A word from Dockside Restaurant on York Harbor
The approach to the Dockside Restaurant is all part of the Dockside’s charm. You are treated to views of the York River and the grand “summer cottages” as you turn onto Harris Island Road to reach Dockside Restaurant.

The view is quintessential Maine, people hustling up and down the docks, gleaming yachts and colorful lobster boats in front of a rock and pine-tree shore.

Dockside is warm and comfortable. Hardwood floors, European style lighting floor to ceiling window and a new mahogany bar with an adjoining outdoor cocktail deck. During warm months seating is available on our harbor view screen porch. The atmosphere is casual but the food is serious.

Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too

  • "Wonderful food and great service - the view of the harbor is amazing. Seating inside and out - just wonderful."

  • "Diver scallops were best we have had. The only disappointment was the mozzerella appetizer. Desert was delicious.."

  • "Was hoping to get a table on the screened-in porch, but nothing available, so we were seated outside on the deck. Lovely view. Food was average, prices a little high for lunch. I was shocked when the bill came and we were charged for re-fills on our sodas....they should have told us they weren't "free". Sodas came to more than the lunch itself. Our waiter was great and the view was beautiful. I've been here before and would return. But I do think the prices should be lower. Perhaps they are charging for the "view"? And they should let people know re=fills are NOT free! I was a little disappointed in the seafood chowder. Menu said it had seafood chunks, but I couldn't find any!"

  • "We visited the Dockside Restaurant for dinner for the first time and enjoyed our experience very much. We asked for patio seating and loved the view of the water and gardens. The atmosphere was very relaxing (despite a thunderstorm that came as we sat down). The food was well prepared, fresh and the portions were amble. We had, among the three of us, the lobster, tornadoes of beef and the house special - swordfish kebabs. The service was attentive and the staff flexible when we needed to change tables due to the weather. We definitely plan to return on our next visit to the area."

  • "The restaurant has a great atmosphere but service was just ok. Perhaps we went too late in the day (7:30 reservation) - they seemed to be wanting to shut down for the evening - Monday night. They had no duckling on the menu and ran out of the delicious looking blueberry pie. For the money, I'd choose another place."

  • "We have been going back to the Dockside for 13 years to celebrate our wedding there and anniversaries. Never disappointed in the dining experience; just keeps getting better. This year one new item was added to the appetizer list: Lobster bisque shooters. The most delicious bisque served in tiny cups with a morsel of fresh lobster on the fork. Our table was on the screened porch overlooking one of the prettiest harbors, the York River, and the ocean. Perfect. Peaceful. Delicious. Congratulations to the Lusty family for upholding such excellence at the Dockside."

  • "On our visit to York, we invited a local friend to meet us at Dockside, which he had not visited before. He said he thought his GPS had misled him when he got to the dead end--then saw the dirt road and sign. We were all impressed by the whole experience. The view is picturesque, looking across the water and out to sea. I liked the Harbor Sunset cocktail so much, we went to the bar after dinner for another! Fish was perfectly cooked and nicely presented."

  • "The location of the Dockside right on York Harbor is ideal. The food, unfortunately, does not live up to the setting. One of the evening's special was baked cod. While the cod was very fresh, it was absolutely tasteless. We ordered the apple pie for dessert and were again disappointed by its thick, flavorless crust and under cooked apples. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not very busy."

  • "We booked online short notice. 4 kids & three adults. I plugged in six on the app & we had a reservation in 10 min. We were greeted by a friendly man who quickly went out of his way to change the 6 top round to fit 7 of us. He was immediately nice to my 11 year old. We had two 7 year olds & two 11 year old kids w/ us. The kids meals were $7, delicious & big portion chicken. We ordered two of the daily made mozzarella which was also big potion. The French onion soup was perfec. $3 lobster shot which was accompanied by a tiny side of fresh meat. Everyone was amazed how good the food was. Service was fast enough as it was getting busy.We ordered the haddock for $28, the chicken & Paletta for $20 & the angus burger for $12. Beautiful view."

  • "Great food and service. Even with a microburst in town, there was no interruption to the quality of the service or food. We travel here at least yearly."

  • "My wife and I were married here 9 years ago and return each year, on or around our anniversary for a special dinner. We were thrilled with our wedding and reception and have been very happy every year afterward! Meals are very good and the HD Riesling is the best we've ever had. The price is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Steak, seafood, poultry, apps, dessert, it's all great. Absolutely beautiful setting and views either inside or on their screened in porch. Owner, Phil Lusty greets us each time he sees us and we have a very nice conversation to get caught up. Would highly recommend this Restaurant for a special outing!"

  • "The dinner and the waitress were excelent until our bill was screwd up. we were paying with 2 credit cards and the waitress made a mistake running the cards. The the Manager came over to try to fix it with a drink in his hand and he looked intoxicated. He basicially said that we should sore it out between ourselves a sther was a 3 day hold of over $200 dollars on one card and the total was but on the other card 3 seperate times. He also pushed my 71 year old Aunt's hand away when she offered to pay cash. the waitress was a sweet heart, but they need to take a look at there manager."

