DomenicaGreat food for a steal!Domenica is part of chef John Besh's restaurant group in NOLA. The food was really delicious--even by New Orleans' standards--and the prices very reasonable. Yes, the restaurant had loads of tourists but the gorgeous lobby of the historic Roosevelt Hotel offset that.
Service was wonderful. Favorite dish was the fried kale!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is very good. However,The food is very good. However, the portions are small given the high prices.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love their happy hour!We love their happy hour! All pizzas 1/2 price! Great deal....plus their roasted cauliflower is to die for! Dessert was pistachio pie and banana cake because we couldn't decide on just one.....blew my mind......I love this place!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAre You Kidding? It was amazing. The Carrot Pizza is my favorite but everything is wonderful.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in a food cityRecently visited New Orleans for the first time. Dined on some oysters, gumbo and jambalaya. All were good but the fresh ricotta appetizer and then the pizza at this restaurant were out of this world good. Put your crawfish down and get to this restaurant for at least one meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cauliflower is amazingWent to Domenica right as it opened at 11 on a Saturday. Service was fantastic, though there were only 4 other tables total while we ate.
In a city known for amazing food Domenica delivered. The pizza's are thin crispy and perfectly topped with a variety of traditional and unique items. The cauliflower was even better, a whole headed literally soaked in butter and Parmesan and roasted so that it practially fell apart. I highly recommend it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite place for happy hour!Favorite place for happy hour! Half off wine, beer, wells and PIZZAS 3-6pm everyday.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSingle dinerI felt very comfortable dining alone. Good wine list available by the glass. The food was unique and very flavorful. I had an arugula and roasted beet salad, perfectly dressed with a citrus vinegarette. Many entrees looked inviting but i chose pizza with roasted pork shoulder, fennel and bacon. Beautiful thin crust with just the right amount of char. I could only manage to eat half of it, (had to save room for the amazing banana dessert) but the doorman at my hotel enjoyed the rest. Be sure to walk thru the lobby of the beautifully restored Roosevelt hotel after dinner.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMhouse cured meatsthe salami and savory beignet starter was one of the best things i've ever eaten.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingDomenica was a fantastic restaurant. We like excellent food, well prepared with great service and Domenica delivers on every level. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The menu had something for everyone and he was happy to have us order a couple of appetizers and salad and dessert. The food was delicious ;I had short ribs and they were beautifully cooked and I also had the affrogato for dessert which was amazing. The wine by the glass was poured generously-I had a Prosecco-and my predinner whiskey sour was as well. I was as little apprehensive about booking Domenica;too often in NYC where I live, restaurants like this are full of self important "foodies" who actually know nothing about food or wine-but this was not at all5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA GemWe thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - excellent flavors, wonderful choices, excellent waitstaff. My husband had the short ribs which he loved - he almost would not give me a bite - he wanted to savor every bit of the dish. I had the most superb appetizer with three choices from the appetizer list - each one better than the last.
Make a reservation; go; enjoy a wonderful evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDomenica dinnerWe have eaten at domenica at least 6 times during our visits to New Orleans and have never been disappointed!!!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceWe loved the menu! We started with the Salumi selections - very impressive! followed by salads and entrees of the house made squid ink pasta with blue crab, and the rabbit and porcini tagliatelle. Everything was so tasty!
Our waitress, Annie was very knowledgeable about the food and wine. and helped us with wine pairings.
We look forward to our next trip to New Orleans and Domenica!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Love this place. Super creative menu - but something for everyone. Most interesting and bets Octopus Carpaccio I have ever had.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!Favorite place for happy hour! Half off wine, beer, wells and PIZZAS 3-6pm everyday.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommend the lamb meatballRecommend the lamb meatball pizza. Slightly spicy, but not excessive. Very good dollops of cheese. Also recommend the wild mushroom pizza, probably the better of the two. The bread serves with chili-infused oil is exceptional. We want to try some of the non-pizza options that looked good, but had no room. It will have to wait for another visit. We can't wait.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and creative food.Everything we had was unique and delicious. The roasted cauliflower is incredible. We also had the Burrata appetizer which was out-of-this-world.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, my favorite placeAs always, my favorite place for business lunch in new Orleans.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBold Flavors and ButterWe liked everything we ordered more than my 3-star rating would suggest. Special sighs of surprised satisfaction for the roasted cauliflower, a whole succulent head lightly charred on the surface. Squid ink pasta had a pleasant pungency. The duck and mascarpone pizza was rich and intense with a lovely crisp crust. I took a star off, however, because of too-heavy use of butter in the veggies and pasta. By the end of the meal my stomach felt like a bowling ball. Another off note: Weirdest Cocktail Ever! Maybe the magic-potion-evoking name ("Drink This Cup") should have tipped me off, but ingredients sounded good. The bold flavors just didn't work here. Too much ginger? I'd go back but probably stick to the slightly overpriced wines.