We sure got lucky. We found this
restaurant walking on magazine near napoleon. It was early maybe 4:30-5:00 not planning on having dinner we decided to walk in and have a drink. we were surprised to learn of a happy hour with 5$ cocktails and 10$ wines with what they called a flirtation menu of small plates. We had so much fun with the bartenders ( Crystal and Ian) we stayed all night. The manager offered us a table but we were just having to much fun at the bar to leave. We will be back soon"

for a local to say it's the best
restaurant in the city is a real compliment...we are saying it every time we leave Dominique's. food, service, ambiance are all superb! DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT!!!"

Food was fantastic. Chef is not
afraid to use spice in his dishes, this was a pleasant change. I'd go back just for the ceviche. YUM. We also enjoyed the short ribs and fish special. Service was good. Atmosphere cool and artsy. Definitely recommend... if you can get a reservation."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Food was very good with the
exception of the fish, which was a little on the fishy side, but that can happen. Overall very good, will visit again soon. Drinks were very interesting and good."
Dined on 2/15/2014
It was Valentine's day and the
menu was a set predetermined one. We were a party of four with different tastes, and yet we all enjoyed all four courses. Everyone particularly liked the beef short ribs and rosemary shrimp. The service was efficient and friendly, especially on a very busy night. Would definitely recommend it to all my friends."

Started with Louisiana Oysters,
then the Beet Salad, then the Lamb Belly. Each dish was so much more wonderfully complex than just oysters, beets, and lamb."
Dined on 2/8/2014
There were a few notable
highlights here but it was much too inconsistent overall to want to go back, especially considering how many amazing restaurants are open these days. We had a very good server and some of the best beef tartare I've ever tasted, but the other employees (hostess, bartender) were aloof and the other dishes were lackluster. In particular, the fried chicken appetizer that sounded so wonderful on paper was lifeless and pale, and the duck entree was similarly ho-hum and under-seasoned. I did take the remaining duck home and, once I showered it with salt, the dish was a hit. We had a much better experience at the previous iteration of this place down the street. And what happened to getting cotton candy with the check?"
Dined on 2/8/2014
Expectations Were High, But The
Dishes Were So Amazing My Companion And I Found Ourselves Unable To Carry On A Conversation Due To The Frequent Need To Pause To Taste. The Beef Tartar, Oysters And Lobster SalAd Were Especially Notable. Lamb Belly And The Flounder Were Both Well Presented."

First, the restaurant is long and
narrow. two top tables - someone faces a brick wall -mirrors on them but placed so high they are useless. The tables are also so long that you are too far away from your dinner companion that all sense of intimacy is impossible. But the manager heard we were unhappy from the waiter and turned the table sideways and we both sat on the banquette. Kudos to the server and manager. We loved the noise. Makes dining exciting. Foie Gras was delicious. The crouton under was soggy. The Cobia dish with pappardelle was totally bland. The baked oysters were just ok. A little soggy. Duck confit tasty but the greens bland. The panacotta was delicious. Nice wine list. We enjoyed the Protea wines from S Africa"

Food is excellent: creative w
local emphasis. Smart decor. Noise level very high."

Dominique's was great in every
way. Great ambiance, food, and service. Our server Hailey was Amazing. The outdoor area Of restaurant was beautiful and stylish. Would definitely return."

