  • "We have been to this restaurant five times and it has been excellent each and every time. Highly recommend it............."

  • "Everything was very good. The only downside to the menu is limited side dishes. The sides are also small. Other then that the place is great."

  • "Came here for my birthday and were in love with the food, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. Must must must get tuna tar tar, sweetbreads, steak tartar, steak from the grill, seared tuna, beef carpaccio. We order almost everything several times until couldn't eat anymore. Deserts are another adventure. Only had the chocolate desert and halvah mousse, both outstanding. Wish had more space. Came back next day for lunch, i definitely recommend this to anyone. Love Love Love :)"

  • "Had a dinner for one and discovered the maître d was from close to my home town. He was simply outstanding and checked on me regularly throughout my meal. The wait staff was wonderful and the food exceptional. The celebration tomato salad was just superb! A great place to dine!"

  • "A wonderful experience overall - great food, good drinks, perfect service (though what's up with the napkins under every utensil change?). Doris Metropolitan is a great addition to the French Quarter and NOLA dining scene."

  • "From the great food to the sexy ambiance...to the moody music this is one of the best restaurants in NOLA!"

  • "Have been about 10 times. Among those, I have had dinners for 2,6 and 16 and lunches for 2 and 8 people. Food was great and consistent. The small courtyard was fun for our larger party for dinner. The staff was very attentive, from the manager to the "wine guy" to the wait staff. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about the menu, especially explaining the different cuts of meat. We have started ordering "family style' so that our guests can taste all the appetizers as well as the entrees."

  • "We really enjoyed the incredible food, service and ambiance of Doris Metropolitan! Steaks were so tender, you can cut it with a butter knife."

  • "Great location close to the St. Louis Cathedral, unique and creative selections off of a somewhat limited entree menu but who cares........each one that we had were memorable. Decided on a wine recommendaton from our Hungarian waiter and found a new favorite. Had entree, desert and wine and will try appetizers next time (an excellent excuse to go back again). Exceptional addition to an already great food town."

  • "Following this my fifth visit, I must say Doris never fails to deliver. A great addition to the NOLA dining scene, coming from Israel via Cost Rica. Tastetful chic decor and lighting. Flavorful house aged steaks (properly cooked to temp), marvelous appetizers (carpaccio and stuffed beet stand out, but haven't tried them all). Warm friendly staff that isn't far from perfect, it's a new place so. Did I mention the burger is well worth trying if not up or a steak. Oh and the tartare is marvelous, if not up for a cooked steak ;-) Feel like I must say something less raving for credibility. OK how about more than a dollop of the compound butters for the breads. Don't everyone rush over there, because I still want to be able to get a table!"

  • "Mary was the consummate professional as our server. She was extremely helpful, friendly and cordial in helping us to decide for our appetizers etc... Dori even came over to personally wish Gen a Happy Birthday! Service was excellent, chef was fantastic, the meat was perfect and the ambiance was exceptional! When we return to "Nawlins", we will definitely enjoy a few meals here."

  • "Everything about Doris was outstanding. Have been twice now and will go back soon. The beet root is one of the best appetizers I have ever had. A must!"

  • "The restaurant was very nice, the food very good but it is way too noisy to enjoy the evening with friends for good food & conversation."

  • "Great place to go for steaks. The meat was of extremely high caliber. The service was attentive and friendly. Expensive, but you are paying for high quality. The sides were good but not great. The tuna and green salad were great starts. Overall, if you are looking for a unique steak house experience in a great ambiance and location, then you should give this restaurant a try."

  • "We had the stuffed beet appetizer, 24 hour short rib, and 31-day set aged NY strip. We don't usually like beets, but this was recommended by a friend. It is a coded out beet with walnuts and cheese that is roasted for an hour. The wife's short rib was very tender, moist, and lean; large portions. My steak was the most sublime, unctious, steakiest steak I ever had. Cooked perfectly."

  • "We are self-proclaimed foodies, and Doris Metropolitan knocked our socks off! The Sweetbreads were out of this world. My husband had the Porterhouse and I had the Butcher's Cut. They were, quite possibly, the two best cuts of meat we have ever encountered. They were so tender we didn't need steak knives. We both had our steaks served Medium and they were cooked perfectly. For sides, we had the Truffle French Fries and the Root Puree. Both excellent. The wine list is wide, with wonderful pairings. The service was fantastic. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "My food was excellent! My boyfriends on the other hand ended up being sent back as it was mostly fat. He was able to order something else and was satisfied, however I felt they should have at least comped his meal. I work in a small restaurant and if someone is not satisfied their order is comped no question. I found it strange that that wasn't the case at this upscale restaurant. Overall it was still a great evening!"

