Diner Reviews
  • "Classic, fresh seafood delivered 7 days/ week. White table cloths that match the expected ambience and service. Had a great lobster special that was very fairly priced considering the restaurant and location. Would definitely go back for another special occasion."

  • "A new York Classic. Fine seafood, served in the old style atmosphere of the best sea food restaurants. Wine list is excellent."

  • "Littlenecks and crab cake remain a favorite. Arriving before noon ensures nicely paced lunch within an hour if schedule is tight; gets louder and more crowded towards 1 PM."

  • "Totally enjoyable - have never had a bad meal there. We were three in our party - we all ordered something different and each was a delight. can't wait to go back."

  • "I opted for the salmon and I must say it was simply delicious. I certainly will be back to try the lobster."

  • "The food is excellent but the service the last two times (both within the past three weeks) has been horrible. The waiters/waitresses are fine but there are far too few of them and they just canot serve the customers. They stand at the computer screens for long periods suggesting the system is not up to par. The bus staff is impudent and unhelpful. The manager is uncaring and self-justifying. This is a change for the worse over the past several years and, because the prices are not a bargain, it is a big factor in deciding whether to select Docks despite good food and drinks."

  • "I only went there for lunch. It is still one of my favorite plases for lunch .... The food is GREAT. Service great too."

  • "Had brunch here last Sunday before seeing a play. The food was solid and reasonably priced. I liked the brunch cocktail special and the brunch bread basket. I would've liked a few more brunch food options on the price fixe menu, but we each made it work. The service was good. The restaurant had a jazz quartet playing during brunch, which added great ambiance."

  • "If you are a seafood lover, this is definitively a good spot to go. Prices are reasonable, food and presentation are very good. We had the jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster on linguini a la diavola and the black sea bass. The restaurant is also very nice. Excellent!"

  • "I was disappointed to hear that the hostess told the person I was meeting that I did not have a 7:30 reservation when she had said to me that she knew I was meeting someone and would I rather sit or wait up front. Other than thAt, we had a pleasant experience."

  • "The food and the service were at the top of the charts, as usual. We particularly appreciated the booth for the two of us by a window!"

  • "Docks Oyster Bar serves very good seafood. It is a place that is fun and dependable for a good fish meal. Service is very good and our dinner manages to always be consistently good."

  • "We had a great experience. Seated quickly and we really enjoyed our server. The food? Outstanding. A bit noisy but we did show up during happy hour so no big deal. I have loved this place for years and I recommend this to anyone looking for fun or just a nice dinner."

  • "One of the best places to have lobsters. Check and agree on details of preparation - otherwise grilled scallops may get burned"
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "Oysters and clams cold, clean and fresh. Service attentive but allow a few more lunch time minutes after 12.30-1 PM."

  • "They confirmed our reservation an hour before and my request for a window seat was ready when we arrived. No waiting-sat right down. The menu is wonderfully diverse, service friendly and attentive and the food was fabulous. Better make reservations, they get busy!"

  • "As always, Docks is superlative! The staff is warm and helpful."

  • "I've been to many expensive places, but this place was not worth my money. This is more of a tourist spot. Supposedly famous for seafood, but it's not even good!"

  • "Good food. Excellent variety of seafood. efficient and helpful service. Good business restaurant. Expensive. "

  • "This was our first time at Docks Restaurant, and we really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the service was great. It is a loud restaurant with lots of people in the bar area. If you want a quiet dinner, this is not the place for you. We didn't mind the noise, and the decor was pleasing. We would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Went here 3 times for lunch and once for dinner with a group of work colleagues and we all LOVED Docks. Variety and freshness of seafood is superb and the preparations are simple but divine. Stuart (Matre D) is very accommodating and they take reservations which is key as always very busy."

  • "Not great food - below average in fact - disappointed as I used to be a regular years ago."

  • "Fish & Ships are $27 and they're horrible; soggy "crust", mushy fish & bland. There's absolutely no excuse for this in a so-called seafood restaurant. My local grocery store serves better for about $5.00. If you want good fish & chips go to the Grand Central Oyster Bar, where for $5.00 less, you get the real thing. The Sunday Clam Bake was better, but pretty skimpy on the clams, mussels and potatoes. "

  • "Took my girlfriend to NYC for her first time and when she mentioned she wanted seafood I knew exactly where to take her.. the Oysters were excellent followed by Lobster Risotto for my girlfriend and the crab cakes for myself.. both were nicely presented, delicious and a good sized serving. The ambiance was excellent and service fantastic. Gets my recommendation any time for good seafood in NYC!"

  • "we had an early dinner here, after a show. the meals were quite good, but not great. since we were early, the restaurant was quiet with only a few tables occupied. the hostess seated us at a table right next to the water station. i requested two different tables, rather than this one, but was told they were "reserved". we also had a reservation, obviously. anyway, since we were in a bit of a rush we did sit at the table the hostess gave us. by the time we left the other two tables were still not occupied !! "

  • "This restaurant is very solid in terms on service and food quality as compared to the price. Great seafood dishes and wine collection. They usually have a good prefixe menu. The fried dishes are good but I think they are way too pricey. For those prices I would get a non fried entrée. Notable dishes were the mussels and the red snapper. The lobster risotto is a bit bland to me. But overall I recommend it for a nice dinner."

  • "Excellent Food, excellent service, excellent ambiance. What more is there?"

  • "It was a most historical reunion for our family, who had come from Australia, Mauritius, California and New Jersey. I chose Docks for our meal and meeting place. The scallops I ordered were small and tasteless. The rice that accompanied it was dry and inedible. Although the others did not complain we were all disappointed with the quality of the food. What a shame. I cannot recommend this restaurant. "

  • "great neighborhood place to unwind and have a drink and some fish. Good burgers too."
    Dined on 1/9/2014
  • "Didn't realize that there would be a limited menu for lunch but all in all was ok. The music that they had was way too loud for an already loud restaurant and as a result we didn't have great table conversation as no one could hear above the loud "band". "

  • "I tried to go here for the happy hour but the bar was all full, def recommend getting here early for that. Cheers!"

  • "The oysters are always fresh and reasonably priced for NYC restaurants. Reservations are recommended. It can be noisy like most of the popular NYC restaurants. Seafood is quite good and well prepared."
