The restaurant shut down 4 days before we booked our reservation, yet we were not advised and showed up to find locked doors and another couple waiting outside. Had a really difficult time finding another restaurant with availability in Old Montreal on Grand Prix weekend.

Wait staff was great. Sommelier was equally great. Each course was really different ( and I mean that in a good way). Starting with the lamb tartare and ending with the braised rabbit, everything was truly delicious. Being an American and not too familiar with Canadian wines, the waitress and sommelier were really helpful with finding just the right local white wines. I should know--I finished two bottles on my own! It was an anniversary dinner and while we did not make mention of that, atmosphere was great for "gazing" at each other. I would definitely recommend this place, but unfortunately, I understand that they are closing in June (2012).

Great food, sincere service. Couldn't believe how full I was (I'm 6'7") Could have easily cut each portion 1/3 and I wouldn't have noticed! All in all if you have $260 to spend on a tasting menu with 4 drinks, it's proper return on investment. I'll call on the chefs to do some food demos in support of a charity on Mount Royal featuring a farmers market!

While the waterfront atmosphere is nice and the service is very attentive, this restaurant is very overpriced and the menu is tiny. I went here because of a great review in my travel guide. If this restaurant had posted its menu on its website, I would not have gone. The food here is fine, but in a city with no shortage of great restaurants, why limit yourself to a tiny menu and subject yourself to high prices?

This was a very enjoyable dining experience. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. It was refreshing to be in a restaurant that not only offered a great meal but also an education of sorts on where the ingredients were sourced from. It is obvious that the owners care about not only putting out a wonderful product in terms of taste but also in terms of sustainability and use of the best possible ingredients available at the time the menu is formulated. Great restaurant!

Our server when suggesting the Canadian wine we all were having Halibut but my wife wanted to try a different wine than me and my sons, more mineral No problem ! She had her own glass she was looking for a good Chardonnay type flavor, me and the boys opted for something more fruity, both were great suggestions, very accurate. The wine list is emphasizing Canadian and needs to be explored, the wine prices are quite respectable. Only sour note was cheese entree seemed uninspired, the pasta with wild mushrooms was to swoon over, the pasta filled with lamb and tuna was tongue-tied delicious. The main course of Halibut was simply sublime.

We were forewarned that the menu was meat-heavy, but this was really too much. I have been to many restaurants where meat or fish are the drawing cards but they all at least gave winks to veggies and, salads and carbs. Not the case here. The food was good but not great. We were there at 6:30, (the restaurant was far from full) expecting sevice to be efficient but not rushed, as we had to be somewhere else at around nine. We didn't order drinks or wine, and still had to pass on dessert and coffee because it was 9 o'clock when our plates were cleared!

My wife and I dined here during a weekend vacation to Montreal. We wanted to try some new foods and were very happy with the menu and the preparation of all of our dishes in the elegant casual restaurant. The waitstaff was very attentive and through with explaining the wines list dishes and ingredients that were on the menu. Our waters never got half empty nor did our wine glasses after purchasing a bottle. Food was served at perfect intervals with a nice pause before the main course. We got there about 7pm and it was maybe 25% full but by the time we left the place was bubbling with energy. We saw the head chef poke his head through the dining area many times and he and the whole staff seemed at ease even when the pace was slammed!

Easily the best food in Montreal. Amazing, mostly Canadian wine list, beautiful dining room, attentive service. Bear in mind, it is important that you throw yourself headfirst into the experience; this is food that can occasionally challenge your precepts of what would constitute something you would want to eat. If there are veal brains on toast for a special first course, get them, they are delicious. Do not be afraid, you are in excellent hands. And by all means, don't forget dessert.

I first heard of this restaurant on Bizarre Foods so I decided I had to check out the place during my weekend on Montreal. Was not disappointed. The food I ordered was very good. Very unique amuse-bouche in the cured lard on small toasted bread; the sweetbread was perfectly prepared, the next small appetizer of a red pepper/cured salumi mix was a nice spicy addition, and the duck royal (duck confit, foie gras, maple potatoes) was decadent. The staff was friendly and very attentive.

Each course was tasty, in a party of six there were only 2 small criticism and they were 1. that the duck was too rich and 2. In general the portions a little small. The wine list while comprehensive was too expensive for what on average we could have bought at the SAQ for 60-70% less but that is the way of high end restros. This did not detract from a very pleasent evening of taste delights enjoyed in a comfortable busy atmosphere with fine attention to detail.

We had a delightful evening. Excellent service - respectful, but warm and friendly and very informative. The sommelier made an excellent recommendation, unusually of a Greek white wine. The food was original and interesting and the restaurant allowed us to share each plate with no fuss on their part, so we organized our own mini tasting menu. Lovely! I'm fortunate DNA is across the water from me so very near. I'll certainly take guests there again.

Sommelier told us 2nd bottle in same price range - no no when we saw the bill. Too bad this was our second visit and we had appreciated the first one. We are Old Mtl foodies on top. Too expensive in overall.

A very limited menu with limited options will undoubtedly leave you wondering how the check got so high, so quick. Focus on meat, meat, meat, hold the sides it leaves the palate wanting a bit more diversity -- say a vegetable or two. If you wanted a cocktail to help bring it all down stick to the basic essentials, as the bar is not equipped to handle anything more complicated than a vodka tonic.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We came to this restaurant especially for local and sustainable ingredients and wine. We loved the profile on Quebec and Canadian ingredients. The smoked rabbit was awesome!! Delicate and amazing! But we were overwhelmed with all the meat heavy dishes. There were no vegetarian dishes or sides and the garnish had maybe some parley, barely a vegetable in sight. I'm not vegetarian and loved meat and fish, but I think any dish needs a nice balance. Especially a whole menu. There are plenty of winter vegetables that we missed out on! If this is truly a sutainable restaurant then they should have heavy veggies and light meat as eating so much meat is unsustainable!

Knowledgeable staff. I first called to make a reservation and they had no space - all the space is available on opentable! They should mention that actually when you call. The architecture of the restaurant permits for a nice conversation to be possible (sound doesn't bounce as much as open space restaurants).

the starters were both really, really good. (tartare and pork belly) the pasta courses were pretty good. (gnocci + ragu) the main meals, although good, were disapointing. They lacked the wow factor you would expect at that kind of price (28$ for fairly plain braised lamb neck, i don't know...), that kind of place, and after the very interesting starters. although I mentioned it was an aniversary when taking the reservation, and again inside the restaurant, i didn't feel anything special being done. i wasn't asking for a song by all the staff coming to the table, but a small something would have been pleasant. on the positives, other than the pork belly and tartare, the service was very good and the summelier made a great suggestion.

Rather indifferent service, while sitting at the bar, tuna tartare was still a bit frozen and lamb neck a bit too salty. Not good for the price...wine recommended was too soft for the food. But the interior design is modern and beautiful and my previous experience there was much better. So I would say good but inconsistent.
