  • "Best oysters in the midwest. Great selection of sweet and salty. Happy hour is great. The staff are great to work with. They are attentive but not intrusive. Every time I'm am in Des Moines that is a must do dinner location"

  • "We love coming to Django for their outstanding food, unique cocktails and great service. It is our restaurant of choice when in Des Moines and we have been there at least 8 times now. However, the noise level makes it very difficult to have any conversation. It didn't help that we were next to a really loud table of 8 who had been drinking for awhile before we got there. Since we go to Django when dropping off or visiting our son at Drake, not being able to have a conversation is really beginning to be a drawback. It is in an old building and is a very pretty space, but I wish something could be done to address this. At one point my son said, I can see your lips moving but I can't hear you! But again, the food is awesome!"

  • "We dine at Django on a regular basis and I usually have absolutely no complaints, only compliments. Unfortunately this visit was made uncomfortable by a rude server. We felt like an inconvenience from the moment we sat down until we paid our bill. This experience won't keep us from dining with Django, however we were disappointed this visit. Hope to have an amazing server next time... Like we're used to. The hostesses & bartenders were amazing as always!"

  • "Django is a great high end reaturant that never disappoints. I go there a few times a year with my wife sir special occasions and everything is delicious. I have had most of the menue and it is all great."

  • "We had a great night. Our friends joined us and we celebrated. Tyson was a fantastic server! Great food."

  • "Menu was OK - nothing to exciting. Noise level was almost unbearable - the acoustics are not the best so when crowded the noise level can be more like a bar than and nice dining locations. There was also a table of six near by that was overly loud, with one person having an EXTREMELY annoying and EXTRA loud cackle - this person's self-awareness was non existent! Do not expect Django to be quiet but this night it was over the top."

  • "The primary reason we return to Django frequently is the no corkage fee policy. My husband and I will share an appetizer and dessert, and each get an entree and dinner is usually less than $70 before tip, plus we can enjoy a bottle of our own wine. Food is very good and I've never had bad service. My only real complaint is how close the seating is. More than once I've sat next to too-much perfume lady or a loud party that makes it hard to hold your own conversation. In general, though I really like this place."

  • "I decided to take my girlfriend here for our 1 year anniversary, and it was a great idea. Considering it's in downtown Des Moines, parking isn't as easy as I'd like, but it wasn't terrible either. Food was great, server was professional, and the atmosphere was perfect. Not too loud, not too quiet. I'd recommend it to anyone! The governor of Iowa was there eating while we dined, so it must be good, right? :)"

  • "Not your usual midwest fare and we were definitely looking for something more unique. It's fun and interesting to try foods cooked differently than the norm. Great food and service. I had requested a quiet spot as several of us don't hear so well in loud restaurants, and we were seated in a quiet corner spot. Nice. Pork chops were cooked well, thick but juicy and very tasty! Another had the shellfish platter and pronounced it the "best I've ever had!" So we'll be back!!!"

  • "I have only been to Django twice. Once during dinner time and the second time is during brunch. During my first visit, we ordered the half-order onion rings as our appetizer and for my entrée, I ordered the Burger Rosinni. Both portions were huge and even though the onion rings was the half-order. I really enjoy my Burger Rosinni. The foie gras was very flavorful, but my soup tasted bland. There are more options during dinnertime than lunchtime at Django. On my second visit, I was with a group of my girlfriends most of us found the ambience and atmosphere very relaxing and elegant. The lunch option was very limited. I was disappointed that most of the lunch menu consists of "American" food not necessarily French food at all."

  • "Django has been my favorite restaurant for quite awhile, but somehow every time I go I love it even more! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food, good service, and a relaxing atmosphere."

  • "Django is a very good restaurant with a large varied menu. The three people that I dined with truly enjoyed their food. I may have made a poor food selection. I consider myself a foodie and an adventurous eater, however I was very disappointed by my selection. It also was a turn off for those at my table. I fully take responsibility for my selection, but in my defense it was not as described. Nor was it anything like previous dishes by the same name. This was our second visit and it will not prevent me for going there again. I will know better than to order the same dish."

  • "We decided to celebrate our 32 anniversary at Django's. It was our first experience with the restaurant and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening! The atmosphere was very pleasant, we had a nice table location and the dining room was amazingly quiet for a busy restaurant. We were able to talk in normal voices, which made for a pleasant evening. The service was good; helpful and attentive. The food was prepared and presented very well. It was a fine dining experience. We are looking forward to our next visit and would definitely give Django's high marks in all categories."

  • "The food and service was very good this time around. We come here often to eat and this time the service was fantastic. We could tell the waitress was seasoned so the service was excellent. The meals were excellent as well."

  • "For a long time I've heard about the amazing Django Restaurant and its solid 4 out of 5 stars reviews. The service was very good from front desk to bill: staff was attentive, nice, and willing to make recommendations. The food was nothing special: The leek soup was a little bland; The Burger Rossini was overcooked with bland tasting truffles and the foie gras was more greasy than it was rich (Django did give us a discount on the burger after we brought this up); The Steak au Poivre was a very good cut of meat with a good but ultimately underwhelming au porvre sauce. Plate presentation wasn't anything amazing. Very good bar and wine list. Mediocre ambiance, looks and feels very "hotel" restaurant. Not the best bang for your buck."

