Diner Reviews
  • "I dined here in a party of four on a Saturday night. We had reservations, but were treated as though we were lesser priority customers. We were rushed through both our appetizer and main courses. We were clearly not finished with our food before it was rudely taken away each time."

  • "Food mediocre, service nonexistent, prices not justifiable. Was there for my father's birthday. All of us were extremely disappointed."

  • "Food was great and service was kind and friendly, however the service was a little slow considering how empty the restaurant was at the time we went. Noise level was perfect, busy but not too loud."

  • "It's good, not great. Portions are small. I think the one in SOho was better than Park Ave. It's not a place I would say, OMG! you have got to try it. I would go back if someone wants to try it."

  • "As always, was great food, service and atmosphere. Perfect for lunch; business or casual."

  • "Dos Caminos is always a great experience and an easy pick for large parties. I have held birthdays, bachelorette parties, brunches, and simple dinners there and everyone has always been pleased."

  • "Dos Caminos is amazing and accommodates everything the client may need."

  • "We brought in a group of 7 for a company lunch. We were seated at a great round table - perfect for social interaction. Service was excellent and very attentive. We ordered the queso and guacamole. Both delicious! Everyone enjoyed their drink and lunch (tacos, enchiladas). Flavor and spice were excellent. Winner for us!"

  • "Service was great the food was nasty however I ever enjoyed the Don Julio margarita and the guacamole"

  • "DC is in a great location, they have a great menu, & an excellent cocktail selection. The food is authentic and well prepared. The service is professional, prices are not out of order. They seem to cater for groups quite well. We needed a quiet table and even though the restaurant was full, we got a booth and had a great meal."

  • "fine if you're hungry and want mexican. good service but disappointing food"

  • "The empanadas platanos are fantastic, I love the mahi mahi tacos or short rib tacos (was a special one day), and their brunch is delicious (specifically their Eggs Benedict with jalipeno biscuit or their breakfast cheesy enchiladas)."

  • "We had some challenges at first at this location because of a hostess, but Mark saved the day with his exceptional service and great attititude. We were a group of 10+, and he made us feel fully taken care of, and valued. Thank you to Mark! Not to mention the food was incredible!!"

  • "Aside from the amazing food and service, Dos Caminos has a truly vibrant and lively atmosphere. The room is filled with loud, catchy music and happy customers just excited on their night out. Dos Caminos has beautiful eclectic decor making it trendy and fun but fancy enough for a night out."

  • "We went for lunch with clients so unfortunately could not enjoy the margaritas (usually the spicy one is my go-to). But overall, the food was good, guacamole is a must-have."

  • "Food was tasty and waiter was very nice and provided great service, but place was too loud and we could not hear each other."

  • "Came for my daughter's 24th birthday...her choice. Food is always great and it is a vibrant scene. I think the lighting is a little too low and so it's hard to see the menu. I'm only 53, not like 70, but I would like to see who I'm with and what I'm ordering and eating! Otherwise it's fun and the food is reliably great!"

  • "I've worked across the stree from Dos Caminos for years and finally had lunch here. Overall, they have a very intresting menu and I think I just ordered the wrong thing - the waiter represented the veggie quesadilla's were something special but in fact, they were skimpy on the veggies and didn't have much character."

  • "Mediocre food, rushed service, not cheap. The staff pushes you to get guacamole and margaritas, which are average and overpriced, so you wouldn't care about the food. It mostly works. But the location is trendy, the DJ good, and the mood festive."

  • "A big place, but surprisingly not too loud, even though it was crowded. Overall, the food was very good -- clearly made with fresh ingredients. A couple of the dishes were way too spicy, with no indication on the menu, and when the waiter came by to ask how our meals were, I told him that one of the dishes was quite spicy, she acknowledged that they'd recently changed the recipe. But that was it. I think I should have perhaps had the option to exchange it? But whatever. Overall, fun place. A bit slow, but not annoyingly."

  • "We had dinner at Dos Caminos for our friends' 30th birthdays. I made the reservation and had only written down one birthday candle request. My husband and I arrived early and we were able to add the second candle request without a problem. They seated us even though our whole party was not there, which was very nice of them (even though we were willing to wait). Our waiter was fantastic. He suggested my husband try a tequila that is aged in Jack Daniels barrels (my husband loves Jack), and my husband now has a new drink! The food was excellent! All plates were cleared! Definitely recommend this restaurant!"

  • "When we arrived we were seated at a "squished in" table even though there were plenty of other open tables. (And we did have a reservation mind you!) The hostess did move us at our request. We ordered an appetizer and within a few minutes our main course was thrown at us. We were not even finished with the appetizer at that point. The waitress, who was the only bright spot to the experience, did offer to send our dinners back to the kitchen but the damage was already done. The food was absolutely terrible. I had the chicken tacos which were rubbery and tasteless and my bf's dinner was way too spicy and smothered in mole sauce. As I said above, the waitress was wonderful everything else was terrible......we will never go back!!"

