Domaine Chandon - Etoile RestaurantL'Etoile has no Michelin Star.L'Etoile has no Michelin Star. However, from what we have experienced, it is worth at least two!!!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Lunch! My wife and i had a fantastic lunch at eToile! Anthony our waiter was the best! He was helpful with food suggestions and wine pairings, plus he gave us suggestions on which wineries to visit later in day. I had the lunch tasting menu. It is pricey but worth it! Chef Perry is an artist and genius! The food was excellent to look at and taste!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dining on our last night! We finally ate dinner at Domaine Chandon on our last night in Napa Valley and dinner did not disappoint. First, arriving and walking to the restaurant is an unforgettable experience in that the grounds are lovely. The restaurant is impeccably appointed, I loved the crisp decor and linens. The windows looking out to the gardens were a great way to bring the outdoors in... Then, dinner was amazing! While there is a large price tag, it is an experience to remember. We started with oysters on the half shell and it was all up from there. The yellowfin tuna shashimi was outstanding. The duck was extremely good also. Dessert was amazing. And, we have developed a new appreciation for sparkling wines, can't wait for our first shipment! ;-)6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood: 10 Service: 6 Darn it!1. We were celebrating a dear friend's 97th birthday. 2. With old age certain things should be evident: dietary restrictions (advised staff when first seated) 3. Timing: older folks don't need a 4 hour experience, they're lucky to have gotten this far! 4. Always bus the table before presenting the next course so the guests don't have to move the plates to accommodate the server! 5. Just because they're old, doesn't mean they need a nap between courses...real delays between the two main courses (seafood, meat). 6. The restaurant went overboard with fantastic extras which really wowed us. We should have advised staff not to do this, a 4 hour dinner for people that old isn't fun when the guest has to stand up because her leg was asleep!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSUPERB, EXQUISITEMy hat goes off for this young creative chef. Best restaurant I have ever eaten, and I have been to many very good restaurants. This is my favorite.
Every dish was so beautiful and tasty. He uses the molecular technique. I made a picture of each dish.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat mealthe price fix was great but it is alot of food
wines are very reasonable in price
The food was very creative
Next time I would order only two of the four courses ; which would be plenty to eat6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMappetizersan elaborate appetizer menu would be helpful - the lunch portions are small, modest
and perhaps a shrimp cocktail or oyesters, or crostini would be perfect ahead of time.
although an elaborate dessert menu is provided (although not needed for lunch! BUT yummy!)6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you love food, this is the placeI just love this restaurant. Been many times over the past 30 years and I have NEVER been disappointed. Its a place I take my good friends to dine and enjoy a meal. The food is always wonderful and the wine is always special. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA Perfectly Lovely LunchThree of us oldies went for lunch and had a stellar experience. Second visits for all of us. The food and presentations are simply wonderful. The food was delicious and fun to eat --virtual bouquets on the plate. We had to ask what a couple of things were -- little bits of greens new to us and unusual and tasty reductions. The duck liver mousse was a standout, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss the crab salad and the salmon. We had a table outside and the surroundings are peaceful and quiet and beautiful. Service is knowledgeable and professional. We were able to have an actual conversation, which is a big reason for us to dine out together, without yelling across the table or being hounded with "how is it" questions. We'll go again.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, but expensiveExcellent food, service, and setting, but quite expensive. I would do it least once, though.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable service, Delicious foodWent for lunch on the Saturday of Memorial Weekend
The food was a 10 out of 10, the service was a 10 out of 10 as well

Did the tasting menu and it was worth every penny. delicious.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Pure DelightMy dinner at Etoile was the perfect ending to a lovely day in Napa. I was very impressed by the kind and attentive service and the quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the dining room. We indulged in the tasting menu and every course was a pure delight. Thank you for a delicious and memorable evening!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful location and grounds.Beautiful location and grounds. We went for lunch, and were seated ouside, on a lovely terrace. I loved the ambience. We had the a la carte menu. Crab salad was good, duck pate had an aftertaste. Beef and fish entrees were both very good. We shared a molten chocolate cake dessert which was delicious. Bread was OK. Service was good, but I expected better. Water was not refilled quickly, and a refill of coffee was never offered.
