Diner Reviews
  • "We went for a family birthday dinner celebration. We had three adults and 2 children. We were seated in the bar area and it was very loud. In fact, it was difficult to hold a conversation. The wine list is very good and the prices were reasonable. The steak was good, not great. The burger was incredible! The service was very good."

  • "Had been to Ditka's before for dinner a few times, but this was my first time trying out breakfast. Great food and service as always--and the "Man-Mosa" cocktail went great with the meal."

  • "Enjoyed our visit to this notable steak restaurant in Chicago. My husband is a sports fan, but I think we went to Ditka's because of the Aliquippa Pa connection with Mike Ditka. Loved the sports memorabilia on the walls and everywhere in this restaurant. Nice to see an old Aliquippa Varsity jacket. This is a great steak place, my waiter was great. I wish I listened to his recommendations on the prep of my steak. It was tasty but a little dry-to be expected since I ordered a fillet well done! Bread and sides were excellent."

  • "A great job to Ditka's - calamari was lightly breaded, perfectly cooked as was the tuna roll appetizer. I ordered the twin filets with crab cakes - filets were top cut, juicy and cooked perfectly. Guests ordered the pasta diavolo and the sea bass (both of which I sampled and were phenomenal). For sides, we did the creamed spinach and hash brown bites (I HIGHLY recommend these). Dessert was chocolate cake and peanut butter pie - a bit rich for my taste but it was offset with a nice espresso. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and very mindful of our evening show tickets. A great job - this is a top choice restaurant!"

  • "We made reservations through open table for dinner at Ditka's and we were seated at possibly the worst table in the restaurant. It was the table right behind the hostess station on the 2nd floor and we were very cramped. However, we were grateful that we showed up 15 min early and were seated right away! It's a very vibrant place, love singing was fantastic! Food was very good. Large portions so plan for leftovers. The meatloaf was phenomenal! And the banana cream pie was the best dessert I have eaten in a long time! Would highly recommend just would ask for a different table next time."

  • "We were a group of 10 for a Friday night meal. The service was great, very friendly and efficient. The food was better than expected given the sports bar-like atmosphere. I am told the steaks were excellent and my crab cakes were good. The rooms are like someone's basement wreck-room, with lots of tvs and sports stuff and ugly furnishings. It was incredibly loud even before the Frank Sinatra impersonator started singing. He was quite good, by the way. It was barely possible to speak to the person next to me never mind across the table, so not the most successful dinner. And the prices are stratospheric. $49 for a steak with no sides? Really?"

  • "My brother and I came for a visit to Chicago and my husband recommended we eat at Ditka's for a great steak. He was right! The steak was fantastic, the restaurant was beautiful and our waiter, Carlos, was excellent. We also shared the wedge salad, the baby back ribs, some smashed red potatoes and burgundy mushrooms, all delicious! I would go there again in a heartbeat."

  • "There were 12 in our group and we had 2 tables. We had a great time. The food and drinks were great and it was a blast running into Coach and getting a group photo. The only issue i had is that my ribs were dry and tough...flavor was great but my friends talkedbme into returning the ribs. Our waiter..Zack checked with the manager and they comped ribs. Zack was a great waiter..manybpeople in my group commented on his excellent level of service"

  • "Had a great time here ... celebrating my son's 34th birthday... Used the Valet parking, very smooth. Was seated promptly and Mr Ditka was here in person to boot! how great was that. He was amazing with the public. Taking pictures and being patient with all that asked for their picture. I thought that was incredibly good of him. Meanwhile, the food is just delicious. The steak is to die for, seriously, and our waiter (Gordon?) was very attentive and made sure our little party was fun for us, freely answering our questions about items on the menu. Man is that one awesome NY strip steak. I find myself comparing it past restaurant experiences, or even store meat, and they never quite compare. Great time had by all .. Highly recommend!"

  • "Food was awesome. Bar scene was perfect for our liking. What set the evening off was the friendliness of our server Zack. I am from the food and beverage industry in California. Would steal him if I could. Whole staff was exceptional! Thank you for a great dining experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Chicago."

