Diner Reviews
  • "This location is busy at night, so if you don't want all the hubbub, try another location, like the one in midtown. If you are committed to eat at this location and want a less hectic area, ask for a table upstairs. The food is great and portions generous. The staff is attentive and friendly."

  • "I am getting disappointed with Dos Caminos more and more with every visit! I don't think I'll be going there any more. Their food is not as good as some other Mexican restaurants in NYC. There are definitely a lot more better places, such as Rosa Mexicana, Mad Dogs & Beans, etc."

  • "Perfect day out. Usually I love Dos, but I wasn't really impressed by the food on this day. Pollo tacos usually can't be messed up but they were pretty gross and didn't really have any chicken in them."

  • "It has been awhile since i visited a Dos Caminos location and let me say i dont know why it took so long to go back. Perfect additions on the menu and the go to dish Guacamole was awesome! Thank you for the accomadating seating outside."

  • "This is one of my favorite places in the city to eat. They have an amazing outdoor space, but it's hard to get a table when it's really nice outside. Food is always good. Great bar."

  • "Unfortunately my experience as Dos Caminos was disappointing. Service was incredibly slow, the food was unimpressive & poorly executed. We weren't approached for over 10 minutes. We flagged down a hostess to find our server; she was the woman with her back to the room leaning against the bar. The Carne Asada tacos were prepared as: (1) had 4-5 small strips of meat, and a giant glob of guac. (2) had a medium amount of meat, and normal guac. (3) had a pile of meat, and no guac. ?? The meal was largely flavorless. My take-away is that this venue has only survived based on its location. There's a world of flavor and ingredients out there. Quit trying to scrape by with the bare minimum."

  • "Made reservations for 11 and had no problems at all. Staff was all upbeat, music was high energy and the atmosphere was fun, fun, fun. It was clear that staff was very busy, given the Gay Pride activities going on outside - but despite that, the mood was good. Food was a bit warm (not hot), but our entire party understood that the kitchen was also on over-drive. Great drinks. Server was busy, yet always there for us... Thanks!"

  • "So after my last horrific experience, I decided to give this place another shot. Besides, I love the indoor seating and great brunch. So, I scheduled my Birthday Brunch for 8 and it was a SUCCESS!! My new server Dee was awesome. And two of my former waiters (Emily and Chris) recognized me and made a point of wishing me Happy Birthday. The hostess Ana was so sweet too!! Everyone was so friendly and made me feel like they were family. Great JOB!! I will definitely be back!! I wish it was my birthday again this weekend!!"

  • "Food was good. Service was not attentive. We were sitting at an outside table and had to wait very long to put in food and drink orders. Just getting the check took a while."

  • "We haven't been to Dos Caminos in a while. I remembered it was "fancy" Mexican food. Pleasantly surprised, the food was just great! And the staff from the host, to the drink waitress to or dinner server were all so friendly and happy. We will definatley return."

  • "Great service, the empanadas and guacamole appetizers were to die for. The plantain masa used for the empanadas was perfect. Received complimentary margaritas as first time visitors. They even attempted to make my friend a paralyzer when they'd never heard of one. Would love to go back and will recommend to friends visiting NYC."

  • "Dos Caminos was a wonderful find for our girl's weekend. Ambiance was great, service fantastic and food was so tasty. Wasn't touristy. We felt like locals which was awesome. I will come back again and again. Loved the casual atmosphere."

  • "Brunch here is always a good time. The food is always great. The servers are amazing. Just a fun spot to go. One of the best outdoor dining spaces in town as well. The brunch prices, which include a cocktail, are very affordable and worth getting."

  • "We were a group of 6 looking for a place offering good drinks and dinner. At least 2 of my friends recommended this one and they were right! The slight miscommunication between the hosts regarding our pre-booking was quickly resolved and we were seated as requested. The hostess was a cheerful and friendly lady who brought our drinks almost instantly! The food was great and the service, excellent. I thought the bar area was quite vibrant with lot of guests talking n laughing loudly, must try that the next time!"