Dominique has had several
incarnations in New Orleans, and this is by far the best. The food is inventive without being pretentious and really tastes good! The restaurant is beautiful albeit a little noisy but really a fun night out ! The service is somewhat distracted and scattered but eventually you get your food/drinks! It's worth it . Make a reservation today as in my opinion it's the hottest ticket in New Orleans right now."
Dined on 1/10/2014
This is a restaurant where the
entrees are a surprise when compared to the appetizers. M we had three dishes at the table including the duck and the spaghetti and meatballs. They were all outstanding in their own way and we could not pick a favorite. The goat cheese desert was a surprise as it was not too sweet and slightly savory. We wii be returning."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Since we there on New Years' Eve
with a menu fixe. We will return on a regular night to savoe their other delights."
Dined on 12/31/2013
The food was great and so was the
service. But it was so overwhelmingly noisy that the wait staff couldn't hear us without getting very close, and we couldn't talk to each other without shouting. Really loud. The patrons nearby were shouting, making it worse, and we really couldn't blame them--what choice did they have? for that reason, we may not go back (unless we can sit outside)."
Dined on 12/30/2013
Food was delicious. For some
reason service did not match the kitchen. Lots of waitstaff running around, but it took 15 minutes for them to realize we were seated."
Dined on 12/14/2013
Very nice place on the inside in a
very cool/hip part of town along Magazine Street. The wine list is fantastic although I didn't go with wine the night I went. Ordered three dishes. Started with the raw oysters covered in a creamy/tangy sauce. Amazing. Definetely the best thing I ate at this meal. Highly recommended. Second was an arugala and roasted tomato salad with a lite dressing. This was good and light. The main dish was the cobia. Complete let down. Fish was a bit overdone. Funny, there are very very few restaurants that really know how to cook fish. Being overdone is so common. I just don't understand. The flavor was ok, but the dish was a let down. My buddy had the duck and wasn't too impressed. Said it was too fatty."
Dined on 12/11/2013
I usually give a restaurant a
couple of months to work out the "kinks" before dining there. But Martinique opened in my neighborhood within walking distance, so we went for an early dinner shortly after the place opened. The staff was friendly and helpful, and, for the most part, seemed to have experience in the industry. Nevertheless, you could tell that they were still finding their way. The only major malfunction was that the kitchen picked up the signal too early and sent out the entree while we were still enjoying our appetizer and finishing our cocktail. The server apologized right away and corrected the situation. I'm running out of characters, so I'll just say that the food was very good and we'll be back soon."
Dined on 6/6/2013
We tried this place on Saturday
night. The food was fantastic, with all sorts of interesting takes on Louisiana classics. The restaurant itself is lovely, the outdoor space looks beautiful but it was too cold to sit outside the night we were there."
Dined on 12/7/2013
This was a fabulous experience!
Bar is small but has a great selection, and interesting house created cocktails. The food was outstanding. The service was almost French service, despite a more casual atmosphere-a really great touch. And normally I don't like TVs in restaurants of this caliber, but it was a night with an important football game, so it was a nice perk! I have been here before and it was really good, but it seems to have gotten even better."
Dined on 12/7/2013
As a local I was extremely excited
to see the relocation of this gem. Has some of the best food in the city. Easily in the upper echelon of our dinning options. Every aspect of the experience is to shelf. This is one not to be missed."
Dined on 12/5/2013
The first thing that will hint
that you are in a special place is the exterior and interior of this "gem" of a restaurant. It is sheik and extremely well decorated. The greeter exuded the hospitality of a close friend and welcome our request to have a tour of the well appointed restaurant. Our waiter was extremely helpful and well trained in all aspects of fine dining. The wine is very impressive and will match any diners budget and taste. And the food was excellent! The fish was fresh as was all of the other dishes that we enjoyed. For those of you that enjoy a very good bread, you will be very pleased. Set in an area with a lot of activity you will be pleased by their off street parking!"
Dined on 12/5/2013
the food and the service were out
standing, and our waiter paired our meal with a very nice wine. we are looking forward to our next visit."
Dined on 11/29/2013
The service was excellent! And,
the food was excellent. Nice decor. Really like the vertical herb gardens. Glad to see they have a happy hour special. That will be fun to do after work once in a white! And, the patios will be the scene for happy hour during nice weather!"
Dined on 11/30/2013
New Orleans has a plethora of good
restaurants to choose from and I would place Dominique's at the top of the list. Chef Dominique presents unusual dishes that peak one's culinary curiosity, dishes such as crisp lamb belly served with white beans and kale, and an octopus and flounder ceviche that was divine! We also tried the shrimp ceviche which had great citrus flavor with overtones of heat. Our waiter prepared a lovely tea for me with fresh lemons and peppermint, such a beautiful aroma! And such a nice personal touch. The ambiance, with a modern flair to the decor, was relaxing yet quite interesting. Dominique's has a lovely outside courtyard for dining in good weather which we almost always have in New Orleans. We can't wait to go back!"
Dined on 11/19/2013
The food and service were very
good. The noise level was loud. Loved the patio"
