We have been there several times never had a bad choice. Our server was friendly and very helpful with our choices. Loved the piano playing at the bar made you not want to leave. The service can be hit or miss, this time our waiter was awesome, but I witnessed another table be treated rudely. When we arrived the hostess and a waitress were in a very heated discussion, they did take it to behind an alcove (which we could still hear) and ignored us waiting there....not too happy about that! That first impression - as we walked into the restaurant - was almost absolutely negative: despite a nearly-empty restaurant and our reservation (which I could clearly see on her screen), the young lady insisted that we sit at the bar. Her colleague (perhaps a manager) was also uninterested in our business.
Luckily, the waiter and the food amply made up for the first impression. Service was excellent. Ivan, out waiter was friendly and efficient. My food was delicious. My problems with this restaurant are: I really wanted a lobster tail, but a 16 - 18 ounce tail would have been much too much for me and to throw the remainder away at those prices would be absurd. I am a handicapped person and the ladies room is accessed by a stairway to the second floor or you can use the one in the kitchen. I passed and searched for one after leaving the restaurant. Doc's was packed, great sing for a restaurant. We were seated promptly . Wait staff was great.
Three of us had appetizers, 1 clam chowder and 2 asparagus crab soup. The asparagus crab soup was a substitute for Doc's famous Crab Corn Chowder, which they had run out of. The clam chowder was reported to be very good. Unfortunately the asparagus crab soup was was marred by VERY stringy asparagus shoots.
We had 2 filet mignon, 1 rack of lamb & 1 fried shrimp. All were amazing. Timing of food delivery was spot on. All in all another great time at Doc's.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