  • "We were so thrilled to find this great place at the last minute, just a short jaunt from Boston. Food was absolutely delicious (we had swordfish and drunken lobster), service was so nice and not hurried, drinks weren't incredible but very decent for the price. Our romantic dinner on the screened porch overlooking the harbor at sunset was just priceless. Thank you Dockside, we'll be back for longer next time to try more of the menu. It was hard to decide but thankfully our wise and lovely waitress Sherrian made excellent suggestions."

  • "We had a drink on the outdoor patio. It was like being on our own back patio, with a superb view of the harbor and boats. Went inside for dinner and were seated on the "porch" which was screened in, but still had a superb view of harbor. Dinner was served in a timely manner. Food was very good. We were able to take our time and the staff was very friendly."

  • "We dined on the porch at the Dockside for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday celebration. What an enchanting evening!"

  • "The food was very good. While the menu was not extensive, we all found numerous selections we had to choose from making the decision hard. The view of the harbor is very beautiful. We found the service to be very slow, though it did not bother us as we were in no hurry. The wine list is limited and populated with wines which are inexpensive compared to other restaurants with comparable food. However, we found a wine we liked quite a bit. It was very inexpensive for the quality. The restaurant is hard to find because the GPS tells you it is in a place it is not. You need to continue down the road further on. All in all a very good dining experience."

  • "First the Dockside has a great view overlooking the York Harbor, especially from the porch dining area. The Maine crab cakes were excellent. A new entree is on the menu, a Lobster pannini. My wife ordered it and she gave me a bite. It was filled with lobster and other goodies."

  • "A beautiful view was offset by dirty table linens and poor service. The food was just OK, the appetizer was oily and the main course had much to much sauce. The waiter never checked back to see if our meals were acceptable and the hostess spilled water all over the table an me. She did a poor job wiping it up and never brought me a dry napkin. We ordered a bottle of white wine, the waiter said he would be back with a wine chiller, our meal was almost over and the bottle almost empty before it arrived. The restaurant was not busy, as a matter of fact it was slow, so, no excuses for poor service. I won't go back, there are too many other excellent places in the York area to waste my time and money giving them a second chance."

  • "You can't beat the view at Dockside. The portion size on the fish was small and the New England Clam Chowder was not the best."

  • "This was such a pleasant last minute find! The view was fantastic and the food was excellent. The service and wine list were also super! I would absolutely recommend the Dockside and we will definitely be return customers!"

  • "We stayed at the hotel and considered the convenience of the restaurant a strong point. The smoked lamb shank was a special of the night and it was delicious. The waterfront location provided both great views from both inside the restaurant as well as the screened-in porch (where we ate) and the the third option, outside on the deck. We had the added feature of a wedding that took place on the lawn outside the restaurant followed by the wedding party eating in a private room. It was a fun evening."

  • "Although this was only our second time at the "Dockside Restaurant," perhaps only ten miles into Maine from the New Hampshire border, it's a place we would gladly drive 70 miles from Boston again - and not only for our wedding anniversary. Dockside is a place out of time. Small, quiet, attractive but not showy, it offers attentive staff and a sea-focused and well-prepared menu at reasonable prices. The unhindered harbor view was, as the brochures often claim - but seldom deliver - lovely. Meaning, deeply satisfying in the sense of having time and space to have a conversation where you and your partner can actually hear one another, and seldom be disturbed, except by waves or wind."

  • "Overlooking York Harbor, the Dockside has great good, superb service and a chef with imagination. Stroll around the grounds while there (it is also an Inn) for a relaxing experience. An L shaped, screened in porch allows outdoor dining or there is indoor seating. The bar includes a patio. Great dishes like crab cakes with mushroom which adds an unusual flavor. The Drunken Lobster is fantastic. The Dockside is a true dining gem."

  • "Great food and view is lovely. Enjoyed the Mothers Day brunch. "

  • "Went for Mother's Day brunch and it was perfect. The noise level is high, my only complaint. Sitting on the porch is delightful and the view the best around. The food was excellent especially if you like seafood as it was heavy on that."

  • "Prior to our Mother's Day Brunch, we had attended a wedding and stayed at the Dockside, with family and friends. The return says it all. We had to come back. The Dockside makes you feel like your part of thier family. We could not ask for a better place to be on Mother's Day. Thank you Dockside for welcoming us back. "

  • "We weren't sure what to expect with specified seating times and had never been to the restaurant before. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Seating arrangements done up well. Rotations for meals handled very well. Plenty of time for 2 hour meal rotations. Prime Rib was the best we've ever had. Smoked appetizers a great plus! Just a great experience! Would go back again."

  • "we drove up from boston on a whim and prayed we could find somewhere good that was not already mobbed for mothers day and were pleasantly surprised to find space, a seat on the deck overlooking the beautiful harbor, great food (really watery OJ is my only complaint), great service and a grassy area with a rocky beach and a gazebo for my 3 year old and 11 month old to toddle around on while we lounged after our great meal. Felt like we found a hidden gem. It was really perfect and we would go again! The walking trail nearby was a fun-find also!"
