  • "Dizz's is one of our favorite restaurants, our special occasion place for years. Everything on the plate is special in itself. Nothing is there just to add color or take up space. From the initial vermouth and pate to the final course everything is special. We no longer live there but drive down for dinner (50 miles each way) regularly. They serve the best rack of lamb I've ever had and their swordfish (if it's not fresh, it's not on the menu) is wonderful. It's a family business started by the parents and grandmother of the current operators about 35 years ago and is a Laguna landmark."

  • "I've been eating at Dizz's for many years now and the food and service has always been outstanding. It's an unusual setting that makes it unique. The quality of the food preparation has always been consistent so you don't have to worry about having a bad meal and the flavoring is great without being over the top or too trendy. Service is always good too with friendly, knowledgeable wait staff."

  • "From the time my husband and I entered the restaurant to the time we left, we felt cared for and looked after. It was my husband's birthday and our first visit to Dizz's. They greet you with a mini vermouth and pate', have an extensive wine list and wine and food specials. We ordered the featured wine, a Zinfandel, which was exceptional. My husband received a birthday greeting, blessing, and a generous chocolate mousse'. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They also read the comments I placed on my OpenTable reservation, which some restaurants seem to ignore or skip over. Thank you, thank Dizz's As Is. Stay As Is. We'll be back."

  • "We haven't dined here in awhile and are sorry we haven't. Just as it used to deliver friendly service that makes you feel at home, well prepared classic dishes, and an ambience that is fun and warm. The Swordfish Madagascar was fresh and deliciously prepared with a cognac dijon mustard cream sauce. The scampi style linguine and schrimp were light and tasty. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy the ocean view and breeze. We'll be back sooner next time!"

  • "Both my son and his best friend are back East and missed Mother's Day with their moms, so it was up to me and my buddy to cater to our wives to celebrate their day. Had not been to Dizz's in years, but decided to make it a half-way meeting point with South County friends for dinner (their first visit), despite my hesitancy about going to any restaurant on such an occasion. Even the best often fall flat, but Dizz's did not disappoint. It was superb, and just as great as we remembered. Food was excellent, and the service top notch. Not at all sure why we stayed away so long. We'll be back again soon. The moms had a special day, and we all enjoyed a fantastic dinner. Thanks to the staff at Dizz's for a perfect evening."

  • "The food is amazing. They start you with a mouth quenching vermouth along with toast and pate- I didn't know I liked pate so much. I had the swordfish- wow- delicious- with rice (REALLY good) and a veggie stuffed zucchini (so much food that I left that on the plate.) The wines by the glass are solid and reasonably priced. My husband had the lamb and even though he was full, he had to finish it because it was so good. We had the chocolate chip bundt cake and it was even better than I hoped for. About the decor- it's kitschy and old- with flowered table clothes and faded paintings- our food was served on year 2000 celebratory plates. I'm sure that's part of the charm, but I would really like to see it cleaned up a bit with clean menus."

  • "Definitely a "locals" restaurant, which is exactly what we were looking for. Some nice and unexpected touches with complimentary pate and a small glass of vermouth to start with. Food was quite good with a varied menu. Outside area is nice with a fire pit for chillier nights."

  • "We had dined many times at Dizz's when we lived in LB 30+ years ago...it was probably our favorite place. Unfortunately we were not as impressed this time around. Service was quite slow (albeit the place was packed) and the sea bass was overcooked. Very loud the evening we dined; there was a large party sitting behind us and they were boisterous, to say the least. It is a small place, so one has to expect not to have an intimate dining experience. Still a lovely restaurant and would recommend it."

  • "We used to go to Dizz's As Is years ago and always had an excellent meal, but had not been there for some time. Our party of four decided to return to an old favorite. First of all the service was excellent, but that's where the good dining experience ended. Two of us ordered the "special" , Sea Bass. Salads were brought out first and they appeared to be greens tossed on a plate from a supermarket salad greens bag with watery tasting dressing and a couple canned tangerine slices on top. Then the "special" was served and it smelled fishy and had a "dirty sock" taste. I feel that the "special" was probably old "leftovers" they were dumping. The vegetables were also awful. The wine list also left a lot to be desired."

  • "I was very disspaointed with the experience. We had an aloof waitress who liked to pick her head as we asked her questions. Did not seem to know the menu. Ordered the salad which was tastless. Sent it back for a safe bet (Ceaser Salad) but again was dissapointed. We asked to be moved from the bar area due to the noise. The host was the highlight of the night...very friendly. My wife ordered the surf and turn and I ordered the filet mignon. The shrimp was completely bland and the only taste was paprika. There was a bornw sauce on the filets. Way too salty and overwhelmed the taste of the meat. By the time it came for dessert, we opted to go somewhere else. Very dissapointed. We have been here before (10 years ago) but will not go again."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach. We've been going there for over 30 years now, and the food has uniformly been very good. Service is always good, and it's usually fairly quiet. I like the fact that you receive an entire meal there (pate and bread; soup or salad; entree (which includes a starch and vegetables) -- unlike so many restaurants that make you purchase each part of the meal separately. For this reason, I think the price of the meals is reasonable. Love the cornish hen and berry pie for dessert. We will definitely continue to return over and over."

  • "I know this is a Laguna Beach institution and it is great if portion size is important. Atmosphere is like having dinner at your great grandmother's house. Food is mediocre at best. There is no fine touch in the kitchen. The bar is fun and great for locals. I'm not sure that other than a drink I would recommend this place for anything."

  • "As soon as I stepped inside this very noisy restaurant to celebrate Valentine's with my honey, I knew I would not be happy. Fortunately, on Open Table, I requested a quiet, romantic table. So the Host offered me a table outside and I couldn't have been happier. With the fire pit & heat lamps, I was very comfortable on a cool night. We waited a long time for our first drink and the service didn't get a lot better from there. The waiter was really nice, but he had way too many tables outside. We spent three hours there for dinner and not by choice. Fortunately, we enjoyed sitting by the fire. Inside I would have been miserable that long. The food was good, but not outstanding... which, for the price ($100+ for two), it should have been!"

  • "Six of us had dinner on Friday night. I brought a magnum of wine which they served (waived corkage fee). Awesome Veal Marsala! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waiter, Dante, even provided a strawberry desert with a candle on it. This is one of my favorite places in Laguna Beach area and has a terrific, but small, bar."
