A word from Don Churro Cafe
Don Churro Café is a unique South American restaurant offering a perfect combination of traditional dishes, authentic flavors and Latin hospitality for the Washington Metropolitan Area.
Our menu is truly a blend of ethnic traditions that come from our mixture of culinary heritages from South America and Spain. Mainly, our menu celebrates artisanal cooking from the countries in the Andean region and reflects its amazingly rich and diverse cuisine such as Peruvian ceviche, Bolivian salteñas, Chilean empanadas, Spanish gambas al ajillo, Ecuadorian hornado, Colombian bandeja paisa and Venezuelan arepas to name a few. Our namesake churros (CHUR-OS), a delicious pastry filled with dulce de leche, nutella or served plain are one of the best in the world.
These unique and delicious dishes await you in a colorful and cozy environment decorated with Latin art. Buen Provecho!

Diner Reviews
  • "Great to watch the world cup games.! Big screen. They have special menu during the games. Food was ok, Bandeja Paisa a little bit overpriced for what you get but Overall we like it. We will be back!"

  • "I've been a lunch regular at Don Churro's for almost 4 years, but this is the first time since the new lunch menu was incorporated. I really like the lunch bowl concept of picking a protein and vegetables along with rice and extras. Best of all, they are showing World Cup games on a projector."

  • "I've eaten at Don Churro's Café several times now since 2010 but this is the first time since they re-did the menu. The food was delicious as always but there is definitely a little more variety now. I look forward to coming back soon!"

  • "We've been to this restaurant multiple times, unfortunately the service this past weekend was not good. Appetizer came out with dinner and two of the dinners came after the other dinners came out. One of the dinners came out when the rest of the party was done eating. Desert also came out separately - we ordered churros with ice cream. The ice cream came out first and was almost melted by the time the churros came out. My dinner was luke warm as well."

  • "The service was WONDERFUL and the dessert was amazing! Food was just delicious - had the chicken soup(Caldo de pollo) and potato pancakes (Papa rellena) and Chicken sandwich (Sánduche de pollo saltado) and Combination plate (Bandeja Paisa). It was a lot of food - but delicious - the dessert Churros Rellenos (nutella) was to die for...had the house Chardonnay and Cabernet - good assortment of bottled beer. My only knock is that it was a little bit loud - but it was Saturday night at dinner time and was quieting down as we left at around 8:30 - the ambiance is great - comfortable seating, good lighting, nice music. Great mix of customers - lots of couples, but we sat next to a big (well behaved) group with kids. We will return!"

  • "Great meal, friendly service, Manager took extra time to check on us knowing it was our first time and even brought us a free sample to taste something."

  • "This spot is my absolute favorite place for specialties of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and more. The food is fresh and always perfectly prepared and presented. Because of that, this is not a place you go to for a quick bite. Plan to stay awhile and enjoy their sangria. I recommend the "tostones con todo"and "arroz con pollo", but everything I have had has been delicious. Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you - this is a great spot for a nice date and an adventurous palate."

  • "We went for Valentine's Day. Don Churro is a refreshing local place not afraid to introduce different dishes. Many dishes were very tasty and artfully presented. Wait staff experienced with dishes and made good recommendations. We will definitely come back to try out more tapas and regular dishes. The musicians were talented and"

  • "If you like food - come here! My mother and I were delighted. The food was fresh, truly authentic, and beautifully presented. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. They were running some native specials for El Dia de los Muertos. Some of the Chilean dishes rivaled the quality of those we've had done in Chile, the pisco sour was beautifully done with frothy egg white (although the cinnamon addition was curious - maybe that's a Peruvian custom?), and there were some delightful surprises in the tapas we chose. I doubt you can go wrong in ordering here. Very close to Dulles airport - and I will definitely be back!"

  • "This place didn't look like much from the outside- just a storefront in a strip mall. But once inside it was charming with delicious food, great service, and warm ambiance. We shared a platter of crisp empanadas- each one from a different country's cuisine (I believe Colombian, Argentinian, and Ecuadorean). They were the lightest and crispest empanadas I'd ever had, and delicious. I had a lovely shrimp dish, and my friend had pork. For dessert we naturally had churros- filled with caramel and nutella goodness. I definitely would go here again!"

  • "We enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. The food was good and it came out quickly. The ambience leaves a little to be desired, but it's a cafe, not a fancy restaurant so who cares as long as the food is good. They have a very good selection of Latin American dishes and everything we tried was delicious. We'll be going back."

