Diner Reviews
  • "Our group had the soft shell crabs and the tuna. All dishes were plentiful and delicious. The service was excellent which was surprising for such a crowd. We were all very happy and enjoyed our dining."

  • "We came in from Los Angeles and had to dash to make it on time. Some of the freshest, most delicious oysters I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Strong, good martins, flawless service. A must in the area."

  • "There are many choices for fine dining in AC, but this is the best seafood restaurant in town!"

  • "We had the seafood sampler for 2. The flounder special and a beet salad. Someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing. The flounder was fantastic. The sampler for 2 was as well. The beer salad was tasteless but I'm giving them a pass as everything else was so good."

  • "Not our first visit to Doc's. Definitely not our last. Service is impeccable (Taz is the very best). Dinner was adjusted to my request. Chef came out to ensure it was perfect. As always it was. Go out of your way for dinner here and you'll be impressed."

  • "First time at docks but won't be the last. Excellent food and service. Best shrimp ceviche ever had."

  • "A family owned business since the late 1800s and after eating there I understand why. Each course was perfectly spaced. I never felt rushed. The shrimp seviche was packed with flavor. The crab au-grantin was well prepared and not swimming in sauce. The dessert was light and not over sweet. Our server, Joanne, was energetic and after only three weeks, knew her menu and wasn't afraid to recommend. This restaurant could use another 20 tables, so it's a bit loud, but what would you expect from a restaurant that offers great food and service. Highly recommend making a reservation."

  • "The food here is phenomenal and our waitress Helen made the experience even more wonderful. The place was packed at 9pm on a Tuesday night and its easy to see why. Fried tomatoes as an app and tuna tartar, so delicious."

  • "Great service excellent food a little to cold inside and tables are to close together but still a great place to eat"

  • "Been going to Docs for years. Although not a "local" and the fact that it's not a local place we always feel welcomed. Our waiter a few days ago asked if he waited on us and we told him that in fact he did; almost a year ago. Great classic seafood dishes that you simply do not see anywhere. Raw bar and particularly the 2 person sampler are not only the freshest but the best value around. Good to see a few Craft Beers on tap which is not usually the case of a "well established" anchor restaurant. You get what you get and its worth getting...everytime"

  • "One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. A great reason to get out of the casinos. A real old-fashioned Seafood restaurant. With fresh baked rolls and oyster crackers and the best desserts from their own bakery. The tuna tatare is to-die-for and big enough to share. All the fish and seafood is the freshest and the preparations are wonderful. I can't wait to go back--I might go back moreso for Dock's than for the rest of AC!"

  • "My husband and I always eat at docks when we go to the shore and visit Atlantic city. We usually eat there 6 times a year. Always a great selection of fish, which is what I always eat."

  • "Every review I found pointed to Docks as the best seafood restaurant in AC. Place is very samll and as a table of 2 we might as well invited the couples on either side of us to share with us. Lobster tail diner ($54) was huge but unfortunately as I thought it was frozen and didnt have much taste. I will say they have an assortment of Oysters and waiter explained each and gave recommendations. The oysters were VERY good. Wife had Red Snapper which was good....nothing was out of this world. $164 later with no coffee or desert. ..The only thing I would return for would be the oysters."

  • "My wife and I visit Atlantic City a few times a year, mostly to see music events. Dock's is our favorite "off site" restaurant. Our best meal was last week, with my brother and sister in law -locals who had not eaten at Dock's in tow. The staff was quite attentive, the food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Seating is somewhat cramped, which is great if you want to strike up a conversation with your friendly "next door neighbors". The atmosphere is lively, most likely because everyone appears to be enjoying their meals and having a great time. Weekend reservations are a must. Dock's is a must try in AC."

  • "Once again the food was great. We both ordered seafood dishes and they were cooked perfectly. Our table was ready when we arrived but no rush to sit, so we enjoyed a cocktail at the piano/seafood bar. Waitress was on point and knowledgeable of the dishes, without being over concerened with us and if we needed anything. Tables are close together so you are basically eating with the goup or couple next to you but that makes it more entertaining. Would eat there again the next time we visit AC."