The condition of the ladies's room was poor, and the area outside smelled. It is a high traffic area, serving the restaurant, the shop, and the wine bar. The floor was scattered with paper towels. There were no toilet seat covers, and very little toilet paper. A real disappointment in an otherwise lovely setting.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful afternoon in wine countryour party of four had the chef's tasting menu and it was absolutely wonderful. one said it was the best meal she ever had, and this is from someone who has been all over the world. So - world-class dining!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant and Romantic SettingThe setting is beautiful, with lovely gardens for pre-dinner walks. The reception and wait staff are attentive, professional and do a fabulous job. The dining facility is extremely well suited for intimate and elegant dining The facility layout is lovely, creating space and a casual elegance, yet not overdone. The food was beautifully presented and proportions were perfect. The menu was lovely, with the only single drawback I found was that some of the items on the menu seemed like they could have had a touch more seasoning to render them mouth-watering/savory. For the price, I recommend it for a romantic dinner/small group dinner, especially if you want a beautiful dining space, fantastic wait staff, and elegant food presentation.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHad Mother's Day Lunch here.Had Mother's Day Lunch here. Food was wonderful and service was excellent. Had the wine pairing with our lunch which was fabulous. We sat on the patio and the view of the lawn area was very nice and relaxing. Would definately return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMwhy ask...of course it was greatFor mother's day this was the most special place to be! We had a lovely lunch. Sorry to say, the word lovely doesn't work..really ...lunch was over the top. It was as the french say "exceptionnel" It will cost you a little more money, but well worth it.
If you want a lovely anniversary dinner or special birthday dinner ..this is the place. Do leave the little ones at home with the sitter, because they will not be welcomed by the couple who will have the pleasure of sitting next to you. You know what I mean...this a dinning experience! Enjoy! Will be back for husbands birthday, my birthday, father's day....etc..etc...5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThis was a special Mother's Day Brunch and location. Food and service was exceptional and waiter Brandon especially thoughtful and attentive.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingGo for the chef's course if you can. Each course is lovely both in looks and taste. They look deceivingly small, but you'll be pleasantly full. The courses keep coming for about four hours, so make sure to get a bottle of Chandon bubbly and enjoy!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMUnder-appreciated Napa Valley GemWe've eaten at Etoile on several occasions and have always had an excellent meal. I'm surprised, therefore, that the restaurant isn't busier. This particular Friday was before Mother's day, so perhaps that was the reason. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend Etoile as a great alternative to the French Laundry. Not as famous; not as fussy, but excellent food, and much much easier to book a reservation. The wine list is quite good, though we usually bring wine, and then buy a local sparkling wine to start with. The waitstaff is friendly but not intrusive.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe absolute best dining experienceHuge fan of etoile, always impeccable service and indescribable food prepared by chef Perry Hoffman.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMquestion mark?i'm not quite sure what all the food items were on my plates, but whatever they were, they were delicious. it was the first time I'd had ramps. very nice. a very memorable 45th anniversary lunch with my husband.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great wine inGreat food, great wine in one of my favorite settings in Napa Valley. Stopped by early for a bit of a tasting, sitting on the terrace enjoying the day, followed by an excellent dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe quality and preparationThe quality and preparation of the food was excellent. The service was very good. The prices were high compared to other similar restaurants.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPremiere dining experience. The setting, the service and the presentation were all top notch. Great to celebrate a special occasion or to make one!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEtoile was like magic.I am new to fine dining, though I went with someone who is very experienced. It was wonderful, definitely the best meal and dining experience I ever had. We had six courses with wine pairings, which were also delicious. I loved the variety of foods and ingredients that Chef Hoffman put together. Each bite was like an incredible treat, and I tried so many new foods and loved them all. Our servers were amazing and very cheerful, and I was happy they didn't mind answering my stupid questions, like "What are ramps?" (onions - who knew?) :) The Chandon winery is also a nice place to sit and chat. I was surprised at how many people were hanging out on the grass with their dogs, just enjoying the day.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went hereMy husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and we were very impressed with the food and impeccable service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had some top rated foodWe had some top rated food here and the place is gorgeous. The number of orchids was impressive but the food was also. We took pictures of our food it was so special. The desserts were so good; I wish they would have had a sampler for those.. loved it.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch while doing aWe had lunch while doing a day trip through Napa. My husband had the lobster bisque which was delicious and the scallops which had a slightly spicy sauce that was delightful. I had the smoked salmon appetizer which was wonderful as well. Portion sizes were on the small side- perfect for us but heartier eaters should be aware of it when ordering.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband treated me to aMy husband treated me to a lovely birthday dinner here. We had the seven course tasting menu and each course was a special experience.