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOn business in NOLA I enjoyedOn business in NOLA I enjoyed a meal at Luke and was told the chef also had a great Italian place, so 2 days later I tried it. We had a great table by the window, and our group of 3 shared the cauliflower appetizer (huge, essentially a whole head of cauliflower and an amazing sauce served on the side), the octopus carpaccio (lighter, also excellent), and 3 pizzas (one for each). We also shared a dessert. The pizzas were delicious - similar in style to those I've had in Italy. Annie the server was also extremely good - sweet and advised us quite accurately on the menu. The chef came to the table to ask about our meal. The food and service greatly exceeded my expectations for the price point. I would definitely return if I lived here!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'd never know it was aYou'd never know it was a hotel restaurant. Food was great, all 6 of us loved what we ordered, and they pour a good cocktail. Service was good, too. It is, noisy, though. It's a big room.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMfabulous meal, salumi, pizza, fabulous meal, salumi, pizza, and pasta all great!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat happy hour deal! The Domenica happy hour is great! Started out with one pizza (half off!) and had to order another because it was so delicious. Our waitress was incredibly kind (I believe her name was Andrea?) and attentive even though she was noticeably pretty busy. I have eaten at Domenica twice before and thought the food was a bit too salty but am glad that I gave it another chance - much better experience the third time around.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food choices and greatGreat food choices and great food. When back in New Orleans I would definitely consider returning to Dominica.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pizzas and appetizers!Great pizzas and appetizers! Casual and fun atmosphere.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious. PizzasAbsolutely delicious. Pizzas are incredible. Noise level is beginning to crossover from being energetic to annoying.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI always enjoy this resturant.I always enjoy this resturant. The burrata appetizer was wonderful!!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing and theThe food was amazing and the service was above average. Would definitely visit again.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie Girls DinnerEnjoyed a "girls night out" dinner at Domenica. Started with a delicious salumni / cheese platter and creative craft cocktails. The cured meats and house made accompaniments were served with savory beignets, a nice New Orleans touch. We then shared a generous sized pizza and a small pasta dish. All wonderful!
Wine list a little limited but our selections were very good.
Service was very good. They did not rush us but allowed our meal to unfold at OUR pace.
Only less than perfect aspect was the noise level. The restaurant has lots of hard surfaces and very tall ceilings. Perfect atmosphere for sound bouncing.
All in all a wonderful evening. I will definitely recommend and return.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVeggees never tasted so goodOur best meal in NOLA (and that says something.) The roasted cauliflower was the best! Inside a fabulous refurbished landmark hotel as well.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a treat in a city whereWhat a treat in a city where food and drink are king. The waitress really made us feel special and informed about what to order and how much! Hope to visit again soon.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique dishes that will notUnique dishes that will not disappoint. The Cauliflower appetizer was very unique and incredibly good-- and I am always very skeptical of vegetables. Pizza is unique and phenomenal-- they do it right. Our table shared 3 desserts-- they were all excellent. Eat here and you will not be disappointed.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Pre-Opera Dinner OptionFood and service were very good. Love the Rustic bread with crusty exterior; cauliflower appetizer is huge, definitely big enough to share. Rabbit & Porcini Tagliatelle was excellent, as was the Grilled Branzino Fish, and the Roasted Goat shakshouka style. A 5:45pm rez gave ample time for dining before heading to the Opera, and the noise level was not as loud as it sometimes is later in the evening.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIntriguing menu that deliversDuck and sweet potato pizza is fantastic and just one of many items that made our dinner delicious and fun. Our wait staff understood the rare balance of attentive without hounding us such that we felt rushed. And to every comment we made about a dish, she was knowledgable about the ingredients and preparation -- like the roasted cauliflower with whipped goat and feta cheeses. It's so yummy I'm tempted to try at home but I'd rather just plan another dinner here to explore the menu again.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA great location and excellentA great location and excellent food. It's perfect to meet a small party at the Sazarac Bar and then move to Domenica for dinner.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Service. OneGreat Food and Service. One of the best happy hours around. The pizza was outstanding and you can't beat the price during happy hour. The dinner menu had great selections. My wife had a delicious Branzino fish and the Lasagna Bolognese was fantastic.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMake a point to eat at Domenica!Great location in the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria Hotel adjacent to the business district in downtown New Orleans. Service was great. Food outstanding. The Carrot. Brussels Sprouts etc pizza was outstanding. Still thinking a out it along with the roasted cauliflower and the kale. WOW!
Reservations are a very good idea. It's a busy place but they are prompt with seating people with reservations. We ate there 3x in 3 days! Thank goodness we took the advice of our server and shared the items as the portions were generous! All of the food was excellent but the bread and the pizza were exceptional! The crust was light and tender and the toppings were very fresh. The pizza was so good that we returned during Happy Hour for half price pizza and drinks! The pizza was by far the best pizza we have ever had (and we are pizza snobs)!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Dominica and will return. We also stopped by in the early afternoon, as we were staying at the Roosevelt, for a late lunch and, while the dinner was excellent, we found that the pizza we had that afternoon was truely outstanding. We split three pizzas and had more than enough to eat among the four of us. They were featuring a Passover meal that night that looked wonderful, but we needed to go somewhere after so did not have the time to savor that.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery much enjoyed the PassoverVery much enjoyed the Passover meal.
