  • "I went here for a big brunch after completing a half marathon. People in our group arrived at different times, but the staff was very accommodating. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and fast. Food was great, if not a bit pricey. I would absolutely come here again, and am looking forward to trying their downtown location."

  • "I brought some family members to the restaurant for dinner the other evening, and everything went really well. We had a reservation, so we were seated immediately, and we had a waiter and a trainee (who actually was ready to go and didn't need anything else) so we felt very taken care of. I enjoy the food there, and so did everyone at the table, and we had a nice bottle of wine as well."

  • "This is the 2nd visit to ditch plains & I was hoping it would redeem my previous visit but sadly it just confirmed that it isn't worth a 3rd visit. The food is overpriced for what you get. I'm a foodie; nothing at ditch plains is even remotely special. The egg sandwich is not even as good as my local bodega; Bloody Mary is fine but again not great; and the chopped salad is flavorless. In addition the hosts are super rude. This time we were with our friends and their two kids. We were sat in a back, dark area which was hot. There were empty tables in the brighter area near the front but our hostess said they would not seat families up there. That's fine except when we left the front area was filled with families. This place is off our list."

  • "We met friends for brunch with our twin toddlers and had a wonderful time. They are extremely kid-friendly and have a kid menu, room to park your stroller, an endless supply of high chairs and booster seats, crayons and coloring menus, personal TV at every booth and small plastic cups with lids and straws. The omelettes, pancakes and fries were delicious! It was packed for brunch so make a reservation. We will definitely be back again soon!"

  • "I wasn't impressed by the food or the ambience, and although the waiter was sweet, he commented that I was making a lot of "specific requests." And the food is definitely too pricey for what it is. The shrimp "cocktail" turned out to be a heap of the watery "peel and eat" type of shrimp that were already peeled-- the quality -- or lack thereof -- certainly not justifying the $16 cost. And at $28.00, the lobster roll was definitely not up there... It seemed quite small and I couldn't even taste the lobster as there were so many scallions in it. So overall, it won't be one of my regular neighborhood standbys (the best part was the cup of taffy they give to you with the bill.)"

  • "Located perfectly for a visit to the Museum of Natural History and the Children's Museum, Ditch Plains has a broad, family friend menu, TV screens playing popular kid movies at every table. A good menu for both adults and kids fills out the picture, as well as a very casual rustic atmosphere without a lot of things to break. I had the Clam Chowder (New England Style) which was excellent, as were the Shrimp Tacos. Certainly a place to visit and keep in mind for trips to the neighborhood and its attractions."

  • "This was the chill NYC brunch I have been searching for. To top that, I took my husband here for birthday brunch, so the stakes were high. And Ditch Plains totally nailed it. Yes, I do want to eat outstanding food in a cool environment that has fantastic customer service. Yes, I will be back. Yes, Ditch Plains, you and I ARE going to be seeing a lot of each other. You are now my go-to brunch place whenever I have visitors. I don't mind a bit of noise-- but no, I do not want to bump elbows with the person one table over. No, I do not want to have my conversation domineered by the drunken group to my left. These irritations were noticeably absent at Ditch Plains. Tip: come early (~11am) to beat the parents with young children crowd."

  • "Saw this restaurant in several lists of UWS kid friendly places. It is clear kids are welcome but TV on table with soundless video is not enough. Service was way too slow for kids. Kid friendly needs to mean they will be eating something pretty fast. Take kid dinner order with parent's drink order and everyone will be happy. Food pretty average but fine for a night out with the toddlers."

  • "I had never been to Ditch plains and although the menu appealed to me, I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad I selected this place for a catch-up meal with my friend. We shared their fried pickles as an appetizer (which were so tasty and not greasy) and I had a cheeseburger. What I appreciated most was that it was appropriately sized (i.e. not gigantic) and came with both french fries and a salad (so some french fries to indulge in but greens to get in good nutrients with your burger). Our server was also so very nice and welcoming. I will be back."

The entrance way is filled with strollers of every shape and size, should have been a clue. Good food, good service, but not a relaxed morning spot for a table for two. May try going back for a weeknight dinner."

  • "Excellent brunch! I had two bloody Mary's, we shared an order of buffalo and BBQ wings, and had the pulled pork sweet potato hash for my meal. The Bloody Mary was delicious and spicy. The wings were nice and crispy dripping with a nice sauce. And the pulled pork hash came with this green herby hollandaise sauce. I almost licked the bowl clean. Will def be back for more..."

  • "We were seated right away after we checked in, and loved that we were able to hook our coats to the rack above the booth. Furthermore, they brought out waters and KIDS LIDDED cups without even asking:) So many restaurants are hostile to us asking for kid cups-we know little kids are messy! The server was great, and brought out the kids meals (healthy whole wheat quesadillas that my son ate without noticing veggies for a while! and a burger) with our appetizers. ! Food was great, especially the jalapeño tots, calamari salad, and seared tuna burger, and they even comped us dessert because there was a delay in our food arriving. Highly reccomend!"

  • "I absolutely love Ditch Plains. I often order from the one in the West Village, but I finally made it to the one on the UWS as well. You must get the ditch dogs and the jalapeno & cheddar tater tots. The ambiance was great for brunch and I had a pretty tasty bloody mary. Warning: There are A LOT of kids in the restaurant. It was a Sunday around noon, so that probably makes a difference as well as the fact that it is the UWS, but just a heads up!"

  • "We were a large group of adults. The space is nice and large, with many big tables; we had a corner oblong table, which worked pretty well for our group. Unfortunately, the place attracts a lot of large groups with kids, so it got very loud at times, which made it hard to have conversations. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but the service was definitely slow. The food was o.k. Appetizers were probably the high point - we had the tater tots (and they have a kick!), onion rings and crab dip. Salads were large, but described as being 'heavy on the lettuce and light on the fixins.' We had the lobster pot (their Sunday special), which was a nice treat, but nothing special. But don't miss the brownie skillet dessert!!"

  • "We came as people who grew up along Chesapeake Bay and know about blue crabs. While the Old Bay Seasoning on the crabs and corn were delicious, we were a bit shock and very disappointed at the size of the crabs. These crabs were so small that they were barely worth cracking into since there was so little meat in them. To make matters worse, some of the meat was just mushy and inedible. We've been looking forward to this for months and were definitely upset and disappointed about the crabs when we left. On a positive note, our waiter Tim was terrific - the perfect mix of professional, friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Also, we had a green salad (fabulous dressing) that was delicious as were all the sides that came with the crabs."