  • "The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and busy without having to chase down the wait staff. However, the food was completely underwhelming. I had a special with red snapper, succotash and polenta. The polenta was undercooked, the fish was over cooked and the succotash added nothing to the dish. I wanted to like this place but can't bring myself to say anything more than...meh"

  • "We used to go to one of their competitors for special occasions, but got tired of paying top dollar for a small pour of wine. Since Django has no corkage fee, we take one of our favorite wines, coupled with the fantastic menu at Django, and we have a very nice celebration meal."

  • "Heard a lot of recommendation and all the good thing abut this place. So we went here to celebrate out anniverasy. Turn out had a bad service, good was dry and missing sauces. Table was wet i asked for a napkins so i can wipe it off. He was disappear and when the apertizer came, the waiter set a clean spoon right on the water spot. Then 1 mins later he came back n wiped the wet spot off... Really???? Also my steak was asked for medium well, end up was well done n so dry. Also missing the sauces for it. Didnt get the sauces will my steak was all gone... Its just bad services. Feeling ignored the whole time. Also, didnt get pur bread till 45 mins later after the apertizer came..."

  • "Good restaurant. The board with the daily features that was displayed in the entry way at brunch on Sunday, should not have been put up or should have stated that the the specials were not available until evening. Don't get our hopes up with special features when they are not available."

  • "We had dinner at Django in Des Moines on a Saturday night. It was a busy night - I was definitely glad we had reservations. The atmosphere was very nice, it's an old building that has been renovated, and shows lots of care and love in the remodel. The food was delicious; our waiter was personable, eager, and pleasant. His timing for the dinner was excellent - we did not feel rushed at all between the soup and the entree."

  • "Django is elegant and stylish yet welcoming and open at the same time. A great restaurant for all occasions but definitely upscale. I enjoyed the atmosphere and amazing menu. Also I loved that each table get's it own bottle of water so you don't have to keep asking for refills! I dined here with a friend for lunch but now I am for sure coming back to try their dinner menu!"

  • "Visiting from out of town, we wanted to find a great brunch place before heading back home. With good reviews, we were excited to try Django. Everything from start to finish was good. The server was polite and informative about the menu options. The food was excellent. We had the small plate Poutin, plenty to share with 2-4 people. We also split the Crepes Madam...rich and wonderful! We walked away with a satisfying meal for a reasonable price."

  • "Our group of four enjoyed a relaxed dinner here on a Saturday eve in June. Our reservations were for 7:30 and we were seated promptly. Two in our group are foodies from France, so I was a bit worried that it might not stand up to their expectations, but everything about our experience was perfect. They were wonderfully surprised how authentic the dishes were prepared. We started out with some delicious martinis, followed by wine, appetizers (french onion soup and a Charcuterie plate with sausages, pate, cheeses, crackers jam and mustards. Our entrees were perfectly prepared and our server was very knowledgeable and unobtrusive yet very efficient. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Des Moines."

  • "The food was pretty good, but not out of this world, and definitely pricey - as were drinks. The crab cake appetizer was tasty, but they really skimped on the sauce that gave it the real flavor & moisture. A pasta dish also lacked enough sauce. It was busy, and the waiter was not particularly attentive. We've food equally good or better food elsewhere in town for lower price and with better service."

  • "We were seated right away while others with no reservations had to wait an hour that was great. The service was very good. The food was excellent. The quiet table we asked for was not happening, I wished they would have asked us if we would like to move because the people next to us were the loudest in the whole restaurant and every one was turning to our supposedly quiet niche because of it. So if that was all I would go again."

  • "I recently took some business colleagues to Django. It was my second time dining there, and both times both the food and the service were excellent. The menu has a wide range of French dishes, as well as some more traditional American fare, which allows everyone to find something great. The fried Brussels sprouts were a standout. The staff was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant can get a little noisy, but I've not had it impact my dining experience. I'll definitely be back."

  • "This is about the 6th time I've enjoyed Django - has been consistently fantastic. it's a great place to take visitors from out of town on a work engagement. I have done that 3-4 times, and gone with friends on the other occasions. Great food and wine - wonderful atmosphere. Impressive. I had the Blue Cheese Medallions this visit - many thumbs up."

  • "My husband and I love to go to Django for special occasions and just because. However, when we have gone to Django for supper the service and food has been on and off. Sometimes when we eat there we have an excellent seasoned waiter/waitress that does a fantastic job and we don't even know that he/she around. The table dishes are cleaned up and water glasses are full without any notice and our food is usually very good. However, other times we go, we get a new waiter/waitress that we need to asked for them to clear off the dishes for the next round and asked for more water, etc. and sometimes the food is not served very hot (as if it has been sitting waiting for the waiter/waitress to pick it up)."