  • "The brunch at Ditka's was recommended to us & it did not disappoint. We've been there for dinner which was fabulous so why not try the brunch! The berry crepes & red velvet pancakes were delicious & the service was great. We had an early reservation & were seated immediately since the restaurant was not that crowded. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a weekend brunch!"

  • "Went with my 15yr. old son and got put up stairs with all the people with kids which had none of the feel of the downstairs DITKAS experience, could have been in any restuarant . Food was just ok , steak was very good but everything else was just average. Might be differant if downstairs, it looked like a fun place for adults ."

  • "Every time we are in Chicago we make it a point to go to Ditka's. Great energy, great food and awesome service. Thanks to our server Carlos for making it such a fun evening for us! We have tried many items on the menu from the pot roast nachos, to the gnocci, steaks, salads and desserts and every bite of food is delicious. We so appreciate being able to count on Ditka's for quality food with great taste!"

  • "I always enjoy this place. It gets very crowded and lively into the evening. All the food has been good, but the ribs are my favorite: Big, meaty and the sauce has a slight kick to it. Ditka's is unique in that there are some folks coming in in baseball jersey's and some in suits --and both look right."

  • "Food and service are always great. Joe was our server during this visit--friendly and attentive. We had a party of four. Three of us got prime rib; the other ordered filet prepared two ways. For sides, we shared creamed spinach (my favorite), green beans and a twice-baked potato. The berry martini was popular at our table. When we have guests from out of town, Ditka's is one of our "go to" restaurants."

  • "A Niners fan but don't let that faze ya. Great ambience for the sports fan. I ordered the special off-menu item, the Tomahawk. It was described as a 20 oz 28-day dry aged ribeye with exceptional flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. It was done perfectly medium rare with great flavor but not exactly melt in your mouth. Tender, but I wouldn't call it melt in your mouth. Started with the onion soup...very good. We shared asparagus, twice baked potatoes, broccoli. All done well...no complaints. If ever in Chicago again I'd go back but I'd be more likely to stick with the on menu ribeye and save the $."

  • "Football and steak. Both served plentiful and nicely done. The prime filet was tender and well cooked just like the Bears of late. Service was acceptable however the menu was a bit limited for the better half of your party. Kids menu was very reasonable and a pleasant surprise. Fresh bread was very good. Twice baked potato was the size of a junior football and very tasty."

  • "Great experience: love the Bears memorabelia and the atmosphere; for a River North location, the valet parking makes the restaurant really easy to get to by car. Had the meatloaf - it was amazing!! My husband had da Porkchop - also amazing! Will definitely come back here!"

  • "It's an interesting mix of "near" fine dining in a sports themed restaurant. My dining companion that had a steak called it "excellent". Since I don't eat steak I had chicken, which I found to be quite succulent and satisfying. Overall it was a good dining experience."

  • "Although I was on time for my reservation I had a 30 + minute wait time to be seated. Once seated it was the worse seat in the place. I was eventually moved and everything was fine. The food is great and I love the raspberry martini, yummy! I just don't see making a reservation if the wait time is 30 minutes or more. I will return but phone ahead to confirm and make sure not to have such a long wait time."

  • "Had reservations and then waited 38 minutes for a table. The restaurant provided service recovery with a free appetizer. iShould not have to wait so long....it was busy.....but there shoudl be some guidelines on waiting time with a reservation."

  • "First time visit at Ditka's. Food and service were outstanding. Sat upstairs and enjoyed the energetic vive in the room. Johnny did a great job belting out Sinatra songs and the Pork Chop was outstanding. Our waiter said we missed seeing the Coach by 2 hours. Ditka's moves to the top of our list of Chicago restaurants."

  • "The service and food were both great! We were there on a Saturday night, and it was quite busy. Our table was in one of the smaller rooms. However, there are a number of tables in the bar area. I would have been disappointed to get a table in the bar area because of the noise level and number of people standing around."
