  • "I was so happy to find a restaurant while on vacation that can handle gluten-free without handing me a salad and saying that's all they had. the Gluten-free selections were more than half the menu and I had a wonderful meal and thoroughly enjoyed myself and didn't have to worry!"

  • "You know its good when you can't decide to go off the regular menu or choose a special, tonight it was the tilefish special with tomato chutney and a nice side of risotto, as always, never disappointed and the track record lives on, have never had a dish here that we didn't like"

  • "Fish and Chips were best I have ever had!!!!!!! Salmon was delicious too!!!"

  • "The place was FREEZING COLD!!! I ordered the scallops. Only 4 scallops on the place. Wings were GREAT. Wife got steak and shrimp. Very nice steak cooked exactly to order but only 4 shrimp. No salad with the meal only rolls. Service was super. We thought that the prices were high compared to the amount of food received."

  • "We've been to Doc Magrogan's in the past and went with good expectations. The food was bland, overpriced, and service fair. Service and quality seems to be declining. We had a party of 6 and every person had at least one complaint about the food/service. How do you justify $28 for 4 scallops? Kale put on a plate with no seasoning? Fra Diavo that isn't spicy. Cole slaw that has no taste. Lobster roll without any flavor. These were just a few of our problems. I won't be making the 25 minute drive again to dine there."

  • "We were taken right in to a table and then sat for over 15 minutes before someone came to wait on us. Once we were waited on waitress was great. Other surprise was the restaurant had no lobster. None. Also sirloin steak wasnt cooked how I asked for it. All other food and appetizers were great."

  • "Over all found the dining room actually very cold I wish I had a sweater to put on. I was very disappointed in the quality of the Ahi Tuna on both the appetizer and the tacos. Tune was very dry and fatty which suggest not the best quality was being used. My wife had the Lobster tacos and again found the lobster meat very tough and dry. Again suggesting that it wasn't all that fresh or over cooked. Drinks good my wife enjoyed her wine and the server had a good personality however he noticed we did not finish the tuna app and made a comment about the tuna appearance himself but made no attempt to ask or inquire more about it. That is were the serve now becomes responsible for poor quality."

  • "This is our favorite spot for seafood in the Scranton, Pa area. Everything is fresh, not frozen. Service is good. Friendly staff. We love to get the oysters, but their description is not always not track, best to ask the server for their recommendation."

  • "We loved the appetizers drinks and the crabs. The desserts were fabulous too! We will definitely come again soon!!"

  • "Overall I had a good experience here. While the food did take a bit long to come out (granted they were at full capacity), it was very tasty. The restaurant seemed like a notch above Red Lobster but below a true fine dining experience."

  • "Quite busy on Saturday night; glad we made reservations on opentable.com. Clam chowder was very thick, but should have more clams and less potato. Seafood platters were good sized, and reasonably priced. Somewhat noisy, but not at a level to inhibit conversation. Waitress ran my loyalty card, but didn't provide a printout of my new balance, nor did she offer to take off the available $20 credit from my bill; I'll use it next time."

  • "Our overall experience was good. Our server and the manager were awesome. The food, not so great. Appetizers were ok but the meals were sseriously lacking. However it was such fantastic and friendly service, we'll probably go back and try another dish. We had our 18 month old with us and he loved the chicken fingers, plus the server brought him an "appetizer" of fruit- oranges and cherries, then brought him more when he Ate it all before his dinner arrived. We thought that was incredibly sweet! The food may not have been to our liking, but please do give this place a chance. I had the lobster blt tacos and hubby had the fried platter. I ordered an extra side and didn't like it and they took it off my bill. Really cant complain"

  • "Oh my....where to start. First, they seem to not ever complete the seating because points never show up. I order surf n turf. Stead was over cooked had to send back. Took a while to remake. Manager offered soup or salad. Had clam chowder, it was so thick it looked and tasted like paste. My husband was finished eating until my meal finally came. The manager never checked back. My husband asked for a box for his soup and the waitress took the soup and never brought it back. Over all it was just an awful dining experience. Staff seemed more concerned with chores then customers."

  • "My friend and I have developed a Monday evening habit of asking "Are we going to Doc's?" We know the staff by now and we always end up chatting with people at the bar. It is a great time. But don't arrive too early because I don't want to lose my bar stool!"

  • "My co-worker and I enjoyed our evening here with Olivia as our server. It was her first day post training and we were her first table. OLIVIA IS AWESOME!! Unfortunately, the room temp was high. It was mildly uncomfortable when we sat down and dreadful when we left; we could have asked to be moved, but we may have lost Olivia. My friend very much enjoyed his dinner; I was a little disappointed. I ordered Doc's Grille - a large plate with three nice scallops, two TINY shrimp, a 1.5 to 2 ounce piece of salmon (at best), and a whole lot of roasted potatoes, at least 3/4s of the plate was potatoes. Everything was saturated in Old Bay. I would go again, but ask them to limit the Old Bay, and I'd order something else."

  • "We enjoyed our meals - everything we ordered was delicious, arrived promptly and was hot. I was surprised that they were out of several of the things we ordered and we were not made aware of it until after the order was place. The noise level was higher then I expected, but we were told that they usually get that crowd for the oyster specials. It would have been more enjoyable with some music in the background."

