  • "Tried later on Saturday night. Was less crowded and less noisy. Food was dependably good, if pricey. Service Again was terrible. Had to ask for napkins and silverware after we'd been there @ 10-15 minutes. Server was mostly inattentive and finally brought one setting, then another when asked again and basically threw iit at us. Was there an extra charge we missed on the menu? Have noted that consistently, bigger parties get better service. Wondered why that is?"

  • "We were staying next door at the Radisson and there is no other option in the area so your stuck eating here. Service and food are ok, nothing special. They made a big deal about the fresh baked bread. It was good and we finished the basket and asked for more. We noticed when they brought seconds it was different bread and not fresh baked. I guess you only get fesh once. Unfortunately when staying in Cross Keys this is the only option. Also we asked for a Mojito and they said no they were out of mint, but there were Lamb Chops on the menu with fresh mint."

  • "Our reservation was for Wed Apr 2 and we showed up on that date, and after being greeted by the hostess and then a very nice gentleman, we were seated. I mentioned several times to the hostess that we had a reservation and gave my last name. Our meal was served and after a lovely lunch, we departed. An hour or so later I received an email that our reservation had been cancelled by Donna's! I called Donna's, asked to speak to the manager and she told me they couldn't fix their error. I was told to make the same reservation for the next day and they would honor that. None of this felt good at all. It wasn't the truth. My friends and I like Donna's, but after this recent experience, we won't be rushing back."

  • "We chose Donna's because they alone in the area would serve our party of three before a 5:30 PM engagement. Without its outdoor dining area (this is March), Donna’s ambience is simple and functional. The food quality more than made up for that. We ordered from the lunch menu and were served a fried calamari appetizer that was to kill for. Large portion and the best I've ever eaten. I had fish and chips with wild cod in a nice light batter. My wife and our friend enjoyed the grilled strip steak and pasta with gulf shrimp. Service was outstanding (we arrived at 4 PM). The wine list deserves mention because it is thoughtfully selected and priced fairly. We chose the Louis Roederer champagne for $55. The cask wines are a bargain."

  • "second and third courses were delivered to the table luke warm. Our third course was reheated. We were offered a compted dessert, which we declined and asked for a couple of coffees instead- which also ended up being luke warm. The restaurant has been around for quite some time with a good reputation (we have friends who love it), so I am pretty sure we just caught them on an off night."

  • "We asked for a quiet table -- and the restaurant was nearly full -- and we were seated on the patio [with heaters] at a corner table, where we could actually carry on a conversation! Wonderful! The food was great: oysters Rockefeller were delicious and hot; the trout was cooked perfectly and the combination of the fish with kale salad is terrific; chicken dishes were also well prepared and tasty. We love the food here, the service is very good, and we would keep coming back just for the ambiance."

  • "We love Donna's. And we love that there was a "special" valentine's meal. The strawberry and blood orange salad was delicious, although we didn't see any blood orange. The passion fruit palate cleanser sorbet was tasty and sweet. The main dish tiny bird was an unusual disappointment. Very very little meat overwhelmed with a lot of goat cheese "stuffing." Next occasion we will order something else. We still love Donna's."

  • "Donna's Cross Keys had a wonderful, reasonably priced prix fixe for Valentine's weekend, and we were not disappointed. Excellent fried oysters and lamb chops cooked to order, plus very unusual and delicious preparation of escargot. It is worth the drive from Columbia, MD. If we lived nearby, we would be there once a week!"

  • "Donnas is usually consistent, delicious, and inviting. This Valentines day special meal was such a disappointment. The prix fixe menu was sans one item before 7 pm (the waiter failed to alert us ). Bronzino was fishy smelling, and smelling and so full of bones as to be unworthy of the effort. The worst was the waiter---inattentive and distracted. Needed repeated reminders about the orders! Just not up to what this restaurant does so well!"

He never came around, seemed very full of himself (too good to be of assistance), took our food away without asking if we were done (we were not done), and was all around horrible. However, when the owner, Donna, came out to deliver some of our dishes, she was very lovely and treated us well. I'm sorry that she was employing such a poor server. I would say that this is not typical of the service they provide, but since it was a business dinner, I felt a bit embarrassed that my guest did not get the care and service I had hoped for."

  • "I've dined at Donna's many times but this lunch was a major disappointment. Roast beef sandwich on brioche was a special of the day, but it was far from special. The server responded to my inquiry that the roast beef was rare, but when it arrived it was dark brown, dry, and had a strongly unpleasant metallic flavor. The accompanying potatoes were cold. My companion had the other special of the day, shrimp salad served on a bed of greens and she enjoyed her lunch. When I asked about the apple cake dessert, the server could not describe it except to say it was "dry." I decided to skip dessert. Water refills came only upon request. Surprisingly, Donna was in the restaurant but clearly not overseeing her kitchen."

  • "We really appreciate everything they offer at Donna's: great wines, delicious food and a almost sophisticated kid's menu. While it includes the standard fare (burger and pizza) it also includes salad and hummus platter. It would be great if the kids menu also included one seafood item (maybe salmon or fish and chips?). We enjoy the chance to eat "adult" foods with our kids. And the brownie sundae is the best."
