Diner Reviews
  • "This was our first visit to Domenica - - it's now our favorite John Besh restaurant. Cocktail menu was excellent - full of unique beers and beverages. Strawberry bellini's were delcious. Salumi plate featured unusual cheeses and meats - a good value. Gnocchi was perfectly cooked and was richly flavored. Lasagne featured spinach pasta and was hearty and beefy. The anchovy pizza was spicy and flavorful, surprisingly not over-anchovied. Banana Zuppa was meh - nothing special. Server had too many tables but was super friendly and helpful and apologized for the delays. Still the people watching made our meal enjoyable during the waits. Excellent food - - we had a great time."

  • "Everything I've had here is very good. If you want Pizza, it's probably the best in New Orleans. Appetizers - Roasted Cauliflower is delicious, but huge. It should be shared unless you are having that as your meal. Lamb Bolognese with tahini crostini, was fabulous! Pasta - Rabbit and Porcini Mushroom Pasta; hearty and flavorful! Main Course - I had the Goat which was served in a skillet which was served with an assortment of roasted vegetables and an egg in the middle; it looked like something you would get maybe in Morocco; it was Excellent! Dessert - Can't remember the name, but I had an almond cake with local strawberries.... not too sweet or heavy; the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Go with friends who like to Share! "

  • "First of all, fantastic service. Everyone was warm and inviting and truly knowledgeable about the menu (not just reciting a memorized shtick). Hand made pastas were all great as was the charcuterie. A truly memorable meal in a town full of great resturants."

  • "We've go to Domenica every visit to New Orleans. It's a wonderful place to break from the fried/creamed/etc. food found in so much of the area. The pizza, deserts, etc. are wonderful and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!"

  • "I've dined at Domenica for a variety of occasions (or no occasion at all). I'm always very pleased with each dish. I primarily go for the Happy Hour specials.. it's always a great deal, and I can enjoy all the food and drink without bill anxiety. I will definitely be back. "

  • "Although pizza is one of the main menu items, don't be fooled this is no pizza joint. The pasta selections are excellent and the wine list vast. I highly recommend for a romantic evening out or a family event."

  • "Had one of the best meals of my life at domenica for passover last year but this year it was very disappointing. Our meal was rushed and disorganized as we received our starter and first course together within 5-10 minutes of sitting down, the soup was less than hot and it took another 20 minutes before we could get someone's attention to order drinks. Our waiter was clearly trying but difficult to get a hold of and whenever I did something about his demeanor made me uneasy. Maybe it's that the meal was so rushed but the food this year was definitely a step down from last year. From the cold soup to the chewy fish it was a real disappointment for a meal that was intended to celebrate a special occasion. "

  • "Domenica is where I take my friends who just visit New Orleans. We get the kale, the cauliflower and then a main dish or two to share. This has been a favorite of mine and all of my friends. Definitely go."

  • "We went for domenica's happy hour and couldn't have been happier with the pizza or the prices. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and the crowd didn't start to come in until 6 at which point we were finished. We're definitely returning!"

  • "One of the best meals of our recent trip. Service was helpful yet not overbearing. The burrata was spectacular. "

  • "1st time was really great. However, 2nd time was very disappointing. Did not have some of the menu items as 1st time. The same menu items (clam pizza, salad) were fair at best. They do not have beers on tap and the dessert was nothing special. New Orleans is a great place for wonderful cuisine. Unfortunately Domenica will not make the list for my next trip to New Orleans."

  • "This was our second meal at Domenica in two days. Not normally a fan of John Besh restaurants this one is totally different. Food was excellent. The cheese and salumi plate was absolutely delicious - fresh cheeses and meats - out of the ordinary selections. We had two entree pizzas, the mushroom and the prosciutto. The mushroom was my favorite - - cheesy and hearty - almost like meat. The prosciutto was good but the greens were a little too fresh for my liking. Skillet cake was over-rated and over-priced but still delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful and the people watching was great. Fantastic ambiance - great lighting and comfortable tables. Lots of fun."

  • "I love the pizza. I think about it constantly and, as such, often find myself here for salad and pizza or cauliflower and pizza. The bread is also incredible. The service is somewhat hit or miss. There are some incredibly attentive servers and some that simply seem disengaged or inexperienced (or both). The place has great ambience and is a wonderful choice for later night dining and drinking. You really cannot go wrong."

  • "OMG Previewing the menu prior to eating it seemed a bit confusing. Once we were seated and talked about what we wanted to eat and then seeing other diners get there orders the menu made more sense. We had the aruguloa, beet, pinenut salad to start, then a small portion of the chicken liver oxtail with the housemade spinach pappadrel (spelling) noodles, then the whitee pizza, All of this was melt in your mouth, gourmet quality. Will always go there at least once whenever we go to NO. Waiter was fantastic especially since the place was packed and he had lots of full tables to handle, but didn't miss a beat. Thank Chef Besh for venturing into Italy."