This is our place to go in the valley for an elegant experience, good quality, a romantic environment, all at what we consider to be a fair price.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNot only was the food deliciousNot only was the food delicious but it was presented beautifully. Turned into an amazing evening for my husband and me and we would love to go back sometime. It is quite pricey, but worth every penny when you indulge every once in a while.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurant in aWonderful restaurant in a beautiful setting. A very creative cuisine, artfully prepared.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, although vibeAmazing food, although vibe was a little stuck up for me!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a special occasion, thisFor a special occasion, this is the place. Elegant space, gracious and relaxed atmosphere -- you feel both pampered and warmly welcomed at the same time. Even when full, the dining room is quiet -- no need to shout over dinner. The service is gracious, polished and absolutely expert. The food -- my goodness. Creative, beautiful to the eye and extraordinary flavors. And high marks for a chef who didn't bat an eye at a vegetarian diner -- one of the best meals I can remember, and that's comparing to other famous "special occasion" establishments near and far. The wine list is remarkable for depth and breadth, and reasonable prices for some really great offerings.
Worth a special trip.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantIt was great!!! I like the comfortable dining room. I definitely would return to try more dishes, everyone loved the Caviar, I thought it was great. Service was well-timed and friendly.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch RestaurantThe food was delicious, the presentation and service outstanding. Top notch Restaurant.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!! Where do I begin? TheWow!! Where do I begin? The staff at this winery/restaurant obviously like working here and it shows. The restaurant staff is "spot on" in their delivery of outstanding service.
I also like the no snobbery approach. I had the four course tasting menu with oysters to begin with. My wife had ala carte and everything from presentation to inventiveness to taste was perfect. We will be back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip!Fantastic, romantic, exceeded my expectations- and they were high! We will come back again when we return to Napa!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered the lunch tastingWe ordered the lunch tasting menu, the first 3 courses were fantastic, but the main forth course was disppointed. Fifth course desert was good!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMEtoile provided an exceptionalEtoile provided an exceptional dining experience unlike many I have had. It was truly a unique evening.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth making time forThe food at Etoile was special - a tasting menu as delicious as anything out there! The seared Arctic Char was scrumptious - enjoyed the periwinkle snails also. Will make a point to go back to Etoile.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the third time weThis is the third time we have eaten at this restaurant. It continues to offer an exquisite dining experience. We did not have our usual table with a view as we forgot to ask for one and they were so busy they could not accommodate. Our bad on that one. Still the experience was fantastic. We were too early in the year to eat outside on the patio, which offers an even better dining experience.
This restaurant never lets you down. For us it's a must when we visit Yountville.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dinner at Etoile was outstandinOur dinner at Etoile was outstanding. We both thought it was as good as our experience at the French Laundry. We had the 6-course tasting menu with the wine pairings after starting off with a half dozen oysters on the half shell. All of the courses were outstanding in both presentation and preparation. The pairings were well matched, and we were allowed to make a substitution on one of the sparkling wines. Service was absolutely top notch. Expensive, but well worth the money.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSparkling! This is probably the best restaurant in Napa (I know that Thomas Keller's French Laundry is also excellent but you cannot get a table there). Food is outstanding... wines are great including the full range of both Domaine Chandon speaking and still wines as well as Moet & Chandon champagnes from the parent company.
If you're going to eat in only one restaurant on your trip to Napa, this is the one!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to this restaurantWe have been to this restaurant many times over years. Today the food was especially wonderful, incredible flavours and also textures. From the 'lobster chowder', the uni appetizer, lamb filet and arctic char to the desserts everything was absolutely special. Always the best friendly and professional service, and in a beautiful setting!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMost Enjoyable Dining ExperienceEnjoyed one of the Best Meals I have ever had. Cannot begin to describe how good the Lobster Salad was. Everything we ordered was excellent. The wine list is on an IPAD...pretty cool.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a very good restaurant,This is a very good restaurant, still they should review their reservation process. When I arrived, they did not have me listed in their wating list and even though the restaurant was half empty they made us wait for a few mintues.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe started with oysters andWe started with oysters and a glass of Chandon sparkling wine and it just kept getting better. My husband's steak was perfect. I tried the Umi (urchin) and they were delicious. The vegetable appetizer was over-the-top in presentation and taste. Each dish is explained when the server brings it. That's how extraordinary each dish is- it has to be explained! This was truly a special place. The service was friendly, informative and well-timed. No rushing, no pretension just quality, relaxed elegance and class. We'll be back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Domaine Chandon'sWe have been to Domaine Chandon's restaurant, Etoile, numerous times over the years as a regular and traditional special event for us when we've been able to visit the Napa Valley during travels from the East Coast. It has always been very good but never better than during our most recent visit (March 2013). It's very expensive, particularly if one chooses one of the "tasting menus" with wine pairings, but (as a very special occasion) worth it.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
