A word from Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company
The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.r />

The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.

Diner Reviews
  • "There were 6 of us and we sat outside with a great view of the water and the experience was enhanced by watching the ships and the water activity. As night fell the apartments across the harbour came alive. The service was excellent, Shane, was friendly and attentive and met our every need. The food was excellent as well. I had the prime rib others had the pasta, salmon and all were totally satisfied. An all-round fun evening."

  • "Enjoyable experience although waiter mixed up our order with another table and two of our entrees sat there until the people asked us if it was meant for our table. The manager responded quickly she offered deserts on their tab. She was excellent apologetic but did not make excuses which was great. All in all a very enjoyable experience. One other comment the wines are overpriced so we did not order wine with dinner"

  • "I enjoyed the new outdoor partially covered seating area; it gives an extra elegance to the atmosphere. Indie was a very attentive server and very pleasant and fun. we will definitely be back"

  • "I've eaten here a number of times, but must say this is the best meal to date. The food has improved a notch (from very good to excellent) and the peaceful patio setting is a wonderful relaxed atmosphere compared to others known for their views in English Bay or Kits Beach. If you want to relax and have a fine meal, try Dockside."

  • "I had been here before and enjoyed it so I thought it would be a nice place to bring my mother for a birthday brunch. When I made the reservation, I filled out the special request section, stating that it was my mother's birthday. There was no acknowledgement of this at all and although I hadn't led her to expect anything, I was a bit disappointed. The service was quite slow and we waited 30 minutes after finishing our meal (and having the dishes cleared) before being asked if we would like anything else or our bill. Definitely not up to my first visit."

  • "My boyfriend and I had our first date at Dockside so we decided to have our anniversary dinner there last week. We were very please with the food overall and I loved that there were a number of gluten free options for me (I am celiac). It's such a great spot for romantic evenings in the summer, overlooking the water <3"

  • "A perfect ending to a day in Vancouver the view is magnificent and the food tasty drinks where cold and the company delightful."

  • "Food was not fresh. Items seemed like they were microwaved. Yorkshire pudding was a solid rock...old and stale. Brownie could break a tooth. Plenty of staff... But inconsistent service...suggest the hostesses focus on the customer rather than themselves. Spent more time in group huddles than on customer service (Our waiter was pretty good except he took away our menus before we had ordered so we asked him yo bring them back) ...but fabulous location to dine. Washroom was dirty."

  • "Great view of the harbor, yet my salmon was overcooked and dry. Friend's halibut was very good. Three others had steak that was good but not great (for the price). Service was lacking many times, and I believe the automatic 18% gratuity made our table of 11 less looked after than others."

  • "Dockside has been a local fave in the heart of tourist country! As a local, I've been going there for years for speak occasion lunches, brunches, work-meetings, cocktails, etc. The views are stunning. The food is decent. Like many restaurants in Vancouver with great views the food is rather overpriced for the quality. It's decent, run-of-the-mill eats and drinks, despite the cost and unmatched views. Would welcome an update to the menu! That said, one of the best dock/patios in the City. Lots of shade, a cool breeze, and despite the crowd it doesn't feel as though you're sitting on top of one another (hello Bridges!)."

  • "…the seafood cioppino was excellent as was the salmon…The service was very disappointing in that the waiter couldn't be bothered to tell us the "specials", we heard them via another waiter at the next table just as we got our food. I was not impressed as all three items mentioned we would have ordered, including a bottle of wine, the restaurant lost out as did we."

  • "The un-pasta (which I was looking forward to) was very disappointing. I had it last year and it tasted so much better and had a lot more flavour. Last year it was served in a bowl (as it should) and this time on a flat plate with the sauce all around. It was very overpriced to have a mound of Zuchinni strings (which may have cost a whole $1) be served at $19."

  • "They could not find our reservation; scrambled to set up our table for 10. Despite calling day before to re-confirm. Seemed the hostesses and our waitress were new; we received menus that were not in affect. They were clearly overwhelmed by July 1st. When our meals did come up, it took some effort to get the plate for the BBQ, plus cutlery and other items missing. It was chaos. They were out of many things. The food was excellent; perfectly prepared and delicious. The server was nice, but forgetful and overwhelmed. The manager, at first was defensive when we complained, did apologize and offer dessert. It was a lovely gesture and enjoyed. Their chef/pastry chef are excellent. For the price point, we expected better service."

  • "I made a reservation for the dockside 1week in advance, I love his easy if is to modify our reservation instantly and hassle free. When I got there the hostess were very friendly in the greeting, we were quickly seated and has our orders taken by a wonderful server. He was extremely humorous and we loved it. The food was prepared perfectly and was delicious with out wine and the scenic view. I definantly reccomend taking someone special here."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderfully prepared meal. The evening would have been made complete if the service had been to the same level as the food. We reserved a table, which was not ready for us upon arrival. No big deal, we could take a seat in the lounge and wait, which is what we did. Unfortunately no one appeared to want to serve us a drink while we waited. After ten minutes the bar tender, who had been straightening up tables asked us if we we're waiting for a table. When we replied yes, she turned to walk away. We had to call her back. At our table our server was practically non existent, did not introduce herself, and made mistakes on our order. Because the food wa so good, Hopefully our next experience will be better."

  • "My daughter and I went to this restaurant for lunch the other day. I specifically wanted to go there to dine on the patio as the view is amazing. Unfortunately, the weather was threatening and we opted for inside. No worries there! We were seated right by the floor to ceiling windows and might as well have been outside! We had a wonderful lunch, the service and food was great, and we will certainly be back. Definitely recommend."

