Diner Reviews
  • "Great experience. Service and food were excellent."

  • "This was the first time we dined here. I expected a sports bar scene, but actually found a place with moderate noise levels to accompany all the sports memorabilia on the walls. The food was prepared in a straightforward way, but was excellent. The wine list has some of the best values I have seen anywhere in the past ten years. Overall, it was fun and I will go back."

  • "Our Waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly, Did not push anything and gave great advise on the food, One of the best steaks ever, 30 ounce bone in ribeye, aged, was great. The margarittas were great as well. The service was exceptional and atmosphere was what you would expect from the Coach!!!"

  • "Again what a wonderful experience Ditka's continues to do for us. We have been going here for almost 13 years and have never been disappointed. Loved the Delmonico steak. Mark our waiter was again as courteous and efficient as ever. The kindness of a special dessert for Patrick topped off the wonderful dining experience. We will be back!!!!"

  • "I have ate at many great restaurants all over the country. It was the best service experience I ever had. I was there for me girlfriends birthday with get mother. We all ordered different dishes and we're going to try reach others. The waiter heard us day this and with out asking had the chefs make nine little minnie portions so we all had our own. My mind was blown that he and the staff took the time and effort to do that. That's service above and beyond. Well done an experience I will never forget."

  • "This was the first dinner of our vacation. Food was great but the service was slow, disinterested, and unresponsive. The place was not packed and there was no reason the service should have been this bad except for a real lack of interest from our server. A high caliber restaurant deserves better than this. We ate at Joe's and The Gage the next two nights and the service was excellent. If I am going to spend $125 for two people I expect a basic level of service. What we had was better suited for an Applebee's."

  • "This place is great, food's amazing, service is great. A little loud, but we still make it a point to eat at Ditka's every time we're in Chicago!"

  • "The Atmosphere was like Mike's coaching style: close knit players, encouraging words from staff, and obvious desire to win. The Food was like Mike catching a pass: big target, hard to beat, and refusal to settle for 2nd place. Overall it was like Mike as a player and as a coach: huge win and can't wait to play again! We don't get north often, but y'all helped to Southern Boys feel right at home! Thanks"

  • "Everyone loved their dinner - we weren't even super hungry, but we all kept eating because it was so tasty. Surprised they had a kids menu and crayons, and there was lots for them to look at. We sat in the bar, and it was a little loud, but no more than you would expect."

  • "We met friends there who were in from NYC. We saw "Da Coach" so that was exciting. Sea Bass was excellent as was the bisque soup. Pork chop was a little dry, but we would go back. Our courses came in a nice timed sequence. Didn't feel rushed even though we knew we had to catch a train."

  • "We were hoping for a more upscale experience at this restaurant. Seated at a booth in the bar area - zero ambience. Food was decent but lacking in portion size. Their sides are advertised on the menu as shareable for 2- But don't count on that. We got 3 sides to share between 3 people- what came to the table was a tray of 3 very small saucers that would be enough for 1 average eater. We had to order more to have enough for 3 adults. For the price there are SO many better restaurants in the Chicago area."

  • "On a recent trip to Chicago my husband and I made a reservation at Ditka's for dinner. Food and service were outstanding!"

  • "My wife and I were in Chicago for a long weekend and dined here our last evening. The overall experience and the food was excellent. We both had the Prime Filet. We will definitely return and would highly recommend it!"

  • "The food at this restaurant falls well short of other comparatively priced places. I do recommend however stopping in for a quick look at the decor, should time permit, on your way to good dinner. The steaks are over cooked and the crab bisque inedible."

  • "Great melt-in-you-mouth prime rib! Super Chicago atmosphere. The waiter was extremely helpful, courteous, and attentive without being in the way."

  • "For the first time, we were disappointed in the service. Waiters changed after we ordered drinks; when our food arrived, the food runner, not our waiter started to give it to the party at the table next to us. I had to shout out that it was our food. The second waiter, Ashley, was apologetic. It seems that the service was not well coordinated. We live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Ditka's at least five times in the past 5 months, so we depend on the service being consistent. Unfortunately, last night was different."