  • "We had a very good meal, but the service was a bit slow and not terribly attentive. Even though we made reservations in advance, we were seated directly in front of the wait staff service area. This meant that they were walking behind us and reaching over and around us during the meal. Not the best. It is quite loud. That was fine for us, but not good for conversation if you had a larger group or anyone with difficulty hearing."

  • "We loved Domenica. Our server, Ryan, was terrific and the food was AMAZING! We had the mushroom pizza and quite honestly, probably the best pizza I've ever eaten. We also shared the cauliflower. Who knew that cauliflower could be this good? The desserts were also fantastic. I'm from Los Angeles and wish there was a Domenica near where we live."

  • "Dining room was bright and loud, thought the wine we chose was somewhat overpriced. We shared the antipasti chef's choice and the red fish entree and both were very good. A good choice and convenient if you're staying at the Roosevelt and would like to dine in rather than going out. Otherwise there are other restaurants in New Orleans that I would prefer."

  • "Loved the Prosciotto Pizza and Fried Tuscan Kale. However, service was terrible. It took over 15 mins to get a wine list. Another 15 mins for waiter to come by to take order. He apologized for delay and said he would go get it immediately. Then went to table of 12 to take their order. Finally came back to our table (with wrong bottle of wine). By this time we were in the restaurant 45 mins. This is totally unacceptable. Luckily the food was worth the wait. Pizza is delicious, maybe we should just get take out next time and avoid the agravation. We will give it another try, hopefully this type of service isn't the norm."

  • "Dinner for Two Three cheese plate - Good, the pepper jelly was awesome Bolzano Pizza- Lacked flavor. Meat was dehydrated dry and it looked like they forgot the rest of the toppings. Gnocchi - Ok, good flavor but some of the gnocchi was melt in your mouth and some was very tough. Service - This was the real let down. Our waitress had a real attitude. She was very short with us and seemed to be upset that we didn't order more food than what we did. All in all, expected more from a John Besh restaurant."

  • "We eat here every time we come to NOLA. Our favorites are the Margarhita and Calabrese pizza. The wines that we have had have complimented the food nicely as well as being drinkable without food. The pizza crust is just unbelievably good and the bread is so fresh. All in all it is a memorable and fun dining experience. We will be back this fall to see the Saints win. Who Dat?"

  • "Loved the Roosevelt Hotel, however I ordered the wrong dish. Have decided I will never again even try any kind of fried chicken. It sounded good with rice flour ( gluten free was good for me). It did not seem crispy and I will never eat fried chicken again - I can not get into the skin. The mix of orange rind, sweet, with rosemary just did not work for me. Pizza looked good, however no gluten free crust. Service was good, not spectacular."

  • "I went here twice over the weekend - Saturday for happy hour with friends, and Sunday for lunch with my family. Happy hour had half-off prices on their pizzas and wine/beer/certain cocktails. My three friends and I shared the proscuitto pizza, roasted cauliflower, and pork pastry appetizer (name?). All were delicious! The service was great - drinks kept coming and we didn't wait long for our food. On Sunday, I had lunch with my husband and 2 teens. We were starving - we had the white pizza and the Quattro fromagio pizza, and the roasted cauliflower for appetizer. I was surprised that my kids liked the cauliflower! The goat cheese sauce was perfect dip for it. Everything was great - nice change from the typical NOLA cuisine"

  • "This was my second trip to NOLA and my second visit to Domenico! The wine and beer selection is satisfactory and affordable. The menu offerings are unique and every dish my family and I have tried have been excellent. Try any one of the pizzas ... crispy crust and creative topping combinations make Domenico pizza the best! Service is excellent and friendly."

  • "Best Happy Hour in NOLA. Make a reservation and enjoy a late afternoon treat or two! Our typical bill is around $32-36 and that is for a pizza, couple glasses of wine, couple beers, and we usually splurge on a dessert because it is soooo worth it!!!"

  • "Am a local- This is one of those restaurants that' always on the local food forums, we just never got around to it - thought we would give it a try before the Opera. We were certainly surprised. It's all one large dining room/bar, completely open. Large, ugly room. When we went (6:15), it was filled with 30-35 y.o. crowd; extremely loud and boisterous. Place smelled like burnt pizza from the time you walked in until left. We were completely over dressed and stood out; the majority of patrons were in jeans or shorts. On line looks upscale, in person, it's just a fancy pizza parlor. Wine list easily 25% more expensive than other restaurants. So - noisy, unattractive, limited menu, quite pricey for what it actually offers. Avoid."

  • "First of all, happy hour (seven days a week) is what makes it easy for us to frequent this place, with half off pizza, wine, beer. It's close proximity to the Smoothie King Arena makes it a choice spot for us before Pelicans games, and we enjoy the short walk. My advice to anyone is don't be afraid to try anything on the menu - they know what they're doing, and I haven't tasted anything yet that I didn't like."