  • "The view awesome, The brunch jazz band awesome. Service very very slow ... had reserved a table and it was not ready - we were 8 minutes late - but still ... waited long time for anyone to bring even water ...Brunch menu not great at all if you are gluten and dairy free! Server was knowledgeable and when not asked the kitchen. Still, so much more is possible to be GF and DF!@! Had to search for server for bill ... not observant. There are other patios ...."

  • "It was altogether a pleasant dining experience, with friends from another country. The only problem was the noise level, very difficult at times for those of us over 60. We did understand that Saturday evening would be busy, though and would be happy to return at a less busy and less noisy time."

  • "We live about 10 minutes walk from Dockside and the food is reliably good so we often have brunch or lunch there for 2 or 3. It is always worth waiting to hear about the specials before deciding!"

  • "Wonderful patio layout, with public walk-way well separated from patio space (unlike a near-by competitor restaurant location). Nicely shaded - but not disrupting of view out towards False Creek / City. Food & Service was good. Enjoyed the pizza offerings - especially the Fig topped pizza. Hope to be back on another sunny day, soon!!!"

  • "I will definitely return for the chili squid and would like to try the zucchini pasta next time (I had the halibut and it was very good but $34 is a cheeky price point, although expected since it's in a hotel). I do appreciate the ocean wise commitment, as well as notifications regarding items for those with dietary restrictions (I am gluten intolerant), so those were both a plus. Our waitress was not super attentive - came quite a bit after we'd started eating to offer fresh pepper, and neither she nor the bus person noticed that I was missing a knife for my main course, so I retrieved one from another table. Next time, I will most likely go either for brunch or late afternoon for appetizers on the deck."

  • "Lovely setting. View of boats. Nice outdoor patio. Fish and chips batter was oily and gooey, and fish pieces were very small. A disappointment. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly at the beginning but when it was time to get the bill, he was nowhere to be seen. And the restaurant was only ¼ full if that. It is a shame as the restaurant itself is very very nice, and view and setting to die for, but the food very mediocre. I will not return and will not recommend it."

  • "I took my two sisters to brunch on the outdoor patio. Lovely from the moment we came in and were greeted by sweet Daniela. Brunch menu suited our pretty picky healthy eating. Loved the poached eggs with quinoa, arugula (can't remember the name). I'm back again at night in July for an artists get together. Looking forward to it."

  • "I always love my Dockside experience. Whether for a special occasion or just grabbing a bite, this place is perfect. THE PATIO IS OUTSTANDING...I could live there. And the food is always great...the duck I had recently was perfectly done, and I never go without ordering the Forno Flatbread."

  • "We are never disappointed when we dine at Dockside. This time we came for Father's Day breakfast. We knew there was a Father's Day BBQ being offered, but we were there early (10am). The breakfast menu was good, but a couple of specials for Father's Day would have been nice. All in all, we were all pleased with our food. And the service is always good here. One hint: please don't take away any plates until everyone is finished eating."

  • "We are so happy with everything at this restaurant, Dockside... You couldn't ask for a more amazing staff. so so pleased! We'll be back! Felt at home here.. May be the reason we could leave and stayed for lunch and dinner. Thank you!"

  • "We gave you another chance even though we had said never again. After all, you're close to home and an ideal location. However, we were disappointed yet again (third time now.) our server was delightful and very keen to please. However, the room is far too noisy (needs some soft finishes to dull the noise) and food was third rate. I had salmon Benny. The potatoes was large chunks and burnt. The salmon almost nonexistent and the English muffin dry, untoasted. My husband had the seafood chowder and said it was all corn and no flavour. Our daughter, whose birthday it was, had the florentine Benny and like me, found the potatoes large, burnt and ugly. There needs to be more attention paid to serving palatable food that is beautifully presented"

  • "Had a lovely luncheon on the patio this week. The food was delicious and the portion sizes just right! Dessert was to die for... save room, you will want to try some dessert, I recommend the cheesecake, my guests loved the lemon meringue pie. Our server was really great too, very attentive and friendly."

  • "My Husband and I celebrated our anniversary lunch at Dockside Restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and responded to my written request to be seated on the patio by reserving us a lovely table at the front of the patio with an amazing view. Everything we ordered was wonderful. My only complaint is the wine by the glass size was only available in a 6oz and then jumped to a 1/2 litre. It would be nice to see a 8oz or 9oz option. I plan to return shortly with some friends for a girls night out."

  • "This past weekend a group of friends and I decided to hit Granville Island as our destination with the Dockside Patio as our choice for the meeting place. Some of us took the Aqua Bus, some biked and others took Car2Go. The patio was amazing with spectacular views of False Creek. The pergola was perfect in keeping the strong sun at bay the perfect sun/shade combo. We ordered a variety of tapas finger foods including the Grilled Squid - amazing. Of course we were here to enjoy the cocktails which were prepared perfectly. The service was a bit slow, but we really weren't in a hurry so was not too bothered. Look forward returning again on another sunny #Vancouver day."

  • "I have been going here for years with my friends off and on, the food has always been great. The service is not so great 9 times out of 10 the service is terrible, they are really slow to come to the table, rarely come around and refill your water or coffee. On average it takes 10 to 15 minutes for someone to come to the table to take ones drink order and if you are not ready to order when the drinks arrive you could be waiting a while before the servicer comes back. Also after you are finished eating they are slow to clean the plates up and also bring the bill. "

  • "Made reservations 5 days in advance, noting it was a special event (anniversary celebration) and asked for a window seat - not only did they not have a window seat for us, but they seated the two of us at an unromantic table for 5! I was very disappointed that the restaurant did not honour our request given our reservation was made plenty in advance. After speaking to the Manager, she was lucky that a window table for two just opened up, and they were able to relocate us. But having to deal with this on an anniversary celebration, really took away from the ambience of the night. "