  • "Main entree of Lobster was good. The appetizers of fried oysters tasted like chicken parm no oyster taste. Also the crab soup was mostly potatoes very little crab if any."

  • "If you want real seafood prepared properly then Docks is the place in AC. Oysters are wonderful and specials are always just that. Our last visit included oysters, fluke special, and softshell crabspecial. Reservations are a must!"

  • "My husband and I both had creamy crab and corn soup, which was very good. He had excellent crab cakes and I had a delicious sautéed crab dish. The hot crispy rolls, baked potatoes and sautéed vegetables were also very good."

  • "Food and service were excellent. Tables are too close together and too small."

  • "We went to Dock's last year for the first time and loved it. Returned again this year for our 35th and envision going back year after year. Unfortunately I can't eat shellfish but the wife can and she loved the oyster app special and scallop dinner. I had the rack of lamb and cooked to perfection!"

  • "Classic dishes, well executed. Attentive service. Red Snapper was a hit, Flounder Franchaise not as much."
    Dined on 7/14/2014
  • "Excellent food and great service. The tables are very close together and the restaurant is a little noisy so I would not recommend for romantic dining. The red snapper was outstanding as was the Parmesan Oyster appetizer. Nice wine by the glass and the peach dessert was well worth the calories. Definitely plan on returning. A nice break from the casinos."

  • "Our friend from Georgia grew up in Ventnor. The only original old AC resturant (pre Casino) he hadn't dined at was Dock's. He belongs to a couple of "Foodie" groups in the Atlanta area. He rates Dock's as definitely one to add to his list of return visits. Our daughter and son-in-law are frequent patrons. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening."

  • "It was a special occasion -- wedding anniversary -- and when they ushered us toward a table that would have us rubbing thighs with our neighbors, I asked for something better. They were VERY nice and found us one. Good start, as was meeting our waitress, Joanne. Downhill from there. I forgot about not eating oysters in months without an R and ordered 6 at $2 each. Verdict: Small, dried out and actually tasted worse, but by that time we already had ordered fried oysters. Oh no! They were the size of racquetball orbs and just about as dry. The potato puffs were nothing special but sauteed mushrooms were the star. Oh, forget the crab and corn chowder unless you are very fond of corn. Call it Crab AWOL Corn Chowder, please. Tourist trap?"

  • "The menu featured a lot of unique seafood offerings. Me and my date opted for the salmon with parmesan and tomato risotto. Everything was fresh and flavroful. I ordered a sangria which didn't really taste like sangria, more like a vodka soda but I still enjoyed it. The food was the only thing I enjoyed about this restaurant. I expect hospitality at establishments like this, and I was extremely disappointed. The only friendly person was the older woman with gray hair at the door."

  • "Once again we loved the service and amazing food. The ambiance was marred by the extra tables that had been added to an already crowded space. The noise level was extremely loud and we were practically eating at the adjoining tables. Our table jutted into the aisle and I was continually bumped by other diners and wait staff. They did try to resolve that after we mentioned it to the hostess. Our great waitress confirmed the situation to the hostess."

  • "This was one of our best dining out experiences in New Jersey. The meal was memorable for all of the right reasons. Our server, Joanne, went out of her way to make it special. She was a true five-starhospitality professional. Unfortunately, the noise level was beyond energentic and at times deafening. We will definitely go back and recommend Dock's Oyster House."

  • "Perfect shore restaurant. Oyster bar is outstanding with an incredible selection. Mouth watering halibut special this weekend. Lobsters always amazing. Try the crab Caesar- just the right amount of garlic. My recent favorite is the corn and crab chowder with a kick of jalepeno cream. Yum! The oysters marinara are the best thing I have ever tasted. The best soft shells at the shore- cooked perfectly and served on a bed of corn salsa. Awesome combo. Finish with the key lime-it's the best I've ever had. I'm there twice a week and can't wait to go back. All the wait staff is knowledgable, friendly, and extremely professional. The bartenders pour inventive, delicious cocktails so be adventuresome. You won't be sorry."
