Do leave the little ones at home with the sitter, because they will not be welcomed by the couple who will have the pleasure of sitting next to you. You know what I mean...this a dinning experience! I loved the variety of foods and ingredients that Chef Hoffman put together. Each bite was like an incredible treat, and I tried so many new foods and loved them all. Our servers were amazing and very cheerful, and I was happy they didn't mind answering my stupid questions, like "What are ramps?" (onions - who knew?) :) The Chandon winery is also a nice place to sit and chat. Elegant space, gracious and relaxed atmosphere -- you feel both pampered and warmly welcomed at the same time. Even when full, the dining room is quiet -- no need to shout over dinner. The service is gracious, polished and absolutely expert. The food -- my goodness. Creative, beautiful to the eye and extraordinary flavors. And high marks for a chef who didn't bat an eye at a vegetarian diner -- one of the best meals I can remember, and that's comparing to other famous "special occasion" establishments near and far. The wine list is remarkable for depth and breadth, and reasonable prices for some really great offerings.

TheWow!! Where do I begin? The staff at this winery/restaurant obviously like working here and it shows. The restaurant staff is "spot on" in their delivery of outstanding service.
I also like the no snobbery approach. I had the four course tasting menu with oysters to begin with. My wife had ala carte and everything from presentation to inventiveness to taste was perfect. We did not have our usual table with a view as we forgot to ask for one and they were so busy they could not accommodate. Our bad on that one. Still the experience was fantastic. We were too early in the year to eat outside on the patio, which offers an even better dining experience.

We both thought it was as good as our experience at the French Laundry. We had the 6-course tasting menu with the wine pairings after starting off with a half dozen oysters on the half shell. All of the courses were outstanding in both presentation and preparation. The pairings were well matched, and we were allowed to make a substitution on one of the sparkling wines. Service was absolutely top notch. Expensive, but well worth the money.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSparkling!This is probably the best restaurant in Napa (I know that Thomas Keller's French Laundry is also excellent but you cannot get a table there). Food is outstanding... wines are great including the full range of both Domaine Chandon speaking and still wines as well as Moet & Chandon champagnes from the parent company.

It has always been very good but never better than during our most recent visit (March 2013). Words cannot describe how wonderful this meal was. My boyfriend and I opted to go a la carte as opposed to the tasting menu since we had never been here and did not want to commit to the tasting menu if we weren't sure we would like it. What a foolish decision because every complimentary tasting item was outstanding. I had the lamb and he had the duck. Both were excellent! I also had the pear dessert which was fantastic. The service also very warm and welcoming. Crab and oyster tempura app was excellent, but the duck app was fatty and a little salty. Scallop entree was spot on, but the beef "cap" was also not a nice cut of meet, with veins and grizzle in two of the three slices. They were out of the cheese printed on the menu, but the warm chocolate cake was flawless.
In the end, Maria was THE difference in our lunch.