  • "Monday is our night to drive - this place is over an hour away but worth it for oysters. The selection is great, service is great, and its just fun and relaxing to be here on Mondays! We have eaten at Doc's on other occasions and have nothing but good things to say. Always great service, excellent food, and a welcoming staff."

  • "The food was very good, the price is moderate, but due to the high noise level, we could not relax and enjoy our meals. "Energetic" is way too polite a term to describe the noise level."

  • "This was not my first time at Doc's and it won't be the last. I've never had a bad meal or bad experience here. There's a few locations throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. Let's hope they expand to more locales."

  • "The oyster were very good. The salmon was overcooked and the sweet potato hash minimal. VERY little sweet potato. Too stron on the BBQue. That was over whelming."

  • "We enjoy Doc's for all kinds of dining experiences. Especially enjoyed the complimentary half dozen oysters for Father's Day. Favorites are Cease and Desist Fries, raw oysters and Guinness Shrimp. Wish we could get Baltimore style blue crabs and better deals on king crab legs on the menu. Love the manager. He greets you like he's known you for years. Hostesses are very professional in appearance and demeanor. Their courtesy and manner of dress positively reflects the good taste and high standards of the management. Overall, we love Doc's and visit as often as we can. We have another "famous" local seafood restaurant about 9 miles from our home, but we travel 25 miles one way to dine at Doc's instead."

  • "I was in the Scranton area on business. Not to be a snob but I come from NYC so my expectations for quality seafood were low. Docs delivered the goods! Nice choices prepared rare as requested. Nice wine options too! I will definitely be back!"

  • "Was seated outside due to it being a special event and we were freezing. Eventually we had to ask to be seated inside and they were happy to accommodate. Definately my "go-to" restraunt in the area. Excellent food."

  • "My son loves oysters....and....we were thrilled hearing Doc Magrogan's was coming to Montage Mountain....and....now even more excited to experience the wonderful service and GREAT FOOD firsthand!! This was my son's birthday dinner...and...trust me after a plate of oysters, fresh salmon and a Guinness--he said it was AWESOME! I agree. :-) Thank you for bringing a fantastic restaurant to NE Pennsylvania. "

  • "We made reservations and showed up early they were more than happy to accommodate us. The service was great, and the food was excellent. It was a little noisy but that can be expected everyone around us was enjoying themselves."

  • "Everything is so fresh and succulent. It was my second visit and I was able to try the oysters and they were amazing. I tell everybody about it. I can't wait to go back again."

  • "This was a terrific dinner. The restaurant staff is very knowledgeable about food allergies and went out of their way to make accommodations. I ordered filet mignon which was excellent. My husband and son ordered a dozen oysters each of different varieties. They said they were excellent. My husband's cashew encrusted tilapia and my son's ahi tuna were both excellent, as well, per their reviews. By the time we left at 6:45, the line to get in was out the door. "

  • "We went for Mother's Day dinner and had reservations (saving a long wait time). We had the seafood fra diablo ( very spicy) and a salad. Our bill was $80 ( no drinks). This for me is definitely a special occasion type of place. "

  • "If you like oysters this is the place for you. Biggest selection for miles around. Also try the Oysters "DockaFeller" and the Calamari, wonderful dishes!"

  • "Doc McGrogan's is a great go to place for a nice meal. Food quality and quantity are a good value. Hospitality and waitstaff are very nice and without being oversolicitous, they make sure you are doing well and enjoying your food. My husband felt food and soup could be hotter, though he did not tell our waiter that. It was a very crowded Sat. night. very very very noisy, and service was slow but accurate. They bent over backwards with our open table reservation."

  • "Food was good but we have had better (Joe's Crab Shack is better and so is Red Lobster). The ambiance is nice and my husband loved the mussels. I had shrimp and scallops (which were number 10s) and they were tasty but a bit dry. Our friends told the server it was my husband's birthday and a piece of chocolate cake with a candle was brought to the table. It was large so we all shared it. We assumed it was free (as many places do this for a birthday) but were surprised my friend was charged $12 for the piece of cake. This was our second visit and we still think it is overpriced for our area which is not a really big city."

  • "How good is Doc's? Let's just say I live 55 miles away, and my family and I make that trek as often as we can. The seafood is amazing. It's not everyday you find a restaurant as good as this one."

  • "I enjoyed Doc's grilled combo and my husband enjoyed the Ahi tuna that was a feature dish this weekend. He also loves oysters of which he ordered a half dozen. Have been here before and have not been disappointed."

  • "We had a surprise birthday dinner...They set us up in a small room and our service and servers were excellent..The food was great and they have a full bar.By the way noise level was a little high because of us,,We had a great time."

  • "Oysters were excellent. Lobster tacos were lousy. Just being honest. Would recommend the appetizers but not the dinner. Rice was terrible also. Bland boiled rice. Forget what you called it. Jasmine? Would come again but for oyster bar only."

  • "Went there dinner. Food was alright. Wanted my leftovers to take home. Had to ask where they were when the waitress gave us our bill. They threw them out. Has to wait till they brought out new food, never did all the crab meat I had left on my plate. Disappointed."
