierra tacos). Everything was enjoyable and our server was great. He even gave us birthday frozen margarita shots for the occasion and comped our expressos that we ordered. Just be careful not to drink those frozen margaritas too quickly...my bf learned his lesson the hard way. I would definitely recommend dos caminos to others!"

  • "We had a reservation for a later slot, but when my fiancé and I finished our shopping early they were able to find us a table right away. We tried a blood orange margarita and a smoked-spice-type margarita, both were excellent. The tacos were wonderful, as was the barbacoa. Our waitress was attentive but didn't hover. She thoughtfully recognized that we'd need more tortillas before we did. I would definitely dine here again!"

  • "On Friday afternoon, I went to Dos Caminos Soho for the very first time with two other friends who were visiting from out of town. We were all in the mood for some good sit down Mexican food and weren't disappointed. We tried the enchiladas, guacamole, burgers and flan; everything was what I expected, nothing less nothing more... I got the value I was paying for. My waiter/server, Salvatore, was "the man" and one of the top reasons I'd probably come back; he provided good service and recommendations whenever we asked questions about the menu. Also, I appreciated OpenTable's services and the ease with which I could schedule. CK"

  • "There is nothing I don't love about Dos Caminos! Therefore a definite must upon every visit to New York."

  • "Have gone to their park ave place and it was much better, booked a reservation for 6 PM on New Year's Eve. Was going to concert at Barclays. Upon arrival the hostess was unfriendly. Advised despite reservation we would either have to sit at bar seats, not good, or vacate a dining table in 1 hour. We opted for table because where else can we go at that point on New Years. But it was rushed and unpleasant. However the waiter was nice . He was not the problem. Also balloons had strings which kept floating over lighted candles which is uncomfortable. In summary I don not think the restaurant handled the reservation in a fair or competent manner."

  • "the food looked good but was not good at all. They try to over compensate for the quality of food by quantity. I heard so much about Dos Caminos I just had to go. I enjoyed the ambiance and my waiter was great. I had to give her a good tip for her service. I couldnt blame her for the food. I definitely will not be going back or recommending anyone go there. Thumbs ALL the way down!"

  • "I dine at this restaurant often, so I can say this much that the food is consistently good, service is great, and really a comfortable place to dine. This particular occasion was for a birthday, and we just had a wonderful time with good food, friendly and attentive service, and in a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant has a great outdoor seating area as well, so it is perfect for summer outdoor-dining as well. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "The service is excellent, and the ambiance is ideal for a date. When I left, the manager specifically called me by name to wish me a good evening. We needed the food to be gluten free, and they were more than accommodating. However, the food was also my sticking point. It was good, but not memorable. If this restaurant were in a suburb or small town, it would stand a good chance of being one of the best in the area. But the portions (we had fajitas, guac, and plantains) were a little too small, and the prices a little too high, to make it anything beyond a romantic neighborhood gem in NYC. I would go again, but it is not on my favorites list. Let me reiterate that the overall experience is worthwhile; I just concentrate on taste buds a lot."

  • "went here to celebrate a night out with friends. drinks, food, and service was good. I've been to this location before and the other location in NYC. I do prefer the other location. But overall, it was a pleasant experience."

  • "I'm usually easy on dining establishments however I feel the need to warn would be goers that this is not a quality establishment. My wife and I invited our sister in-law out for her birthday and we chose the SoHo location over the uptown location. BIG MISTAKE. The temperature in the restaurant was so hot that we all were very uncomfortable. The food was no better than Taco Bell. Please heed my advice and stay away. The Dos Caminos in Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and other NYC locations are very good."

  • "I've been to Dos Caminos several times in both of their locations. The food is fantastic, the sangria is a must, and the atmosphere is very cool, trendy and very NYC. The Soho location is my favorite in the summer because of the outdoor dining. It's perfect for lunch on a beautiful afternoon, and ideal for dinner in the evening on a beautiful summers night. Service is very good as well. There's nothing negative I can say about Dos Caminos. It's one of my top 10 favs in the city and I would definitely recommend it to friends and out-of-town guests."

  • "I attendes dos caminos for my 24th birthday and had a terrible time ! The waiter took 20-30 minutes just to take our drink orders then kept vanishing for long periods of time. When we got our food it was all wrong and 3 of my guest sent their food back. One of my guests wanted to wrap their food up for later and they threw the food out. The manager was very rude to me and my guest. Over all it was a very bad experience and I had a horrible 24th birthday"

  • "A great place to stop on the way home to catch up with friends and share libations and talk. We always schedule time every other month. A super evening on the outside patio when weather is not wet or cold."

  • "We always enjoy dining here, Sunday brunch or evening on the way home. Outdoor patio is fun with a lower noise level. Great guacamole with chips and super Margarita's."

  • "We made a last minute reservation at Dos Caminos as we were running to a second set show at the Blue Note. The food was great, the drinks were perfect and our server was outstanding. We only had about an hour, the server and the kitchen were very accommodating so we could make our deadline.... they took great care of us in a short time window. In hindsight our only regret was that we didn't stay longer at Dos Caminos because the meal was great and the show was not very good. This is a fun place, bring some friends, enjoy the food, drinks and great service."

  • "Dos Caminos in SOHO and Meatpacking have amazing outdoor areas, and the food is good as long as you don't order anything too goofy. Personally, our favorite is the off-menu cheese fondue and chorizo, which was removed from past menus but still available to order. We had that and guacamole, and it was enough for lunch. We loved it."

  • "I had early dinner with 8 family members and none of us like the food. Most of us had the skirt steak dish which we all dislike a lot, meat look more like hanger steak bad quality bad taste bad presentation i was really expecting something much better. One of us order tacos which i will say were descent but do you expect descent tacos in a Mexican restaurant??? I expected mind blowing tacos but i guess it just didnt happen for me ...Never again ..."