  • "Admittedly we came to Ditka's mainly because of the name. The food was disappointing. My wife's fillet was overcooked. The potatoes came out cold. I did enjoy my coffee-rubbed Delmonico steak and the lobster mac & cheese was excellent. The ambiance wasn't what I expected. It was loud and had more of a bar ambiance than a fine steakhouse. It wasn't worth the price and we likely won't be back again."

  • "Our waiter Mark was fantastic and gave recommendations for wine that complimented our steak selection. We would go back in a heartbeat."

  • "I ordered the #1 Hawaiian tuna. Hands down, best dinner I have ever eaten. Great quality. Melted in your mouth."

  • "The restaurant accommodated our request for a reservation change as we were unable to make the earlier time. Service was fast and the food was as good as ever. Husband had the rib-eye steak and wife always orders the Lake Perch because it is not available where we live. We will remain repeat customers whenever we are in Chicago."

  • "Evening business dinner. Everyone had a great meal and our service was excellent. Our server made an excellent recommendation to have 2 people in our party split the ribs and filet/crab cake entrees. Worked out great."

  • "We try to eat at Ditka's whenever we are in Chicago - and this time did not disappoint. We had a reservation and the hostess immediately took us upstairs - which is more of a Sports Bar scene and loud with large tables and children. We kindly stated that we would prefer to be seated downstairs in the Main dining area and we immediately reseated at a wonderful table by a window on the main floor. Service was impeccable as always. My husband had the twin fillets and I had the Tuna - both were excellent. We saw an order of the Meatloaf go by to an adjacent table and my husband remarked that will be the next meal he eats at Ditka's! Thanks again"

  • "Maybe it was because we went at 5:00pm. But, the Guinness was almost warm, the $12 burger was mostly bun and undercooked. The tiny cup of French onion soup was good. The fries were very good and hot. The waiter was good except when I needed another Guinness. The employees appeared to be tired of suburbanite tourists. Need curtains on windows looking into seedy Tremont Hotel next door. Will not go back or recommend."

  • "First time visiting Ditka's - we had a group of 5. I had the Da Pork Chop - huge and delicious. We had 2 coffee rubbed steak and the tomohawk steak - which were also delicious. We also had a chicken (really?). The wine list is very good and markups are reasonable. for dessert we had the peanut butter pie (cake?) and the choclolate cake - also delicious."

  • "I ordered the crab cakes & unfortunately had to trade with my husband who had ordered the bone In ribeye due to the much too liberally Old Bay seasoning! Since my hubs is from Maryland he was used to the taste while I am a Texan & am not fond of the flavor AT ALL! But rather than send the dish back he graciously traded with me. He also did not receive the side dish he had ordered but since our waitress didnt really check back on us it wasn't worth mentioning when she finally did. I will say the oyster shooters were plump & delicious and I enjoyed them immensely as well as Mike's salad. The sourdough roll--- we only got ONE---was warm & delicious. I wanted more but everyone passed our table so fast & avoided eye contact so I couldn't ask."

  • "Had an early dinner at Ditka's and it was truly enjoyable. The best Prime rib I have ever eaten. We chose the larger cut and the chef prepared my portion rare and my wife's medium. The sides are definitely for sharing and are delicious as well. I would definitely recommend Ditka's."

  • "Very good food & drinks & extremely friendly service! My mom said "The best cheeseburger she's ever had!""

  • "Bottom line Chicago is well known for great steak houses. However, Ditka's is not one. If you're a fan of the Ditka name and Bears football, the bar scene is worth checking out. The steaks and food are average. You won't have a bad meal but there are at least ten "premium" steak houses above Ditka's in name, quality and experience. Service left something to be desired."

  • "Appetizers and drinks were great. Service was slow......trying to get us to buy more drinks? Steaks were cooked by amateurs. They came out undercooked. I'd requested horseradish crusted but it mine came out plain. We sent them back. Then 15 mintues later the same steaks came back out. Cooked "medium" as requested but burnt on the outside and a bit of horseradish on top. Uggggg. Didn't even finish mine."