  • "It was a busy Sunday and we waited for about 1/2 hour for a seat outside despite making a reservation (I didn't know there was outdoor seating and didn't specify in the reservation). Our waiter seemed to have tables both inside and outside, but still was very attentive. The food was excellent. Everything from the made to order guac to the carne asada, the chicken tacos, veggie quesadillas (everything we ordered we kind of shared since everything was so good). Topped off with the prickly pear shots which were very refreshing. Not a lot of room for chair space but it is NYC and space is limited. Other than that, very delighted with our dining experience."

  • "A little pricey, but very good guacamole, and veggie tacos with asparagus, avocado and more. Very tasty side of red quinoa. Service a little slow but this was a holiday weekend and lunchtime."

  • "The food was delish!! The Tuna and the Snapper appetizers were awesome, ditto on the guacamole! (We stuck with the traditional one). For dinner the Salmon in Avocado Pipian was great, although I didn't care for the grilled oyster mushroom it came with. We sat outside which is the way to go especially if you like to people watch. It was a little chilly that night & all the heaters were with the high tables for 2 by the entrance, would be nice if they scattered a few where the larger party tables were. Do not leave without having one of their margaritas, they were the BEST!!!!"

  • "I went with a group of friends for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic. The entrees for brunch were extremely reasonable (about $14) and included the meal, one alcoholic drink, and either tea or coffee. I had the eggs Benedict with a jalapeño and cheddar biscuit and it was delicious! The service was good; our food and drinks came out quickly and we were able to stay and hang out after we paid for our meal. We'll definitely be going back to dos caminos for another Sunday funday brunch!"

  • "For anyone wanting to eat outside - OpenTable reservations are only for indoor seating. The margaritas were great! Although when asking what was organic about the organic margarita the waitperson said it had agave syrup which is low calorie...huh? The waiter forgot to put in our order for guacamole and we couldn't find him until after our entrees arrived. They canceled the order and offered us dessert long after we had asked for the check. The ambiance is OK, just my taste but bumping house music in a mexican restaurant in the middle of a lazy sunny day didn't fit the mood of the area."

  • "I come here ever weekend for brunch. I professionally do evaluation so feel the need to let managers know of good servers. I let him know know that I loved my new server Daniel and he was so rude!! He and the female hostess who was seating people outside both need some sort of public relations training!! I will probably NOT be back because of them!! GO somewhere else!!! "

  • "Picked based on location for a post meal walk on the high line. Service was prompt, friendly, helpful. Food was good quality, served hot, spice level as described. Did not try the drinks, next time. "

  • "I made a reservation for Mother's Day and when I got the confirmation call I asked for outdoor seating. When I arrived the hostess told me having a reservation was only for a table INSIDE. That's pretty crucial information that should have been conveyed when I requested outside. On our way to be seated a busser came flying at my sister with a bucket of dishes and made her step aside as service staff are NEVER supposed to do. The food runner rudely shoved our plates in our hands, including my 80+ year old grandmother (these are large heavy plates of food). The runner should place plates on the table. He was also very curt and rude. And from the time we ordered our drinks until we got them we had to wait 25 minutes. "

  • "The food was so disappointing, it took me sending the guacamole back twice before it tasted somewhat good. The tacos were mediocre and the drinks were small and watered down. Don't waste your time coming here, the service was the only redeemable quality."

  • "Decided to meet some friends at Dos Caminos. They were from out of town and we needed some "catch up" time. No problem at Dos Caminos. We had a few drinks before we ordered appetizers and dinner. Server was not rushing us and was attentive to when we needed refills. Music was fun and we ended having a wonderful time! Food, as always, great. Thank you..."

  • "The choice of music was great, the dj mixed the music really well. But the noise level was too high and it was hard to carry on a conversation with people at our own table. Perhaps have it high in the bar area and a wee notch quieter in the dinning portion. The drinks were delicious, however the food was mediocre at best. The homemade guacamole was delicious."
