  • "This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in town - fresh high quality ingredients go into the Mexican standards done to perfection with creative specials that reflect modern Mexican cuisine. They have an interesting and well priced wine list and many variations on Mexican and other cocktails. We have used their private room for large groups and the food, ordered from the menu, comes out hot and the service is great."

  • "Menu is the typical Mexican with additional items that are not typical Mexican but excellent choices."

  • "This a neighborhood gem. The Mexican food can not get any better. The carne asada, to die for. Margaritas, generous on the tequila pour! I was there for my birthday for my family. But this is one of my favorites in Edison Park."

  • "The atmosphere and the service was great. I would recommend it to anyone . Bar and cockatils were good . And food was amazing. For bein first timer the overall experience was 10 out of 10. Un servicio completo :)"

  • "I took some business associates here looking for a more casual restaurant atmosphere. The service was hit and miss. Our waiter arrived, took our drink and appetizer order, brought them to us and then disappeared for quite some time. Coming from California where Mexican food is everywhere and quite good, Don Juan was just okay. The chips were hard and overcooked, the guacamole lacked flavor, the beans and rice were average. The shrimp fajitas were quite good and the tortillas were fresh. All in all, an average meal."

  • "My husband and I, and now my family, have been dining at Don Juan for 24 years. It is the place to go for traditional as well as upscale Mexican food. I'll keep coming back!"

  • "Don Juan has consistently good food and I've been there many many times. For this specific visit, the timing of our service was off. We had not even finished our salad and our hot food came out. I wish there was a way they could pace the food coming out of the kitchen a little better. I guess it's better to have it come out faster than slower - but I'd rather not have to choose. Other than that, no complaints. I will continue to go to Don Juan."

  • "We regularly dine at Don Juan's. The food is always high quality. The specials are innovative and offer a different twist to Mexican food. It's a great neighborhood restaurant with free parking."

  • "We stood in front if the MD and were ignored. Finally, we made it to our table where we were rushed out and again ignored by the owner who hurried us out so others could be seated."

  • "Restaurant reception was very good-crowded, clean, good welcome, good atmosphere. But the food was very average. Our order came out way to quickly. Tasted like everything was prepared way ahead of time. Not what I was expecting as the place came highly recommended. "

  • "We had a group of 7, including 3 kids, and all of us had a great time. It was fairly early on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately, drink orders taken, chips and excellent salsa delivered. Deliberated over the extensive and interesting menu for a while -- the server checked on us frequently but never rushed us in the least. The four adults all enjoyed our meals very much, generous portions, excellent value. Absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend."

  • "Our service was simply outstanding and the waiter answered any questions immediately and constantly asked us how the food was and if need anything else. The food was very good along with the special made cocktails."

  • "My husband and I loved this restaurant. The food was delicious. Our food came out quickly and was affordable. The only negative was it took awhile to get water for the table and my husband asked for it and it still took awhile. Other than that everything was perfect. We'll definitely go back."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Don Juan's for 23 years and, after all this time, it is still our favorite restaurant. Mrs. Concannon and her team are welcoming and make you feel at home, like family. The food is authentic and delicious. Don Juan's is now our son's favorite restaurant and our go to place for special occasions or just when we have a taste for excellent Mexican food!"

  • "food was underwhelming. had fish tacos. felt like they had re-heated Gordon's fish sticks and put them on a corn tortillas. Lacked flavor, too, so I took some sauces from my dining partner's plate to liven up my dinner."

  • "Mole enchildas were good, but rice was overcooked and hard and beans were just ok. My wife had the arrachera and it was overcooked. My children like to eat rice and beans and even they said the beans rice and beans were just not that good. A little dissapointed in the meal. Drinks and appetizers were good."

  • "This is definitely our absolute favorite restaurant. The food is amazing! In additional to excellent traditional Mexican dishes, there is always a fresh selection of seasonal creative dishes. For salads, try the beet apple salad. For main entrees, try the daily fish special or chipotle six rubbed chicken. Carne Asada never disappoints. The service is really top-notch. The owners are always there to seat you and frequently come around to the tables and check on their guests. Did I mention the tasty margaritas? Yes! Treat yourself!"

  • "Fun place to go to celebrate family birthdays, etc. The food was good, the margaritas were outstanding, and we happen to pick a night when there was live music in the bar. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for a family friendly place to go."

  • "I consider this to be a mediocre Mexican Restaurant. It is a bit overpriced. The salsa (although free along with chips) was ok. The Margaritas were not worth $10. The guacamole, on the other hand, was great. Overall, the food was just ok. There are lots of cool bars nearby which I noted "Vibrant Bar Scene". Since there are so many amazing Mexican restaurants to choose from in Chicago, I likely will not go back, but glad I at least tried this place."

  • "Great food. We had the guacamole and it was excellent. The mango margarita was very good. I had the shrimp fajitas and would order them again. The service was great and quick. We sat outside on a beautiful summer night and it was quiet. Not sure if inside the restaurant was loud."

  • "The food, service, margaritas, everything about this restaurant is consistently fabulous. Their menu is creative and extensive, offering something for everyone. There is standard Mexican food and then there is a more upscale menu. We have had almost every item on their menu and love everything. Recently, I tried their coconut shrimp paired with skirt steak and it was out of this world, along with the soft shell crabs that my husband ordered. Their service is also wonderful- attentive without being suffocating. It is the kind of restaurant where the owner, Maria, and her staff, make you feel at home immediately. This is our go to place for every occasion or just to have a wonderful evening of the best food that will never disappoint!!!"

  • "The service was top notch and I wish I could say the food matched it. This is our third time in many years but it will have to be the last. Bland enchiladas, terrible chips, the kids meals had to be sent back and the mole was boring. Too bad but we didn't let it ruin our night."

  • "Very good, slightly unusual Mexican food. We were there on a THursday and asked for a quiet table. It was very quiet (bad weather), which I appreciated. There was live music at the bar, good and low-key."
