Got street parking right outside. Went here in conjunction with a campus visit to Penn. Really loud music/TV. I had the tortilla soup and queso fundido, and both were tasty but not memorable. 3 adults and 2 kids all enjoyed the meal and we got out on schedule. Guacamole and salsa were ok, too. Good, inexpensive lunch.

Everything we had was delicious. The noise level was a bit off putting but everyone in our group said they would come again. The ceviche was fabulous. The tacos were good though the mahi mahi tacos would have been better if the fish was not deep fried. It tasted a bit like fish sticks. The presentation was beautiful!

We have gone here for my boyfriend's birthday for the last few years. It has become our favorite restaurant (as we love all of Garces's restaurants.) I HIGHLY recommend the tasting menu as the chefs know exactly what to choose. We have NEVER been disappointed. The Distrito margarita is a must!

Took a friend here for her birthday as she loves margaritas and Mexican food. The restaurant was very crowded as there was a wedding going on upstairs, but it didn't affect our experience. Our server was very friendly and attentive and gave us enough time to read the menu and relax throughout dinner. We ordered a pitcher of the El Jefe margaritas which was great as well as the guacamole with crab which was also great. We shared 2 beef tacos and the fish of the day. Both entrees were well cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Fun place with good food, good services and reasonable prices.

  • Distrito; wedding stole main room

interesting, tasty cuisine, though, as often happens in tapas settings, we felt we got a little less than we paid for. also, we were expecting the main dining room but it was closed for a wedding reception (maybe Opentable could work that into its reservations notes, eh?). but the wedding party had a mariachi band and a dog that marched up the steps, so that gave everyone downstairs a shot of revelry, too. solid margaritas, flavorful, tho tequila was not high octane.

The decor is really great and fun! Luchador mask wall, an old car as a dining table, very cool. I didn't know that the portions were like tapas-style, but regardless the food was good. The most memorable was the octopus - very tender.

We went to Distrito as a family for my wife's birthday and all of us were disappointed by the food. The mahi mahi tacos were covered in a sauce redolent of thousand island dressing so they came off tasting like a Mrs. Paul's fish stick and the the medium-rare meat on the kobe beef tacos was tough and chewy. The octopus was excellent, but the sauces were not complimentary. The other items that we had were not even memorable. In addition, our table was not cleared on a regular basis and dirty dishes and glasses piled up. New food was brought to the table and the server would try to find a place to place it down among the dirty plates. Any mexican restuarant would get a 3 star, but at this price point it should be a two star.

We are planning to have your work anniversary dinner at Distrito because it's close to our office so my supervisor and I decided to go for dinner to test out the food ahead of time since none of us had been there before. Upon arriving the manager showed us the different party rooms and helped us pick one for the event, above and beyond what we were expecting. For dinner we got the $55 pp tasting menu and MAN, that was a lot of food!!! Definitely go hungry if you plan to get that. Our favorites were the guac with crab, the Mexican corn and the chicken. Service was phenomenal all night. Make an excuse to go to west PHL and get dinner here! Skip the margaritas though, we thought they were sub-par and too sweet!

After tasting the guacamole, our eating companion started breaking out and asked if the guac had been prepared using latex gloves. That was the allergy trigger. The chef and manager and servers were all at our table taking down the diner's info, etc. Then the chef prepared a specific meal for her and everything went just beautifully. The allergic response began to subside and was barely noticeable when we left the restaurant. We appreciate the attention in this matter and wish to thank the Jose Garces crew for their careful handling of our problem

I chose Distrito because of its proximity to Penn. My husband and I were meeting up with cousins I hadn't seen in 30 years who were bringing a daughter (from Paris) to start her freshman year at Penn. My cousin said they don't have Mexican food in France and she was quite excited about going to Distrito. It was a very happy, bright, cheerful setting for a very fun night and reunion for us. We were one of the very last groups in the restaurant but were not pressured by the staff to leave. There were a couple incidents of dropped trays which was noisy and made us jump. I think they and we will definitely make some returns to Distrito. Thank you!

Distrito is very consistent delivering tasty Mexican food in a festive atmosphere. The pitchers of margaritas are great also. Love the spicy peanuts put on the table as well. I do wish they had a bit more flexibility to accommodate off menu items. It's a great atmosphere to bring a teen, but the were unable to create simple meat, cheese and bean tacos or burritos, which is disappointing. This has happened on the past two visits.

This was our second visit to Distrito before we headed over to the Mann for a show. The décor is clean and bright, and the hostess sat us in a nice corner spot. The margaritas are great, the ceviche is fresh and delicious and the tacos and flatbreads are warm and tasty. Our waiter Jared was friendly, attentive and efficient - without hovering over us. This place is beautifully designed and provides a fun atmosphere to meet friends. The guacamole and chips was top notch. Creamy, tasty- just addictive! The lunch menu was suprisingly narrow. I would have liked a few more choices. My colleague had the mahi fish tacos and thought they were unique by put not great. I had the Tortilla soup which was very generous in portion and the first spoonfuls tasted great but it was unpleasently spicy hot. I will give Distrito another try- probably for dinner.