Dined on 11/16/2013
The food was ( I can't think of an
adjective high enough to use so I will resort to) Outstanding. Service was great! atmosphere wonderful! This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans, and that is saying something."
Dined on 11/9/2013
I was excited to bring our out of
town guests to Dominiques on Magazine after a previous visit in March 2013 left us with the impression that it was an exciting hip place with great food. However, this time, the food was uninspiring...I was surprised at how little the menu had changed. Our guests commented many times at how loud it was. Sorry...really wanted it to be a special occasion restaurant I would return to, but now I probably wont."
Dined on 11/2/2013
Dominique's on Magazine is the
whole package -- and more! Reminds me of a hip LA restaurant (without the snobbery factor) but with the fabulous cuisine that makes the great New Orleans restaurants unique AND with service that is "Brennan like" in its perfection. The cocktail list is outstanding (maybe a little heavy on gin drinks -- which seems to be the trend everywhere --WHY???) as is the wine list ..... Shrimp cerviche, cobia, spaghetti & meatballs (brown gravy) are awesome and last night I had sauteed soft shell crab that was so good -- I caused a scene! Also, love the signature green apple cotton candy! No, I don't work there, we just love to go out to eat and absolutely love DOM and it is one of our new favs"
Dined on 10/31/2013
The place has a great vibe, our
waiter seemed to have had too much chicory coffee as he was wired and spouted the oddest line I may have ever heard to describe a dish. "The beet salad is---fiberous" After he left I asked if I had indeed heard that right----hello? The meal was very nice and though I enjoyed it, it isn't a must-return on our next jaunt to Nawlins."
Dined on 10/8/2013
Delightful restaurant with modern
upbeat decor, friendly and professional staff. Food was excellent with right sized portions and plated well. I would recommend the restaurant as a good choice to get away from the Quarter. Noise level a bit high but not over the top. A repeater."
Dined on 10/17/2013
Waited for at least 15 minutes to
get get drink order. Bar needed more help. The appetizers were excellent, but the entrees were so-so. For example, the cobra entree, while cooked properly, was pretty bland. Too many hard surfaces that help amplify the noise level. Table cloths would serve several purposes. Improve the ambience, help attenuate the noise level and prevent "sweat" from cold cocktails from dripping on ones shirt and silverware from sliding around the table. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable."
Dined on 10/12/2013
Despite the few negative reviews
we found no reason not to praise the chef and servers at Dominique's. we were lucky to get the end table along the wall which may have helped the talked about noise level, we did not experience any of that. We started with the fois gras and the wagu steak tartare which were both excellent. We followed up the perfectly cooked soft shell crabs on a bed of intensely delicious corn mixture. The wine and cocktails were up to snuff as well. Bravo! We loved the atmosphere which was studied with an architects eye, the server was most professional , not a complaint from us."
Dined on 10/5/2013
The food is very good, as
expected, but with all of those hard surfaces everywhere, it was almost impossible to have conversation. The minimalist all white decor creates a very chic space, but from a practical standpoint it wasn't a comfortable place to linger. Maybe that's the point and possibly the noise level contributed to that. Anyway, the food is good but the science of restaurant decor/space planning missed its mark, in my opinion. I think it would work better for me as a lively place for lunch if they ever decide to open for lunch."
Dined on 9/29/2013
the food was godd but the ceviche
had way too much lime in it almost not eatable. the duck breast was excellent and the cooking was perfect. we ordered a very good bootle of wine but the waiter was never around, so we had to pour our own wine. I know it sounds a pit prisdy but ine should expect more in term of service. Also. the ambiance would be even better if there would not be a tv showing a football game and also please dime the light a little."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Dining at Dominique's is a unique
experience. The decor is ultramodern including the projections of moving images on the walls and unique layout. It also offers outside dining and lounge seating in a special courtyard. Their Mixologist has created a number of unique and delicious cocktails and their menu features dishes that you would not find in other restaurants in the New Orleans area. They offer dishes including Wagyu beef (American Kobi) as well as seafood and pasta items with unique flavor combinations. They also offer comfortable seating for both small and large groups. The noise level is tolerable though you know you're at a popular restaurant when dining there."
Dined on 9/22/2013
As last spring. I was hoping for a
change as we had gone many months ago. That being said- the food was still right on. Beef tartare was outstanding; oysters were delicious. My cobia was a little overcooked, but the pappardelle was delicate and fresh. The soft shell crab special was full-flavored and delicious. Still love it!"
Dined on 9/19/2013
Such a beautiful restaurant,
thankfully removed from the sameness of the French Quarter. Imaginative cocktails, beautifully prepared food, and attentive service made for a night to remember with good friends. I will definitely return!"
Dined on 9/21/2013
What a wonderful experience. Food
flavorful, great recommendation on wine and service impeccable. Great place for a group of 10, or just an intimate party."
Dined on 9/18/2013
This restaurant has a parking lot.
This is rare for the area. Makes parking stress free. Staff is very professional and friendly. The staff is able to give personalized service without feeling overbearing."