  • "Its been a while where I was in love with everything about a restaurant but this place has it all. Hospitable host and waiters, great food, reasonable prices and wonderful drinks! Ask for Kevin if possible, he was our waiter and had a good knowledge on the food and had good recommendations. The ambiance was also noteworthy - especially if you're there in the evening with their unique light fixtures and candles on every table."

  • "My boyfriend loves Spanish food, so decided this would be a great place to take him for his birthday dinner. They sat us at a romantic corner booth and made sure we were well taken care of the entire time. We ordered margaritas which were not watered down (always a plus) along with guacamole for an appetizer. The guacamole is outstanding! It tastes just like its homemade. Our dinner was delicious and at the end of the night the bill was at a great price. I would definitely come back here for another special occasion."

  • "It seemed to me like they were spending more focus on the music than anything else. The hostess could not handle the crowd at the door and didn't give much priority to people with reservations. It seemed like Happy Hour drew a big crowd but the restaurant wasn't even that crowded before we sat down. The food was fine. I wish there was a little more attention to making the dishes creative or unique. The rice and beans for the table was mostly beans and not very warm."

  • "I dont know which was worse: the faux mexican food and nasty cheap margarita mix or the overall attitude of complete indifference"

  • "One of the best dos Caminos in the city very good food .."

  • "we used to really enjoy this restaurant. But, tho the drinks and the gualcamole are still great, everything else is mediocre. The surf and turf special had a few pieces of dry lobster, basically turf without the surf. Salmon special was not good. Salad good. Decor and restrooms are beat up, needs an overhaul."

  • "The restaurant exceeded our expectations with the food and the service. It is more than you average Mexican restaurant. The menu was solid and the food was really enjoyable. The main dining room is in a basement but was fine, the food and service made it very worth while."

  • "We arrived 15 mins before time to see 4 booths empty. The hostess proceeded to set us up at a table far back. On requesting we be seated in one of the booths, she declined, saying (all 4 of them) were 'reserved' by people who 'should be walking in anytime now'. Well, we made reservations too, and we were there- but they won't seat us because we didn't request booths specially. We weren't asked if there was an option to choose- so we didn't specify! Anyway, we actually stood and waited to be seated for about 15 mins past our reservation time! We made another reservation at 8:15 requesting booths, but the manager told us that might not be honored b/c of 'availability'. Let me remind you there were still 3 open! The people never showed up btw."

  • "The menu goes beyond just tacos and offers items like smoked brisket enchiladas as well as delicious simple grilled fishes and wonderful salads. The guacamole was fresh and there is a full bar menu. We had excellent service on a busy Friday evening."

  • "I was a bit apprehensive about eating mexican food in New York City. But as a recommendation from a friend on a good date spot I tried it. I have no regrets. The food and drinks were GREAT! Also great atmosphere."

  • "If you wanna go to happy hour on the impression that margaritas are $7 as advertised, but get charged $12.50 when the bill comes, Dos Caminos is the place to go to! I can't believe I was overcharged & ripped off like that.. Never coming back here again.."

  • "Dos Caminos was highly recommended by a friend so I decided to book my husband's b'day dinner here. While making the reservation, I had asked them to bring the candle with the dessert. When we checked-in, we loved the ambience of the place. Big and nicely lit up with the lovely wooden lanterns, it was just the place I had in mind. The hostess was very sweet and friendly. Food was great. I'm a vegetarian and my choices are usually limited, but the tacos here are to kill for. This will be my go-to Mexican spot in NYC now:) Then, we ordered dessert and I was worried that they may not bring the candle..but they did!!!:)) it was a little surprise for my husband and it brought that million dollar smile on his face:) Love this place!"

  • "Great food, great ambience, only thing was a waiter that seemed aloof and missing for a lot of the night. But I think he was just a bad apple. Rest of the place was awesome. Going back."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "My friends & I had a great time for my birthday. The waiter was super nice, I hope I get him again! However, the guacamole was way over priced, $24 is ridiculous. Besides that, my overall experience was AMAZING!!"

  • "Food was just ok - disappointing. Only saving grace was their guacamole."

  • "We usually order from this restaurant so we like the food. We decided to go to the restaurant for a change. It was not a calm dining experience. From the dj to the tables of patrons trying to talk over the music it made conversation almost impossible. The bar service was slow. I ordered a second drink before my entree which only came once I had finished. We couldn't get out of there fast enough."

  • "Park Ave is my favorite Dos Caminos restaurant. The perfect spicy fresh guacamole, great tacos, and of course the best margaritas."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Had soft shell crab taco. Very good and a surprising creation. Spicy guac delivered as appetizer. Amusingly my path from table to restroom offered three separate opportunities to end up in the kitchen following the directions given."