  • "Was in town for a medical conference....actually referred here by a local NOLA resident. I can only say it was outstanding. I ate at the bar by myself and all the patrons had a meal at the bar, and were equally complimentary. Nick the bartender was knowledgeable on all aspects including the meals. Apps were off the hook (the blue fin tuna tartare), and I had a bone-in 31 day aged tenderloin. My mouth is still watering. Wine list exceptional. I visited Emeril's Delmonico the night prior, and this was on par, if not better, than there. I would return to NOLA just to re-visit this place. It was that good."

  • "The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was amazing. The Classified Cut steak was absolutely the best option because it came with the "potato surprise." Fabulous manager, hostess and server. We couldn't have asked for anything better when it came to celebrating my boyfriend's birthday."

  • "This was our favorite restaurant in NOLA last week. The service was great and the room we were sitting in was quiet (although the restaurant is pretty busy and energetic). Beef is obviously the thing to get; we split the "fall off the bone" short ribs and added truffle fries and grilled vegetables. The food was different but delicious and our server was engaged and helpful. We'll definitely returned."

  • "What a wonderful restaurant. I think it is one of the great new bar and restaurant in New Orleans. Great decor, food and service."

  • "Like steak? Eat here. No steak knives, just a butter knife-nuff said. I was torn on the service rating. The server and manager were wonderful, but the kitchen screwed up our meal twice: first our ticket was list then they cooked both of our selections wrong (swapping our requests). BUT! The manager handled it so well. Gave us free dessert and champagne and seemed honestly concerned. But at the prices I didn't expect less with a mistake but also TWO mistakes? Overall I would go back. They handled a bad situation graciously."

  • "Our first experience was very nice, we have thoughts of doing different things on the menu next time but there are some most haves too. The beetroot salad and tuna tartare (bluefin on this occasion) were excellent but we hope to add the artichoke salad too, three appetizers might be a stretch but we will have to try. The bone in ribeye was excellent but I think next time we will both try a different cut, to experiment. Yes the good news is it was excellent our server John was wonderful, helpful with suggestions and paid special attention to us. The restaurant's ambiance and design is modern and well laid out with a courtyard worthy of a try during nice weather. Could not help but take pictures of the museum like meat drying room."

  • "This was or second trip to Doris M. Another great meal. The steaks are great as you would expect, but the appetizers are unlike anything else in New Orleans and well worth a visit. The Beetroot and artichoke appetizers are fantastic. I sat near a couple who came back just to have the beetroot appetizer and no steaks. Mixed drinks are creative, and they have a good wine list. So if you are in the Quarter and want something different after you have had your traditional New Orleans food, try Doris M. you will not be disappointed."

Actually....Maybe the best ever!! Can't wait to get back to NOLA and dine here again. I will definitely be spreading the word.... Thanks, Jacob from Nashville"

  • "We dine out often and I can honestly say that we had the best piece of meat we have ever had. It was cook exactly as we requested and the taste and tenderness was outstanding. Also the tomato appetizer was wonderful. Except for the noise level ( due to Mardi Gras) it was a wonderful evening dining experience"

  • "Doris has quickly become one of our favorite Quarter restaurants!"
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "Overall, we did really enjoy our dinner. But it was a mixed ride along the way. The food was good, even though it reminded me to always order my steak "rare" (there is just too much variation in "medium rare".) And the wines that we ended up drinking were great. The service, on the other hand, was mixed. On the plus side, whenever there was a problem (a couple of issues with the initial order of wine) it was taken care of promptly and appropriately. But overall, it left the experience feeling a bit disjointed. Which isn't surprising given that we dealt with 11 different staff, in some capacity or another, across the course of the meal. The food would bring me back for a second meal, but felt like a restaurant just starting out."

  • "The drinks were terrible. Margarita we couldn't drink, cosmopolitan not good, chocolate martini's very bitter, french martini did not taste like any french martini that I have had. I almost started looking for the candid camera because I couldn't believe it and I though I was being punked. There were 3 of us that had problems with our drinks. When we were at the bar a waiter brought a drink back and said the gentleman said to tell the bartender he needs to learn how to make a drink. The steaks were good but the sides are just ok and very small portion. Tiny asparagus and the mashed potatoes were cold and not good. The french fries were good. We have eaten here twice, but for the price I don't feel that it was worth it."

  • "this is a new restaurant and a nice welcome to the quarter. They need to work on a few things .. service was inconsistent all night long. some of the cuts of beef were referred by the servers as cuts from the Cow.. If we wanted cow meat we would have gone to Metairie :) .. Fine dining restaurants should train their servers better in the names of the beet. corkage fees - we were a large group and while told of the modest fee of $ 15.00 per bottle we were not told of the 2 bottle maximum. the appetizers were delicious and the surprise beef cuts were better than the rib eye."

  • "I was recommended this place by 3 friends that live over an hour out of town and it did not disappoint us...I had the Ribeye and cut it with a butter knife... Excellent!!!"