  • "we had a wonderful experience at Don Churro. The servers were very knowledgeable about how the dishes where prepared, which was important as we needed gluten free dishes. The dishes were fresh and delicious. I particularly loved the potato soup. nice to see a variety of dishes from Colombia and Ecuador to sample."

  • "Interesting, different South American food. Server's English not great. We ordered a bunch of tapas and wanted to know in what order they would come from the kitchen. But he didn't understand and it was awkward."

  • "Great restaurant and a Gem. I am very picky about my food and found that this is an authentic Latin American cuisine. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. Delicious meal. We took my parents out for their 50 wedding anniversary and they were well taken care of and made a fuss over."

  • "I was totally surprised by the quality and presentation of our meal. The atmosphere has a flavor of a local restaurant and is not overly fancy or high end, while it is not fast food or quick meal establishment. The Menu offered many South American dishes which our server was happy to explain, share, and made some excellent recomendations. Well worth the try if you want something great while trying some excellent South American dishes. Our lunch was moderately priced and well worth the visit. My next visit will be for dinner..."

  • "Each dish was freshly and especially prepared. Rosaria, our waitress, was very accomodating and encouraged us to try tasty dishes from every South American country. Our Australian friends were very impressed by this eclectic mix of food (especially the ceviche!)--all from their own hemisphere."

  • "The food was delicious. My waiter was excellent. BUT The hostess or maybe she was an assistant manager she was not professional. I am eating my food. She is given the phone right above my head where I am eating. She has a conversation on the phone with someone. So while I have my food in my hand she tries to take my plate while my sandwich is in my mouth. I just look at her like really? She attempted twice. this is because she is not even focusing on the customer she is focusing on the telephone call. She apoligizes and walks away. That type of behavior is unaceptable and rude. No one should be so unprofessional no matter how small your business is. other than that it was nice. She was just rude."

  • "Went there after reading the high reviews. Having been to South America I was expecting something different from what I received. Food was bland and over cooked. The service was lacking, only 3 other tables being served and each had their own wait staff. Just wasn't what I expected, disappointed."

  • "The atmosphere was nice, great for lunch crowds. My dish had clams, squid and mussels which were chewy. The food was on the bland side. The waitress mixed up the sauces : the mild one was actually the spicy one. It's a good thing I like spicy but it did catch me by surprise."

  • "A little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but glad I gave Don Churro's a chance. This restaurant really shines in comparison to other South American Restaurants in the northern Virginia area and in the same price range- both the service and food (taste/presentation) were very good. I had cevice (de pescado peruano), an empanada (saltena boliviana), churrasco ecuatoriano as my entree, guanabana juice (really good!) and the churros locos for desert (probably the least impressive dish of them all). A little pricey but if you are in the area give it a shot."

  • "We had a good meal overall as the Peruvian Chicken special was fantastic. We also had a couple of small plates which were just ok. Many of their options are made with a lot of potatoes and not super falvorful. The Peruvian chicken dish is the opposite as extremely flavorful and comes with rice, vegetables, and a small salad. Good beer selection as well"

  • "We went for Valentine's Day and it was our first time there, the menu items all looked so good, it was hard to decide what to order but what we got was awsome. They had live music with gypsy king type of music which I fit perfect for the food and night. The only thing that bothered us about our experience was the unorganized service, our waiter was friendly however he may have been new, he was mixing up everyone's order so we had to wait longer for our food to come out with the right order. They also took long to get water and our cocktails which we had to remind him 4 times about and each time he said it's coming yet we didn't see anyone at the bar making our drinks. After waiting 30 minutes and complaining to the manager we got it"

  • "Service was excellent - very polite and always helpfull waiter. Foos was OK, but the steak for lunch was super thin - it was flavorful, but had a lot of fat. Rice accompanying the steak was good but very dry."

  • "Food was good to fair, but for vegetarians it's just cheese and bread and potatoes. The kids' menu inexplicably had mac and cheese. I wish ethnic restaurants would just serve whatever it is kids from those countries would eat! The cheese empanada went fast, and the churros (w. chocolate and caramel sauces) were very good, making up for the other dishes. The server was super friendly, though she kept apologizing. I'm sure the numerous non-veg options are good. The atmosphere was friendly and casual, with just one TV over the bar showing soccer. It's tucked away in a strip mall, but inside the paintings and decor give you a nice respite from the traffic and shopping."

  • "Their tapas were outstanding. Authentic mohitos and nice wine list. Great menu options/variety for all family members. So happy to see the football game up on 2 big screens at the bar...visible from most tables. Great atmosphere, very cozy, and unique. I will be back...my 10 year old loved it!"
